Need someone to look after the children while you pop out? Ideally someone your children know?

Just for an hour or so for a Doctors appointment, the Dentist, if your hair needs cutting or just some shopping.

We have open mornings every other Tuesday, the next one is 9th September between 10-11am at

Sounds good to me! Great concept as well

smeeinit · 03/08/2008 21:48

sounds good to me katy, and a fantastic idea too!

KatyMac · 03/08/2008 21:49

Really?

Do you think it will work?

Am I allowed an opinion as a childminder user?

If so....

What a FAB idea, katymac - going to the gym/exercising might be another one...

KatyMac · 03/08/2008 21:53

Does it come across as pushy? Or desperate?

OP posts:
smeeinit · 03/08/2008 21:55

i really think its a good idea, not 2 pushy either.
hope it works for you.

KatyMac · 03/08/2008 21:58

The top line is very big

I think it comes across as business like - not pushy or desparate, and I'd assume it was a new venture (not something I've heard of round here at least)

My only nervousness as a potential user would be:

  • will it be very expensive (expectation of ad hoc childcare)
  • will they have spaces when I need them/how far in advance do i need to book
funnypeculiar · 03/08/2008 21:59

x-post

KatyMac · 03/08/2008 22:01

We currently, funnypeculiar have 7 F/T spaces

I was going to charge £4 an hour (normal rate £3.50)

What do you think?

Or should it be lower as I can't guarantee it?

OP posts:
funnypeculiar · 03/08/2008 22:11

I reckon 50p more is very fair for ah-hoc-ness, so I'd be tempted to put the hourly rate in. (but that be because £4 would be cheap round here

Can't think of an easy way to say 'lots of space available' without sounding desperate , other than making it clear this is a new service (I'd therefore assume not overbooked yet)

KatyMac · 03/08/2008 22:14

Hmm - I was inclined to suggest I had been doing it for ages (even tho' it is new)

Maybe I could imply that September is less full as regulars go up to school then?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 03/08/2008 22:33

Any other opinions?

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/08/2008 22:41

A new angle, Katy - one of the Cms here does ad-hoc work only (can't remember who) and does v well.

Give it a whirl and see what the response is

Glad to see that you are still battling away. You go, girl.

KatyMac · 03/08/2008 22:57

Wel I have to keep at it

Too many people depend upon me

Should I put the price in?

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/08/2008 23:01

Yes, put the price in.

Am assuming that you will have your logo/ofsted outstanding logo on there somewhere?

KatyMac · 03/08/2008 23:03

Yep & my logo

I am also re-branding from

Childminding@WC

to

Childcare@WC

I think, maybe, or even just WC - but if it's WC they don't know I offer childcare - Oh I don't know

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/08/2008 23:08

Childcare is good, I like that v much.
