Good Morning.

Two toddlers, my 4 year old, 2 schoolies. Two school goers to school, the rest of us to CM friend for DS's settling in for when I am at uni on Thursdays next year, back home for lunch and toddlers sleep, collect one school child, one hour later collect other school child, all children leave by 5.30, off to DS's nativity play, collapse and wait for tomorrow.....

20 hours of childminding left for the year.

Morning! Too many hours left for me (not even going to start counting down yet as will depress me

DD came home from school yesterday with very high temp. Took her to docs and not worried about temp as (not sure how as didn't get it ) think it's related to the fact that her airways are blocked because of asthma so have put her on steroids which have already had an effect. She has stopped coughing a lot and hasn't had a temperature since about 6pm last night (about an hour after we have first lot of steroids). She is DESPERATE to go to school today but I really don't know what to do. School only sent her home because of temperature (not asthma) and as she hasn't got a temperature now, can and should I send her? If I do, I will tell teacher all the above and ask what she thinks but I don't want teacher to think I am trying to palm her off when I'm certainly not. ADVICE??!!

NumberFour · 18/12/2008 06:53

Ouch. Difficult one.

There is so much on at schools and the children don't want to miss out. I say send her! If you DD is up to it, let her go. You know that you are not palming her off on the school - does it really matter if anyone at school thinks that you are? And your DD could of course go home again if she starts to feel off colour again!

Let her go and enjoy the last few Christmassy days of term !

That's what I think! She's only in reception so this is all so new and exciting (preschool just isn't the same!) for her! I will tell them that I do not want to send her poorly, but that she seems much better and really wants to come and to call me if they need to but I don't think they will have to. She will have more steroids again this morning so should be even more likely to be ok!

Thanks NumberFour

I would tell the teacher she was desperate to come but that you are nearby and able to collect her if she feels unwell again? Hope she is ok. DD1 has an inhaler and spent all night coughing (she is 4) so i may keep her off today and take her to nursery tomorrow for her xmas concert. Give her a chance to rest up today iyswim?

My flu is almost gone but i reckon i have a UTI now. Will flush today with lots of fluids and hope it goes away lol.

Little mindee going away early today but parents not sure when so will need to wait in this afternoon for grandad to come. May ask when they arrive for an idea of when she will go as i have loads to do today.

Have a good day x

good morning girls, 15 hours for me, and only one child tomorrow

I have decided not to do any sorting of the house till after Christmas, going to take next week to rest, (well say rest, I have people to see, Dads for Hanukkah on Monday, Christmas Tea, with family we wont see on Christmas Day, on Sunday,) so maybe not rest but not work either.

Then day after Boxing Day get stuck in and declutter and sort ready for the packers and Removals o come in.

NumberFour · 18/12/2008 07:35

Good luck with the settleing in No4, hope your dd is ok SB, AGal, hope that you don't get a full blown UTI and hope that dd is ok and Shoshe - have fun with dgd, and your travelling before you pack up.

I only have till around 6.30pm tomorrow still to work thank goodness!!!

I feel soooo ill today again. 2 of my mindees parents are off this week. One cos Uni has finished and the other is ill and needs a week in bed. It's times like this i almost wish i went out to work. I can't imagine how great it must to go to bed when i am ill lol

LoveMyGirls · 18/12/2008 08:32

I felt a bit better last night and was round my mums wrapping pressies but about 3am this morning I felt like I'd been run over by a train and still feel like it despite having 2 beechams flu, 2 paracetamol and 2 iprobrufen (am hoping they kick in soon!) I'm even off tea, haven't drunk a full cup for ages! I'm not eating much either which is a good thing though!

Whats up with you agal?

aGalChangedHerName · 18/12/2008 08:35

Have had this flu thing all week and woke during the night with really sore back and achy tummy. Def a UTI starting so busy flushing with lots of water and painkillers.

Can sometimes ward i full blown attack off. Am prone to them when i am ill or run down.
Arrrgghhh totally fed up. Still got DD1's teachers xmas pressie to get so that's this mornings job.

Hope you dont get sick too xx

SammyK · 18/12/2008 08:56

Hmm, my flu symptoms have faded today, but I also woke up with a very bad back and achey/dodgy tummy! So feel marginally better today n yesterday.

I'm going to go count my hours left to inspire me to soldier on . . .

SammyK · 18/12/2008 08:59

Ooh 18 hours left to work maximum!

LucyTownsend · 18/12/2008 09:36

So looking forward to Xmas! Have the day off today to pamper myself and rest my poor achy head and only 7 hours of minding left tomorrow!

DD's 1st Christmas this year too, going to go mad with little christmas outfits to embarrass her when she gets older

COOLiciclepuddleonfloor · 18/12/2008 09:54

I am sooo cross today. Yesterday one of my mindees mum said when picking up her DD, that it would be her last day today. I was a bit shocked but accepted it.

So I had a day off today, or so I thought, she turned up this morning, DD in hand and said she had an interview with nursery today and left her DD. I said, but you told me yesterday was her last day, She said oh did I. . I was so . I wasnt even dressed.

Anyway thats our job isnt it, to be abused and taken for granted. [whinge over now]

Sorry to hear that a few of you are still ill. Hope you all get better real soon.

leonifay · 18/12/2008 10:53

feeling like crap today, had to ring parent and tell them i couldnt have minde...parent was not happy. i've got an operation planned for this evening/tomorrow so i was doing them a faviour by taking him today anyway, then working on monday, with my dh helping me, againg shouldnt really be doing it, but parents were stuck, then working xmas eve and boxing day then all of new year when i really didnt want to, plus said mindee has been sick all week, sleeping in a pushchair at softplay, his faviroute place in the whole world apparantly! then asking for a little lie down on the sofa. when i rung his mum she just said he'd be fine and not to worry too much about it. even when he started throwing up she wouldnt come and collect him. i'm a total push over. he walked through the door yesterday and threw up, parent just said it was travel sickness and he would perk up. and to top it all off turned off her phone because i was 'calling too many times'! i am so angry and am seriously considering telling parent to stick it after the abuse i got on the phone, because she doesnt think i'm sick enough to take the day off. i tried to explain that because of my operation i cant risk being sick, nad its just one day, but she went on about how i should have him tommorow as i'm sick today. she cant see to get through her thick head that i'm having an operation and will be in hospital and knocked out for most of tommorow.

sorry about the rant, just needed to scream alittle!

leonifay · 18/12/2008 10:54

sorry that was very me me me, i really hope thoes who are ill or have dcs who are ill get better soon. and that atleast everyones christmas is...i want to say relaxing but not sure that the right word here!!

Orangutan · 18/12/2008 11:08

Take it easy leonifay, good luck for op tomorrow. Puking mindee should really be @ home with mum, she sounds evil!

LoveMyGirls · 18/12/2008 11:55

Leonifay - treating you like that is NOT on at all I would give notice immediately and no way would I be giving up my time off over christmas to help such an ungrateful, abusive, uncaring mother! I hope your op goes well and you are better soon!

NumberFour · 18/12/2008 12:20

leonifay: two words for those parents - and second one is OFF.

Give notice. But get the next month's pay first (she says from experience )
