Oh my god pinner35 is a mole- a man posing as a woman to get us all hooked and will then tell us 'she' had to do something for her husband/partner??!!!!! If not then TELL US PINNER35-I'm losing it here at 40+3 weeks!!

FortunateHamster · 26/06/2010 23:22

I wish I knew. Only four days over but am fed up of the heat. And because it's so hot (turning my feet into trotters) I feel like I can't walk anywhere, so I can't even try the long walk 'cure'. Have tried everything bar sex so far, but I just don't fancy it

herethereandeverywhere · 27/06/2010 08:18

I'm afraid nothing listed here has been proven to work with the exception of a sweep.

The NICE guidelines (think its number 55) clearly state that you should be informed that herbal remedies/castor oil/acupuncture/sexual intercourse have not been proven to induce labour.

Sweeps have been proven to work but can only be conducted in the cervix is already favourable (I was 2 weeks overdue with a cervix so tucked back the midwife couldn't reach it so it was chemical induction for me )

Pinner35 · 27/06/2010 14:27

Ha ha...I am not a mole, promise. TBH, I can't describe it.....its finding and massaging a particular pressure point on your leg. Hope all you ladies don't have too much longer to wait, especially in this heat.

Haha, let labour ward rush hour commence!

snowymum · 27/06/2010 15:10

Marjoram oil. It was frightening, actually, how quickly it worked. I wished afterwards I hadn't tinkered!

LOL - just watching the England game whilst pressing my webbing/legs lol.

Good luck all (with the labour lol)

Going to check out your link too Jennifer

Pinner35 · 27/06/2010 15:11

Yep, that looks like what she did. Good luck everyone!

TheNextMrsDepp · 27/06/2010 15:13

A cervical sweep and the very real threat of a planned (but unwanted) cs the next day.

ChocolatePants · 27/06/2010 15:14

I was a week late with DC1 and I did a 3 mile stomp across the sand dunes- nowt. Hot curry, hot sex, hot bath....nowt.

However, I think hot curry/sex/walk/bath combo can help, but only if your body is gearing up anyway, iyswim, same as all the other stuff, like marjoram etc.

ChocolatePants · 27/06/2010 15:14

@MrsDepp- yeah the thought of an unwanted section stimulated something in me too I think!

mungogerry · 27/06/2010 15:22

Well lets hope the labouring goes better than the football!

alannabanana · 27/06/2010 21:12

am marching right upstairs now and will forceably get dh doing that accupressure on me. thanks for the link jennifer.

passionberry · 27/06/2010 21:57

On the day I went into labour I took a long walk to my final midwife appointment. TBH I think it was seeing the midwife that did the trick - she said "ooh the heads right down - next time I see you will be on the labour ward!" - I had a show as soon as I got home and contractions started that evening!

DrivenToDistraction · 27/06/2010 22:00

There was one thing that worked for me, both times. Waiting. Sorry .

JenniferCanesten · 28/06/2010 14:55

I'm 39 weeks on Wednesday so I think I should probably give the little chap a bit longer - he might be putting the finishing touches to something crucial.

But not much longer, cause it's hot and I'm bored. Will begin the sex/curry/pineapple/clary sage/leg-rubbing in earnest on Friday perhaps. Sounds like a very tropical fetish party. Exciting.

fakeblondie · 28/06/2010 16:18

Wow .
Thanks everyone.
Im now 40 + 8 and as everything is fine with both of us ive declined induction at 40 + 10 and compromised on induction at 40 + 14 with daily monitoring.

I am of the belief that nothing really works except nature but just interested in otger peoples feelings ect really.

I had a sweep yesterday tho :-)

FanjolinaJolie · 28/06/2010 16:26

Walked through Ikea in its entirity then ate spicy pizza with jalapenos on it.

Both times I went into labour later that night.

But probably had nothing to do with it.

It's too hot for walking but maybe a swim or some exercise might help?

QueenofDreams · 28/06/2010 16:31

Well I tried reflexology and that definitely didn't work.
I think it was my third sweep that did it in the end. It was rather... vigorous (ouch) but I started having pains the next day. DS born at 40 +18
Pregnant with number 2 now and strangely am hoping it will be overdue. Due Christmas eve.

OrmRenewed · 28/06/2010 16:32

I ate a whole tub of Belgian chocolate ice-cream just before DS#1 arrived. That seemed to help.

honeymoonmum · 28/06/2010 16:40

Hi all - I am now 40+4 and saw consultant today (having VBAC so under doc rather than midwife) Midwife did an internal and said my cervix was soft but long and posterior so unable to reach to do seep. Consultant said it's fine to wait til next monday (when I will be 41 + 4 and then will discuss c-section that week as can't induce with VBAC)

God I hope it starts before next monday-can't bear another week like this!!!!

Had bad period pain after internal but as no sweep sure it won't have done much.

I'm hot and fed up.

fifitot · 30/06/2010 12:48

Anyone having any luck with the reflexology - or anything else for that matter?

honeymoonmum · 30/06/2010 14:31

Nope - not a sausage here- even BH have dried up. Friend on facebook who was due same day as me had hers sunday - now I'm really cross!!!!

fifitot · 30/06/2010 14:33

I only found out yesterday that they go to 40 plus 14 here before they will consider an induction. Eeek!

PinkElephant73 · 30/06/2010 21:24

I had acupuncture and a sweep (not at same time) when 40+4. Had a show later that day, lots of Braxton Hicks. went to bed with TENS machine on and woke up in labour at 3am.
