i really don't want to give birth at the side of the road but this is getting a bit worrying.

How far apart are they? Have you phoned the midwives?

DaisyMooSteiner · 09/02/2009 08:07

If you're still typing between contractions, I wouldn't panic just yet!

Not too late for a home birth of course....you could call your midwife.

Good luck!

lilymolly · 09/02/2009 08:07

PinkTulips · 09/02/2009 08:09

Pinktulips- wishing you well for your little one's arrival. Whatever happens, I'm sure you'll do brilliantly.

OrmIrian · 09/02/2009 08:16

Good luck pinktulip.

RaspberryBlower · 09/02/2009 08:17

How far apart are they?

I was told not to go to hospital until they were 5 mins apart, which took ages - about 12 hours from the start. They seemed to be at 6 mins apart for hours and hours of that as well. Even then it still took another 10 hours after I got to the hospital.

I know some people pop them out, but it's more unusual.

PinkTulips · 09/02/2009 08:21

bout 4 mins when i'm sitting down, much closer together if i move about.

it's my 3rd, other 2 were 18 hours but didn't feel like this til closer to the end.

Can you call an ambulance?

2pt4kids · 09/02/2009 08:23

Call the hospital now and see what they say.
They will listen to your voice and advise you what the best thing to do is, whether thats calling an ambulance or holding on for your Mum to get there to take you to hospital.
Good Luck.

2pt4kids · 09/02/2009 08:24

Are you on your own with your other children there?
If so, I'd call an ambulance now tbh

PinkTulips · 09/02/2009 08:25

my mother needs to be here to mind the kids, can't go anywhere til she gets here.
ambulance takes between an hour and 3 hours to get to where we are so not much use!

How far away is your mother?
If more than an hour away, you may need to call an ambulance regardless

oopsagain · 09/02/2009 08:29

call the ambulance anyway, maybe kids can come too.
And if they get to you and can't take the kids, at least you have some help for a bit- they won't leave you there without any help whilst you wait for your mum...
keep breathing etc..

dp is here.

he's not best pleased with my mum, we rang her an hour and a half ago and she's only half an hour away..... this is her through and through though

RaspberryBlower · 09/02/2009 08:29

How far away is your mum? Would the local doctor not come out to you?

Whatever happens, you've done it before, so you know what you're doing and your body knows what it's doing, so will do it fantastically well. Best wishes to you!

VictorianSqualor · 09/02/2009 08:31

At least if you call an ambulance then they will hopefully be there to either deliver your baby or check it over and take you to hospital.
Call the delivery suite and explain the problem. they'll know exactly what to do.

duchesse · 09/02/2009 08:31

Can a neighbour come in to watch the children? and have you phoned the midwives?

VictorianSqualor · 09/02/2009 08:31

If your DP is there can he not drive you all to the hospital? Tell your mum to meet you there?

oopsagain · 09/02/2009 08:32

well, maybe dp has to stay with the kids and you go on your own....

somtimes plans just don't go... errr... to plan.

pooka · 09/02/2009 08:33

I think you all should get in the car with your dp. Ring your mother and tell her to divert to the hospital, so she can then take your car with the kids back home (if you need the car seats etc), or her car with the kids if she has car seats.

Neeerly3 · 09/02/2009 08:35

thinking of you PT, has mum made it yet?
