I can't believe this may be a full moon baby! I've had strong back feelings going on all afternoon, then in the evening they moved to the front and now its period ouchy and regular...

Good luck!
I would hold out if I was coping well with the pain, but nor would I recommend taking advice from me!

How long the been this ouchy?

LargeGlassofRed · 11/01/2009 02:42

fourlittlefeet hopefully soon you will know, 'you'll get to the stage where you think right I can't take this anymore'
I think with all mine I got to the right I need gas and air stage
I can understand about your worry re c section, Is this your second dc?

fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:44

yep, its my second, first is 20 months. Been ouchy since about midnight, but not really bad. enough to keep me awake if I lie down though. Sitting on ball and mumsnetting I find it perfectly tolerable

fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:45

LGR - how many do you have?

LargeGlassofRed · 11/01/2009 02:45

god bless birthing balls
How long was your first labour?

nula · 11/01/2009 02:46

I had three straightforwardish labours and you are describing the first proper contractions i had.

First baby - they stayed like that for a few hours - quite bearable really, went to hosp (with hindsight) too early and then after a few hours in hospital got bloomin sore - with still a few hours to go.

babies 2 and 3 - same start but the bloomin sore stage came sooner - maybe just after one or two hours? I stayed home till Bloomin sore stage and had to make sure dh did not go over any bumps in the road during contractions!

I hope you followed all that!

LargeGlassofRed · 11/01/2009 02:46

Have 3 and twins due june/july

fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:48

didn't have any labour last time; straight to section for pre-eclampsia. BP fine this time so not worried on that account. This is why I have no clue; just like a first labour for me and am trying not to fall for the too early thing as they probably won't let me go home again due to vbac. When the contractions started getting ouchy the baby went nuts and fidgetted for nearly an hour and a half, so pretty sure its doing fine!

OP posts:
treedelivery · 11/01/2009 02:48

Ring them and tell them that. it's perfectly fine on the internet on a ball. If they want you in you can ask them if you can take your time, have a shower etc....
Rushing and moving will deaden the hormones a bit so when you decide to move in to hospital go slow and steady.

Do you feel settled and calm or bit wobbly lip?

fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:49

wow LGT - congrats. wow again. almighty respect. And there's me, petrified at coping with two!

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 11/01/2009 02:49

fourlittlefeet, it was my sixth time in with false starts when I actually got to have a baby at the end. Don't worry about it, better to be safe I think, especially if they have a reason for wanting to monitor you - I wasn't "allowed" to VBAC so I had to go in each time so they could catch me if I started to labour.

fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:50

settled and calm. was wondering whether to try a bath to see if that stopped things? (as you know, not keen for them to stop, just trying to determine that this is for real!)

OP posts:
fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:51

from past experience (this would be fifth time I'd be calling in) they ask me to come in for monitoring as soon as I can. DP would not be impressed. this time I have to come home with a baby . I can understand his point of view, I hate mucking around in hospital in the middle of the night for no reason too.

OP posts:
LargeGlassofRed · 11/01/2009 02:52

ah good, well good sign if you can still mumsnet maybe keep bouncing till you can't type anymore although it amazing how many labour threads are on it the middle of the night, its so hard waiting to find out when the thread goes quite

fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:53

Tink, I read your thread! Congratulations . Thing is, I don't feel there will be a problem with the scar and I am desperate not to have the blighters stall my labour; am very sensitive to hospitals and am v worried that I'll stall and they'll 'get me'!!!!

fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:54

Promise I'll post when I head off. Am going to try lying down again and see if I can rest a bit....

OP posts:
LargeGlassofRed · 11/01/2009 02:55

Thanks fourlittlefeet, youll be amazed how easy number 2 is compaired to first time around,
Baths a good idea great for pain releif and won't slow anything down if your in labour may even speed it up as you relax more in the warm bath.

fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:56

will be back on if I reach bloomin sore stage as described above . thank you all for being here

OP posts:
fourlittlefeet · 11/01/2009 02:56

just seen that, if lying down no goer, bath it is.

OP posts:
LargeGlassofRed · 11/01/2009 02:56

good idea rest if you can, good luck

treedelivery · 11/01/2009 02:59

It's a tricky bickie and I can't advise you in a real way for obvious reasons. Very frustrating!

Maybe let them know your plans, and explain your motives. Establishing can take ages so I completely see where your at.

The real deal gets longer stronger and closer together. They tell me. It is a pita when its a falsie but what can you do? There is no knowing unless you are reviewed or 'clearly cracking on' as we say.

nula · 11/01/2009 03:00

good luck!
will check in tomorrow first thing!

differentID · 11/01/2009 03:01

All the best!
