Coc is a change of circumstances, they take 27/28 weeks.
An MR is a mandatory reconsideration, asking them to re-look at the award if you think your child hasn’t received what they’re entitled to. They take around 5-8 weeks apparently x

LizBennet · 13/10/2023 19:41

High rate mobility is only available at 3 years old, lower is for children 5 and above x

PinkMoscatoLover · 13/10/2023 19:42

@Ivegotsunshineinabag scan date is 11/08 and they asked for her birth certificate 6 weeks in. I think there was some confusion on her name as they had it down as a double barrel surname but it’s not. I’m guessing they wanted her birth certificate to check but I have no clue. Sometimes they do random checks and sometimes they ask to confirm details. I wouldn’t think much of it really, it’s not impacted our claim at all.

@Mrsstephens04 COC is change of circumstances. People who already have an ongoing claim can submit a COC form to state that their child’s needs/mobility has improved or got worse. MR is a mandatory reconsideration. That’s when a claim has been declined or an award has been given and the parent believes the award should be higher. You ask for reasons why the decision was made and ask for the claim to be looked at again. Think of it as an appeal.

A child can be awarded any rate of care as long as they’ve had the issues for longer than 3 months. In order to get HRC there must be substantial overnight care. A child can get HRM from age 3 and LRM from age 5. Hope that makes sense

Hi

Is it usual to be asked to provide a birth certificate immediately after sending in an application?
Did that happen to anyone else?

thanks

I was never asked for a birth certificate and form was scanned at the end of May, should I be worried?

LizBennet · 13/10/2023 19:43

Explained better by @PinkMoscatoLover 👍🏻

Mrsstephens04 · 13/10/2023 19:47

Thank you so much x

PinkMoscatoLover · 13/10/2023 19:48

@RMNofTikTok nope you shouldn’t be worried. Most people don’t get asked for the birth certificate. I wasn’t asked when I sent off DS’ claim and his scan date was in March. For some reason I was asked for DD’s birth certificate and her scan date was only 5 months later. Don’t worry about it!

Haha @LizBennet we cross posted😆

Thank you! Scan date was 28th June so getting close, she was diagnosed with autism on Tuesday but I have a feeling the autism report won't be back on time! At least I will have it for MR if needed 😊

RMNofTikTok · 13/10/2023 19:50

Not 28th May 28th June!

Mumtotwoboys121 · 13/10/2023 21:02

They can do yes it depends on your bank. I'm with Barclays and if I'm due a payment Mondays I always get it on the Saturday 🙂x

Muva306 · 13/10/2023 21:25

@Mumtotwoboys121 i was awarded on Wednesday, I’ve not received a payment yet
so I’m guessing Monday or maybe Tuesday. The told me on the phone my normal payment date going forwards,

** edited - I think the payment may go into Tuesday and my normal payment date going forwards will be 17th if every month

@Kelmum2three i didn’t know that!! Thank you for sharing!! These threads have taught me so much and really are invaluable for knowledge and information sharing!! Thank you 💗💗 xx

Mrsstephens04 · 13/10/2023 22:36

That totally makes sense thank you so much for making it all alot more understandable, I still have a long waiting time for a decision yet but thought it was worth finding out more information just incase it's a decline, I'd be uncertain to what rate he would even be in titled too if awarded but I suppose that depends on the individual child/needs ect, someone else mentioned there is 3 parts for DLA but I'm unsure if that's true so I'm not sure if you'd know or if anyone else would know but apparently it's a payment for rate of care H,M or L rate... a rate of mobility which is either high or low and a 3rd payment of carers allowance.... I'm leaning more toward this not being correct as it seems alot

No worries. I already get dla for my youngest so understand most of it I think 😂. You'll also get a huge £10.00 bonus in your December payment lol. Remember to update or apply for UC even if you're not entitled atm as you could get the disability child & carers element, plus carers allowance if you get Mrc (not sure about hrc as I don't get that only lower) that's what we get for my little girl. xx

I just typed a whole response and I lost it🙃

So there’s only two parts to DLA - care and mobility. However if your child is awarded DLA then you’re also entitled to additional payments.

If your child gets MRC or HRC then you can get the carer element added onto your UC claim which is £185 and something pence each month. If your child gets LRC or MRC then you can get the disabled child element which is £146 and something pence. If your child gets HRC then you can get the disabled child element which is £456 and something pence. All of these elements will be added to your UC entitlement before any deductions.

Carers allowance is something you can apply for as long as you earn less than £139 a week. You won’t be better off claiming carers allowance as it gets deducted from your UC pound for pound. Some people prefer to claim it as you can request to get the money weekly and it helps with budgeting. It also protects your NI contributions too. If you earn more than £139 a week then you won’t be eligible for carers allowance. Hope that all makes sense

I have been the same, struggling to sleep and it’s all I think about! Really hope it’s positive news for us x

Georgia1721 · 14/10/2023 07:19

@MummyBrx I spent all week 16/17 like that, I was going out of my mind. I still am as was 18 weeks yesterday. I didn’t worry as much when I knew it was with the decision maker

Lovely17 · 14/10/2023 08:08

@MummyBrx im 20/06 so only a few days between us, hopefully you’ll hear this week, I’m sure you will. Someone mentioned they are working weekends to get through the backlog too, so that’s good to know.
im glad I joined this thread, its kinda comforting to know that other people are actually feeling anxious as hell over this & even losing sleep! We can all keep each other going until we get the decision… hope the weekend hurries up so I can call them on Monday! I didn’t realise how impatient I am until I made this claim haha x

I actually dreamt about it the other night . I was denied in my dream , and woke up really stressed . 😩

Lovely17 · 14/10/2023 08:28

@allofthelove aww that’s awful, it’s funny how much of your life it can take over, I know there’s loads of other people in the same position but surely in 2023 there shouldn’t be waits like we have now … like there’s got to be an easier way to sort this out for people.. one of my friends waited 13 weeks for decision, 2 weeks after that I put my claim in… now I’m nearly 17 weeks waiting. Crazy how waiting times can change so quickly. X
