Tea and sympathy for No.4 hope your day goes better today.

I have a parent like your 13 month olds one.

I have been lucky over the last few years and they have been brilliant, one of the new ones is very precious.

but then my oldest mindees Mother was, 7 years on, she laughs and says 'Did I really say and do those things' So we all learn.

Hi everyone,

Hope the day goes well for you all

I've been mulling over dd2 being at nursery......wondering what you lot think? At the moment she goes 3 afternoons a week but from Jan she will get 5 free mornings so the question is should I keep her there for the afternoons 3 days a week as well as the mornings? My thinking behind it is at the moment I take her to toddler groups in the morning then she has 3 afternoons of a fun filled activities and mixing with her own age groups and taking instructions from adults apart from family when she goes in the mornings if I pick her up at 11.30 she will come home with me and I'll have to try and keep her entertained but quiet while the 2 mindees have their nap which is not much fun for either of us tbh I do that for 2 days at the moment and though its nice to get some one to one time with her its the thought of trying to do it 5 days a week that makes me think maybe it would be better if she had a mixture 3 days at nursery and 2 afternoons at home with me, 3 year olds are not keen on being quiet and I'm not keen on having the 2 mindees woken up and them being grumpy for the rest of the afternoon. I've always said children under 3 are best with a cm'er but children over 3 gain a lot from nursery.
If she was a mindee and her mum was asking me what to do I'd say nursery (used to do the afternoon with a 3yr old I had last year and I still have her now) so why do I feel like a bad mum?

Morning everyone.

Numberfour - I know where you are coming from. I had a parent who thankfully left at the summer. Anyway she went absolutely ballistic at me for allowing her 2yo to catch a cold (obviously from me!!!) then turn up the next day with him with a blowtorch wound on his face FFS????

Some things are unavoidable but some things are downright avoidable and she bloody lectured me!! I was absolutely furious.

Anyway what im trying to say is you unfortunately get parents like this but just dont put up with their nonsense. You know, like I did, you are in the right here.

Lovemygirls - I also know where you are coming from, as I have to leave my DS3 at nursery in the afternoons and go home with a couple of mindees. Its just not fair and it took a while for him and me to get used to it. But sometimes you have to do what is best for your child

So on that note I am still waiting for my first mindee to arrive. 15 mins late and the second will be here in 15 mins

My DS3 is still in bed as he was up again at 4am this morning.

Have a good day all.

AAAHHHHHHH Just got back from our walk and there's a message on my answer machine that Ofsted called and want to talk to me about my upcoming inspection and will call later. I'm done on the paperwork front apart from the SEF, but my first aid ran out 4 mths ago I am booked on a course but that's not until early december!!! I read your thread sammyk, any other childminders been marked down for this or if you have confirmation of the book is that ok??

mumlove · 21/11/2008 11:54

Morning everyone.

Just found out that another of the pp that came to visit has gone to another cm .
I am going to have to see what other jobs I can do on Thusdays and Fridays soon, but what do I do if the mindee who comes about once a month on a thursday needs that day? Mum having another baby in Feb so will go on maternity leave until about next Nov so need to have a chat with her to see if both will be comming back.

The only other thing I have though about is fostering but not sure how that will work with cm. I do have a spare bedroom where mindees currently sleep.

LoveMyGirls · 21/11/2008 12:44

I've spoken to the nursery and dd2 can only do mornings so that means she will miss out on toddler groups with me and I'll pick her up in time to come home for lunch then we'll have to find something quiet to do while mindee's sleep, can anyone give me idea's? Because she's mine she won't sit and do activities with me like the others do and she throws the mother of all screaming tantrums while they're trying to sleep. I'm a bit out of practice with having 2 smaller ones sleeping but a loud 3 yr old that wants to scream run around etc, I feel awful as well that she will be on her own with no-one to play with for the best part of the afternoon. I've got into the habit of using the bit of peace I get in the afternoons for preparing dinner, doing paperwork and having my lunch and getting 5 minutes. I've got from Jan 09 to sept 10 until she goes to school.......

SammyK · 21/11/2008 13:26

Mumlove we are currently applying to be foster carers, it was explained to me that my local authority view it as a conflict of interest doing both, for example going to case meetings and what have you - what would you do with mindees? I have decided I don't want to cm forever anyhow, and have said as application draws to the end will hand in notice as they line up a match for us. Our spare room has bunks in it so could foster siblings.

Sorry to hear about PP going elsewhere, I think you just have to look at it as it wasn't meant to be with that family, and hope another lovely one come along soon.

mumlove · 21/11/2008 19:13

Evening everyone.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful weekend.

I am meeting with a mum next week for ad hoc care while she looks for a job, so it could lead to more hours if she gets a job local.

I am off to bed to watch tv and sleep as feel so tired this week.

PinkChick · 21/11/2008 20:33
