Good luck everyone and all the kind people kept me going xxxx

Tmxx · 27/09/2023 10:19

@Mumofkidsx3 thank you for replying about scan dates! I unfortunately didn't ring up for the forms 😬 I printed them out myself at home so now have an even longer wait! I really wish I rang for the forms instead!

Mumofkidsx3 · 27/09/2023 11:49

Folks who have just recently had a decision, I’ve received the appointed person letter but not the award letter, did you all receive the award letter first?, I’m thinking maybe mines been lost in post 🥴

Ohh 🥴 hopefully the DMs will start to speed up now they’ve gotten over the summer holidays 😅🤞 good luck

Chloec211 · 27/09/2023 12:03

@Mumofkidsx3 i don’t even know what an appointed person letter is? The only letters I’ve had is when they received the form x

Chloec211 · 27/09/2023 12:04

@Mumofkidsx3 i rang this morning and found out they made the decision to award yesterday. My scan date was 30th may x

zilchnadazero · 27/09/2023 12:28

I also have the 'appointed person' letter but no letter about award amount etc.

Kyarcy1316 · 27/09/2023 12:38

My scan date is the 30th so will be around the same time so doing this ti keep an eye

zoeybrooks45 · 27/09/2023 12:44

Anybody had success backdating till the day of call to request form? My scan date if a few days after due to them taking a while to scan it in. The lady said that award date on the system is when I originally called but scan date is after and ultimately it’s up to DM. I didn’t realised you had to send it first tracked back then, just used the free post.

Mastersstudent83 · 27/09/2023 12:54

Scan date 23/5. Decision made yesterday. My claim was rejected despite senco report, ASC and anxiety diagnosis report, list of prescriptions, paediatrician reports, selective mutism diagnosis report. Dd has a demand avoidant profile but her refusal episodes were basically dismissed as tantrums and her anxiety based school avoidance has been deemed a choice as no EHCP! I'm so gutted. Going to go for Mandatory Reconsideration. Anyone else had successful award with similar evidence? Do I have a good case for MR? Don't know what further evidence I can provide tbh!

Chloec211 · 27/09/2023 13:18

@Mastersstudent83 whose dismissing them as tantrums? Dwp? I sent in no evidence but the evidence isn’t the main thing that just backs up your claim. You need to prove that the care you provide is over and above what a child a similar age is given. I’ve never had a mandatory reconsideration but can they send out what you put to review that? It’s hard to say what you do on a day to day basis as we’re just used to doing it. Not having an EHCP proves nothing! That’s another battle in itself x

Mumofkidsx3 · 27/09/2023 13:33

@Chloec211 it’s just the letter telling me that I am the responsible adult for his claim and about informing them of change in circumstances ect ect.

First time I ever heard that, when I called for the forms I was told then that all successful claims are backdated to day of the call. There is one person on here that downloaded the forms and didn’t call so I guess in that circumstance it would be scan date

Yeah I’m now going to enter the battlefield of EHCPs 😏 my boys both need it for when they move forwards in education, one in yr5 one in yr10 so I’m hoping that’s enough time to get it sorted. I’ve been waiting on SENDIASS for help but seems like they’re too full.

Mastersstudent83 · 27/09/2023 13:41

Thanks @Chloec211 . I used the cerebra guide to help me and included so much detail about refusal episodes to leave house, to continue walking, to go to the loo, have a drink even. Sensory stress causing meltdowns and avoidance of busy or unfamiliar places, use of ear defenders etc. Multiple times a day cleaning up after soiled nappies and clothing due to toilet avoidance. She is 9 years old and still in nappies, not sure how this is a normal amount of care for her age 🤔 Daily meltdowns, physical violence. Report from senco and paediatrician both support she is home educated because of anxiety, not lifestyle choice. So confused.

Wow reading all that it’s ridiculous that she’s been declined. Sounds like you’ve covered everything as well.I hope 🤞 when you do MR you will get a better DM

Mastersstudent83 · 27/09/2023 13:48

Thanks @Mumofkidsx3. I know! It seems like this particular DM just doesn't believe in/understand her profile at all.

Chloec211 · 27/09/2023 13:57

@Mastersstudent83 sounds like you’ll definitely win on appeal or mandatory reconsideration whatever it is. Can’t believe you got no award! That’s crazy! Yeah I’ve managed to just get EHCP approved after 2 declines 🙄 just have to fight for everything. Bigger back dates payment for you when you finally get paid though

. I had a lot of trouble with “professionals” aka teachers and drs telling me, the way my son was, was due to shyness and laziness when he was younger. He was noticeably behind in his understanding of the world and desire to engage with it, but he had reached his early years milestones JUST about. The way he was treated and misunderstood in schools meant I ended up homeschooling him until he was 9, because he just couldn’t cope with it. He is 14 now and diagnosed with ASD and focal epilepsy at age 11. He’s struggling through high school but he’s doing it and caught up to his peers with education.
The professionals have diagnosed your daughter so I don’t really think the DLA Dms are qualified enough to say they’re wrong 😑.Hang in there 💪 I’ve got everything crossed 🤞 for you

Mastersstudent83 · 27/09/2023 14:26

Thanks so much @Chloec211 and @Mumofkidsx3 . I'll let you know how I get on. Just on hold to citizens advice to see if they can help with appeal. So exhausted but I'll keep fighting! 💪

Chloec211 · 27/09/2023 14:48

@Mumofkidsx3 that's what I was thinking! Surely their job is to read what the other professionals say and make a decision based on that information. Sorry just realised it was you talking about ehcp. Good luck with that as well. My local authority probably dread my phone calls 😂 just don’t let it go. I got it in the end 💪

Hi all i am 17 weeks today and have revived an new Record of involvement report from school should i send it to DLA?

Judejane · 30/09/2023 12:14

Hi all, I put my claim in with a scan date of 27/07 so I have a while to wait yet but on Monday I have an appointment with mind therapies to discuss the outcome and potential diagnosis of a private (NICE recognised) ASD/ADHD assessment. I am preempting a diagnosis for my 9 year old and wondering what I should do if they say he has a condition. My application for DLA details my son’s difficulties and says he is on the CAMHS waiting list for neuropathways but if he actually gets the diagnosis on Monday how do I update my application? I’ve read so much on here about call wait times and not being able to get through by just calling them. Is there a form you can download to add extra info to an ongoing claim or an address I can email or write to? Thanks to anyone who can help me with this :)

Jude82 · 03/10/2023 09:24

I called this morning at 9am on the dot and got straight through for anyone who tries to call, this seems to be the best time. I got cut off after hours on hold yesterday TWICE when I tried in the afternoon! I got forms on June 19th and have scan date of July 27th. They have said it’s 18 weeks wait and so I’m looking at first week in December. I got a diagnosis of Autism for my son yesterday and there is no secure email to send his report as extra information for his claim, I now have to print it off and send it in. It is worth ringing though as they gave me an address that is not the free post address on the website. They told me to send it to Disability Benefit Centre number 4, Post Handling Site B, Wolverhampton, WV99 1BY. Just for everyone’s info
