(Deep breath)

OH admitted to hospital Thursday - because I made him go!!!- with pneumonia, taken a turn for worse, not sure if he will pull through.....

Can't cope......

Managed to cancel 1 mindee for Monday, can't get hold of other parents and really not able to do face-to-face at the moment without turning into a puffa fish Sad. Feel really bad about cancelling but can't possibly look after LO when cant look after myself. Would it be wrong to send a family member round to tell them? Have arranged cover with another cm child knows and has been minded by before.

Christ I feel shite!

On top of all this DS is 6 this wk and might not get to see daddy......

Sorry all, but at least you cant here me crying SadSad, phonecalls tonight to friends have ended in floods.

Plodding on - only way to describe it.....

Chest drain put in today, already collected 850mls of fluid (that was at 7.30) Have managed to get him into a side ward but he now hasnt slept for 48 hrs - not conducive to a speedy recovery. He looks no better, is in great discomfort, still isnt eating - hasnt had proper meal for 10 days - , tongue covered in ulcers.

I'm going to ring to make appt with his consultant tomorrow - after ds been in to see him - because I cant get any info out of the staff. I know I look a bit thick but am really very intelligent and know more than they think (thank heavens for Google!!!)

We dont know what his care plan is, what the next step is, what blood and other results are - crap!

Off to concentrate on making my little boys day memorable Smile

My younger sister has been in hospital earlier this year with a very similar thing... pneumonia which turned into fluid on the lungs. Hospital she was at was not a specialist chest hospital, so they did consider transferring her but felt the journey wasn't that wise. In the end the drugs and nursing care they were giving her did sort out the infection and she's back in full health now.

Hope he recovers soon.

fab news dh is in a side room, means he should be able to get some rest&peace - plus flexible visiting hours so ds should be able to see him whenever

What a scary time. Hope your DH recovers soon.

Plus side - DS had fab time charming the nurses, even if he did spend whole time with daddy playing on his new DS Toy Story 3 game Grin

Downside, DH being transferred to another hospital tomorrow as he needs surgery - condition called 'empyema'. Thankful they know what's wrong now but worried to death about the surgery. Have now got SIL passing info to MIL as have taken executive decision that dont need their distress and worry on top of my own. New hospital closer as well - can you tell am trying to look on the positive?

You lot are so, so supportive. Will make sure I do the same for you all if you need me

Fingers crossed for a smooth day today, as smooth as possible anyway, will be thinking of you all xx

nannynick · 06/11/2010 08:56

empyema is what the hospital thought my sister had at one stage. Fortunately she responded to the drugs and didn't need surgery. Surgery has risks so not surprised you are worried to death.
Keep looking on the positive side.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/11/2010 09:01

keep thinking positive thoughts - it must be a very scary time for you all ((HUGS))

least doctors know that he has empyema and can treat accordingly with surgery/drugs etc and good news hes being moved closer to you xx

sorry you are going through this hard time, thinking of you all!

LesbianMummy1 · 06/11/2010 09:38

sorry to hear he may need surgery but they would not be moving or operating on him if they had doubts it was in his best interests.

Hope ds had a great birthday thinking of you all.
