Childminder's Club:Whats thedifference between "Good" & "Outstanding" - Parents opinion welcome as well as minders...

I have to do a self assessment form for my OFSTED visit

I am in a quandary what is "Good" what is "Outstanding" how would I justify either grading - just because I think I am "Outstanding"...am I? what would make me "Outstanding"? and what would be "Good"

Note I am rejecting the idea that I am either satisfactory/unsatisfactory or poor

It's a very hard decision to make as no matter how good I am at something there is always room fro improvement and I really strive to do my best.

What does Mumsnet think?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Is it fair that you "only" got good (which is fantastic btw) because you were a "NEW" childminder?

FS - would you say your form had much of an influence on your grade/inspection? I don't think mine did at all - she didn't ask me why I put what I did - she just shoved it in her file.

Yes Katymac, I think all inspectors are different! I certainly wouldn't worry too much about this form, it's the rest of your paperwork, policies etc. that mine was interested in. I ticked my form in a few minutes and didn't give it a second thought. Put much more into my birth to three matters folder etc.

Anyway, good luck and let us know how you get on!

Final decision - 4 goods and an outstanding in Organisation - I am almost maybe fairly certain that I have finally perhaps decided
