How much does wraparound care cost??

Can anybody tell me how much they spend on childcare for school age children?

I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old and currently DH stays at home with them as I am going back to work. When they are school age it would be nice for him to find a job - but obviously if his earnings are heavily negated by wraparound care costs for 2 children, we may have to rethink.

I live in the south east and my ds's school do breakfast club which is £2.50 a day and after school club is done in hourly blocks but until 6pm is another £9 so is a max of £11.50 a day

DD3 goes to breakfast club and afterschool club most days - it is £3.75 per hour (recently increased from £3.50). This includes drinks and snacks and a light meal, if they stay until 5 or beyond.

A childminder who drops off and picks up from our school charges the same rate btw.

I'm in Lincolnshire & its £12 a day here for before school (£4, from 7:45am) & after school (£8, until 5:45pm). In the holidays, its £25 a day with 20% discount for siblings.

South Wales here. Breakfast club is free and after school club £5 for 3:30-5:30pm.

It really depends on what's available in your area.

Schools in our area don't have subsidised breakfast or after school clubs so you need to use registered childminders or childcare centres.

Ours is the cheapest in the area costing:
£9.60 (7.30-9.10am Inc taxi drop off)
£11.80 (2.45-5.30pm Inc taxi pick up)
So £21.40 per child per day during term time.

Holiday care is £24.60 per child per day.

Our school have a free breakfast club from 830 onwards where the kids can eat but it's not to be used as childcare apparently. We use a childminder in the morning who charges £5 an hour and then ASC is £6 from 3.00-5.45 however I get a slightly lower rate due to the area we live in. Childminder would still be £5 an hour for after school care so £15 instead of the £6 for ASC

In my experience I find it varies hugely. Even in the same area there can be a big difference.
I pay £2 breakfast club and £11 after school club. A friend with children at the neighbouring school has a free breakfast club and £4 for after school club.
The only way you will know is by asking the individual providers directly.

Our breakfast club if from 7.30am and is £5. After school club is until 6pm and is £15. Childminders around £4.50/hr.

Childminders you generally need to have the same hours every week and will do holiday care, the before/after-school clubs you can book as hoc subject to them having space but there is nothing in the holidays. There are a variety of holiday club providers in our town, most sports based, range from £15-£30 per day ISH.

We have breakfast club for £5 and after school club for £7.50. I am in East Anglia. Those prices include breakfast and tea.

Near Durham, breakfast club is £1.50 from 7.45 then after school club is £3.20 to 4.45pm. So £4.70 a day. Canny deal I think. In the holidays there are sports clubs run every day but only from 10-3pm and they cost £3 a session. Must be subsidised.

My mam’s school which is closer to Newcastle has free wrap around care from 7.45 to 4.30 including breakfast and a light tea. Very deprived area though where lots of kids wouldn’t get fed.

East Midlands. £4 per day breakfast club. Opens at 7.45am and no earlier.

After school club £16 per day until 6. So £20 per day!

Hampshire.
Breakfast club is £3.50 each.
After school is £9 each.
Summer / school holiday activity clubs are approx £23 a day each. And they often seem to finish at 4pm .

Primary school in Norwich is £3.25 for breakfast club from 8 am. After school club is £6.50 and it up till 5.45pm. Holiday club is £20 a full day or £12 a half day. All clubs include light meals

West Yorks - breakfast club, £3.80; a/s Club / 7.50; holiday Club - £25/day 8am to 6pm (cheaper clubs available for 10am-3pm).

Don’t forget the cost of school dinners if applicable, currently £2.12 at the DC’s school, but free up to Y3.

Quite a variable cost then. I was hoping for no more than about #400 a month for 2 kids, and live in the South East. Seems like it might be a bit of a stretch then :/

£14 after school to 6pm
£20 a day

DD starts reception in Sept and at her nursery it's £16 per day for before / after school club which is from 7.30 - 6.00.

Hampshire. Breakfast club 7:30am is £2 including breakfast.
After School club is £8 until 5:30pm including a substantial snack (soup/toasty/fruit)

School holidays are something else! Like being back in nursery! Usually get something for around £25-30 a day.

Yes one is informal and can be cancelled at short notice, not on every week and usually quite transient.
