I was a little shocked after having a quick read through of their expectations list thingy, all sounded right to be fair but at the end of the day these are our homes. For example a seperate reading area, clearly defined with shelves for treasure baskets and books. Dont get me wrong, In my main 'toy' room It is full of toys, large shelves with books and tubs for toys, a couple of beanbags etc, but even in my fairly large room, I cant see where i would kind of split it off without taking away all the floor space iykiwm

Does anyone know if all CM's will be getting this? I am in Surrey and haven't heard anything about it, just had a letter to go and collect a free box of musical instruments.

SammyK · 18/01/2009 09:50

God I could so do with a cash injection! Our LA and CM network seem to be hiding in their cupboards since last september.

BradfordMum · 18/01/2009 10:43

We've been able to apply for £2500 now, and the chance in April to apply for larger amounts for extensions etc. I am planning o. Converting the garage to a playroom with seperate entrance so my home will become home again.

Bumping for SMM reply

CrackopentheBaileys · 20/01/2009 12:43

bradford Mum, who on earth do you apply to for £2500, and what are the criteria? I could do with a crate of malibu and some new jewellery boost of toys in the playroom

tigersmum · 21/01/2009 15:02

Every authority has been given money from the capital grant. Each authority got different amounts and it is to be used on specific items, for instance, laptops, digital cameras, copiers, scanners, musical instruments, books and help extending outdoor provision. This grant is available for the next 3 years starting last April. It is to be shared between Nurseries, playgroups and childminders, if you have not had your fair share yet get onto your Sure Start who can point you in the direction of the person reponsible for giving it out and then demand your share. My authority have not given a bean out yet but I will get my fair share or there will be trouble.

nomoreamover · 21/01/2009 15:32

this is amazing! interesting what they keep quiet isn't it......

CrackopentheBaileys · 22/01/2009 15:23

I have just enquired to my LA, apparently we are in an 'affluent area' so they didn't get as much from the gvt as some other areas. They are using theirs for EYFS training mostly, and we are all gettikng a music set, book set and 'goody bag'. All sounds fair on their part, but not so fair on the gvt's part. Who's to say that I'm affluent? I wouldn't be working if I was

no1childminder · 22/01/2009 15:56

Elliea123 - im in surrey too but havent heard anything bout free musical instruments. is there a contact num or anything??
