Update BK? How is it all working out?

bossykate · 01/12/2005 10:20

so far so good, but it's only day 3 and she won't be completely solo till this time next week. i think we learned a lot from our first experience, so - every cloud, eh? - we can put that into practice.

thanks for the good wishes

But my toes are crossed bk, hope it all goes really well this time round. With your two, what's not to like?

BK, if its any consolation, my nanny has been with us nearly 4 years and the most days she had off sick were in the first 6 months - I honestly think it is something about getting used to each other's germs. On average, she has had maybe 1-2 days off sick a year, but probably 3-4 in the first 6 months.

BluStocking · 08/12/2005 14:00

Oh, bloody hell bk...

uwila · 08/12/2005 16:50

uh oh..... but maybe it's just a fluke. I wouldn't fret too much until her second day off sick. Are you paying for sick days?

bossykate · 09/12/2005 12:54

contract says ssp only, but i intend to pay for sick time unless sure i'm being taken for a ride.

thanks for these responses

ah well, let's see what next week brings...

OP posts:
uwila · 09/12/2005 13:13

Think that's a good plan. My contract alsso says ssp, but I would only enforce it if I thought someone was taking me for a ride... and then she'd be on her way out anyway because I have very low tolerance for people who lie to me.

jules27 · 09/12/2005 17:12

Try not to worry BK i have just started a new job ( with new children and new germs) and have had to take this week off as i had a heavy cold which turned into a chest infection. I caught it off the children. Only had two days sick in my last job , again bugs caught from the children

uwila · 12/12/2005 12:00

And how's it going now? All better I hope.

i think we are cursed...

nanny's father is desperately ill and she won't be in to work this week. we are confident this is the case. however, we need feedback from her as to when she will be in again. we can cut her some slack during what is obviously a terrible period for her - but we simply cannot be in the situation where she rings on jan 3rd and says she isn't coming back.

feeling v. sorry for nanny's situation...

and actually rather fed up on our own account

i sure can pick 'em - NOT.

OP posts:
bossykate · 13/12/2005 14:24

sorry - we are confident that the nanny is telling the truth and her father is in fact ill.

You must be doing a great job of gritting your teeth, I'd be expecting to hear the screams of frustration from where I am.

Really sorry. You must be doing your nut.
