I am apalled at our AP - she let DS poo in the park

I have not posted this under AIBU because I know I am not. DS is 5 and more than capable of holding it in.

What do you think of this? This is a park as in with fields and trees, not swings and slides. He wiped his bum on a leaf!

I think we would like to hear from the au pair, now, Jeremy Kyle stylie.

MrsMattie · 11/09/2008 17:47

I let my son poo/wee discreetly in the park if he is desperate. I wouldn't go off at an AP for this, honestly!

LynetteScavo · 11/09/2008 17:47

Just so I know... how should she have cleaned it up. If you don't ave a nappy bag, or plstic shopping bag with you what do you do?

nowirehangers · 11/09/2008 17:48

How experienced is the ap?
There's nothing to strike fear of god into you like a child announcing they need a poo when a loo is not seconds away - my dd1 announced it on the way home from nursery yesterday and I dragged her back as fast as I could
But she is my dd and I was gambling on the fact she could hold on that distance, if she wasn't mine I'd be a lot less sure
Give the poor girl the benefit of the doubt and say to your ds gosh you must have needed a poo really badly. Unless he tells you he didn't and just fancied pooing in a bush I think you needn't worry

nowirehangers · 11/09/2008 17:49

at posting twice

ChupitosGalore · 11/09/2008 17:53

oh well one should always be carrying nappy sacks when out and about with a small child, non? we are WOMEN, we must at all times be prepared to deal with the dirty jobs in life... lol

ChupitosGalore · 11/09/2008 17:54

[checks stock in mary poppins bag and starts whistling about kites]

OneLieIn · 11/09/2008 17:55

chupitos, I needed the footnote! I have 2 - so there

Lol at Blu

BTW, she had 2 carrier bags with her, they had gone leaf collecting.

Just out of interest, at what age do you all think it is not OK to poo in the park?

OP posts:
Blu · 11/09/2008 17:57

Well, if I was desparate, I would poo in the park.

ChupitosGalore · 11/09/2008 17:57

well, provided you pick it up and take it away in a plakky bag (not an appealing prospect, and liable to put off the casual shitter imo), id say any age is ok if youre really desparate and taken by suprise. watch out for passers by tho!

ChupitosGalore · 11/09/2008 17:58

lol blu
we are the feral ones on this thread

Blu · 11/09/2008 17:59

I wouldn't advocate it..wouldn't expect to see articles in the sunday paper about 'wild pooing' etc - although it is pesumably a feature of the 'wild camping' that is suddenly all the rage.

OneLieIn · 11/09/2008 18:00

PMSL Blu

OK, you all might be right but I know you'd all clean up!

OP posts:
Blu · 11/09/2008 18:01

I would do my best to clean up...but not to the extent of stuffing in unwrapped in my Orla Keilly.

ChupitosGalore · 11/09/2008 18:02

preferable to the twice daily VILE job of emptying the cassette toilet on the campervan i would wager [vom]

Blu · 11/09/2008 18:03

I once had to change a tampon while out on the fells in the lake district. I did bury that under rocks and moss - I didn't want a buzzard thinking it was some snack and flying off over the heads of other walkers with it dangling from it's beak.

LyraSilvertongue · 11/09/2008 18:06

DSs have done many an open air poo. We find somewhere discreet, among trees or bushes. I always have wipes in my bag so I wipe their bums and use the wipe to pick up the poo and put it in a dog poo bin/carrier bag until I can get to a bin.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 11/09/2008 18:10

Surely you just clear it up and put it in a dog poo bin. most parks have them. I'm sure there are not any rules and mixing human and dog pog

Sorry, but its BAD to hold it in. Obviously if you're close to home, then yes, try to hold it in, but I would have no issues letting DD poo. I'd clear it up, obviously.

Much better to poo in the park than in pants. DD (nearly three) needed a "poo right NOW mummy" and we were no where near a toilet; DH was due to pick us up and she couldn't wait, so she did a poo in her pants (lovely)... I would imagine easier to clean up if in the park, than smushed into pants tbh!!

Reallytired · 11/09/2008 18:11

I think you are being anal about this.

An au pair is a young girl with very little experience or training in childcare. A lot of five or even six year olds do have accidents. Its not unheard of. An au pair is a mother's help not a qualified nanny.

If you want someone who doesn't make silly mistakes then employe a proper nannny and pay the proper wage.

ChupitosGalore · 11/09/2008 18:11

ah, welcome to our feral quiche lyra

pmsl blu - of course, if you were using instead instead of tampons you wouldnt have needed to change it y'know [wise]

(am on a mission to reeducate the masses as i think these things rock )

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 11/09/2008 18:11

(this brings back memories of doing a massive walk for DofE and the pub not allowing us in to go to the loo, so we had to wee in the field - pretty sure one of us crouched on nettles)

ChupitosGalore · 11/09/2008 18:13

oh RT, thats a bit below the belt. but i'll forgive you as youre really tired (cant speak for OLI of course, she may be shooting daggers for all i knw)

ChupitosGalore · 11/09/2008 18:13

elf - OUCH!

OneLieIn · 11/09/2008 18:16

Reallytired, you must be reallytired to post like that!
