Bit pitchforky out there.

I had a lie in till 9, went to Cote for brunch, nap in the hammock and then to the dentist. If you book after 4.30 no school kids and no Chelsea tractors in the car park. Now waiting for deliveroo to bring me a burger. Then the final episode of From S2. Epic day.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 28/06/2023 18:24

Today I wafted gaily (aka worked my butt off), will lounge on my chaise lounge all evening (nurse a migraine) before an exciting few days touring the country (travelling for work)

How delighful

<peeps over the wall> Can I come in too ? Another CF (child free not cheeky fucker) here.

strawberryicecream6464 · 28/06/2023 18:28

Love this thread, needed a laugh. I've had a 3 hour child free nap after work. Only have a shower, sadly no bath here.

Aside from going to the dentist, it sounds a very pleasant day.

TheDogsMother · 28/06/2023 18:33

My ex business partner asked me once what I did with all my spare time considering I don't have children. I explained that I just sat there sadly (in the bath probably) for hours on end, day after day 🤣

keyboardkat · 28/06/2023 19:10

Watered the garden flowers. Forgot that I had done them and did it again in a dream like state. Then put feed in the watering can and forgot about it, that was 2pm have to do it now.

Spent an arm and a leg on shite from online shops. Well 40 quid anyway, but it took me three hours to hit the button.

Poured a huge glass of M+S fiery ginger ale, and am still coughing from it.

Off to check where I might go on the first day the schools are back. Thessaloniki, Petra, Israel, a bit of the Camino, Norwegian Fjiords, too many choices, but looking is great.

Staying away from the dark side here for a little while.

FufferPish · 28/06/2023 19:53

On a related note, when DO the schools start in September? I still need to book as well 😀

So ... just out of interest .... how do you decide whether a thread is made up or not? Is it just that, when you read it, it's just too outlandish in some way to possibly be true? Just curious, because, I've often thought it myself but have no real way of knowing why I think that.

Whenever I read a thread and think 'really though?' then it's usually a safe bet it's fake.

I've been here a while and you recognise some, the writing style etc.

Haven't seen poo troll for a while though.

JorisBonson · 28/06/2023 19:58

@keyboardkat amazing trips! My friend is doing a trek to Petra in November. I am far too lazy 😂

Just dropping in to say I love this board.

Only have a second due to my hectic life of swanning about drinking prosecco, going on long holidays and not funding nephew's private school from my big stash of cash.

Ah yes, travel (or even the armchair equivalent) is one of life's great pleasures!

I too am lazy. Very. So my walk on the Camino would be just 10k over two days just to step foot on it. Then a private transfer to the nearest city for a recovery period. I don't have any gear and wouldn't fit in with the Camino crowd anyway I reckon. I'm not into hiking poles or big bears rucksacks on my back or the "right" shoes either!

I shall have to go to the Fjiords on a cruise with a balcony. No moving around, peel me a grape and pour me a drink kind of thing.

Ladies, I've just learned that we childfree are pushing late abortions. Are any of you willing to drag yourselves out of your baths tomorrow to go and wave placarsd outside some obs & gynae wards? I'll bring a picnic.

Things like gentleman's relish and quails eggs? I reckon that's what we eat.

IMO Gentleman's Relish is for the plebs. Caviar all the way. I'll swing past Fortnums tomorrow and pick some up, I have plenty of time.

I stumbled upon a reddit section one day full of people posting their made up Mumsnet posts. It's quite bonkers what people will do for a reaction. The thing is most of them were run of the mill topics, so I side eye everything on here now!

Just popping in after a long day attending my Witch conference in a fancy hotel. Grand High Witch had some great ideas so I’m excited for the future!
Nice to get my wig off and kick off my pinchy shoes though.

I'm very suspicious about the current rash of threads about what shit people childfree women are so soon after the creation of this board

They often seem to be by first time/name change posters too. I have a suspicious that if they hadn't name changed there would be some links to the posters who where so vehemently against the creation of this board

Great minds think alike. That did occur to me when I was reading the abortion one, that it's to goad us out of hiding and make remarks that will prove how awful we really are. Fortunately on that and the childfree poster whose friend wants her and her childfree mates to baby sit, there are a lot of parents defending OP and her friends.

This has been going a while and so far we haven't been invaded by incels and anti-natalists. Much, I'm sure, to some people's dismay.

And childfree women in general, in the case of the abortion thread. Got my grammar a bit cattywampus there.

After a wedding at the weekend where both my single and childfree choices were questioned, and then some of the threads I've seen in last few days, this board and this thread have made me smile!

I've actually had a very unexpectedly gentle day - did some sorting of a friend's storage unit this morning, met my mum for lunch and then ambled round shops, came home and napped and now having dinner 😁

Has this board only recently been created? I saw it mentioned in the children woman with friend who wants her friends to provide childcare thread, assumed it had been here a long time. Why were people against it? Sorry for my noobiness.

beeskipa · 28/06/2023 20:59

Sorry ladies, I would post more but I'm too busy not giving my mother a chance to be a grandma and selfishly booking Christmas Eve off at work.

Because we would attract incels, and unsavoury people to mumsnet

Because we shouldn't be here anyway

Because mums are a minority and the childfree are their oppressors

That said there were some lovely parents who wholeheartedly came out in support for the board
