vacay · 12/02/2024 04:28

On my own, been admitted, dh not allowed to stay on the ward but also too far to go home incase he needs to get back fast so he's sleeping in the car !!

Had my show this morning which has carried on Slowly all day, been having tightenings all day which became very painful around 4pm ish, got to hospital (I'm booked in for a section so they said to come straight in) and they basically stooped !!
Now it's 4.30am, I'm contracting every ten mins, sometimes I get these double contractions!! All on my own, one lady on the ward fast asleep and I'm trying not to make any noise. I'm just so worried the pains are going to stop again

Hi, I'm awake, how many weeks are you?

Heybearu · 12/02/2024 04:33

Try to get some sleep if you can. Itll help. You could listen to a nice podcast or audiobook with phone iunder your pillow. Think of the lovely many on their way to you:). Anything that helps you relax, breathinh exercises, muscle relaxation, a warm shower will all help.

Can DH book into a travelodge?

gentlemum · 12/02/2024 04:40

Starting relaxed will be the best way to keep your contractions going. Have you got headphones with you? Try and listen to something that will relax you, a meditation/mindfulness/music..

vacay · 12/02/2024 04:41

I would love my hot water bottle !! Alot of the pains
are in my back it's horrendous

I am 39+2 now. My section is booked for Tuesday !!

Yes sure I have some headphones somewhere.

The contractions are so strange, they've stoooed and started, hardly had any build up to some of them they've just seemed to have peaked out of nowhere, and now I'm getting ones that have no break in between them

Morning @vacay - I’ve been where you are now, sort of, without the booked in section. how do you feel about delivering naturally? What was the reason for section?

Advised due to becoming pregnant so soon after previous section. I really don't want to deliver naturally and have told the registrar earlier when they asked. I also hate that I'm having to wait it out. I was 3cm at 9pm, want to be checked again but they've put me on the monitor now

How long since anyone came to check you? And are you getting any pain relief/do you feel you need it? My guess is that they are waiting out for morning team to come in and do the section, you might find that you’re first on the list

I've had codeine which hasn't touched the pains. And the midwife's pop in when I buzz, but haven't been examined since 9.
Yeah I was told I'll be reassessed in the morning.
Just hate being alone, in the dark it's not nice wish my dh could be here.

Also my contractions aren't staying regular, they built up to every ten mins and now the last two have gone to 20 mins !!! wtf

Sending you a massive hug 🫂

eatdrinkandbemerry · 12/02/2024 05:00

Exciting x
Try to rest while you wait for the arrival x

Peekingovertheparapet · 12/02/2024 05:14

Sounds like you don’t want to go into active Labour so the tailing off is not a bad thing. I’ve had two prodromal labours, so several nights of contractions which tail off around daybreak. Hopefully things will go smoothly for you this morning, you’ll have a baby in your arms before you know it

vacay · 12/02/2024 07:24

So after no sleep, maybe an hour? Contractions are so painful but still all over the place, I'm talking every 9 mins, 6 mins, 24 mins, 17 mins !!!
Some of them are on top of each other, others small sharp ones! Awful.
Babies heart rate dipped a couple of times with the contractions but seemed to be okay afterwards.
Now I'm waiting for the consultant to show up at some point this morning and make a decision what to do with me !
Either put me out of my misery and do the section today or make me wait until tomorrow...
What are the chances anyone know ??

vacay · 12/02/2024 07:27

Baby is back to back aswell so alot of my pains are in my back which makes it feel like it's breaking, I can't be left like this for another 24 hours it seems cruel 😭

Ask them for your section and keep on at them pal, it's your choice x

They won't examine me either !!
Said they don't want to risk setting off active labour if I'm having a section? I'm in fucking agony now

buckingmad · 12/02/2024 07:35

both my babies were back to back, I found lying on my right side with a pillow between my legs the most comfy position and it also helps them move to the correct position. Get your DH to get a tens machine too.

Lwrenn · 12/02/2024 08:11

Vacay I DM'd you, just please make as much noise as you can lass, we're rooting for you here x

Lwrenn · 12/02/2024 08:12

Oh, one of mine was back to back and he was the sweetest wee baby! Let's hope yours is a good egg!

BunniesRUs · 12/02/2024 08:15

I'm sorry I don't have any advice but I hope the consultant is with you soon- they must have a shift change around now.

Dragonsandcats · 12/02/2024 08:18

Hope you’re doing ok OP. and have your lovely baby soon.

vacay · 12/02/2024 08:50

Midwife has just point blank refused to examine me, I am not happy and made it known I'm not, I'm in absolute agony and just being left like this because apparently they have no doctors...
apparently examining me won't change the plan. But I want to know for my piece of mind how dilated I am! Surely I have that right to know ?

OP posts:
Peekingovertheparapet · 12/02/2024 10:10

Oh no - I thought you would have been seen by now, or perhaps you are being delivered as we speak?! Hang in there.

Awaywiththeferries123 · 12/02/2024 10:15

Do you have access to whom you agreed the section with? Can you or your husband contact the consultant directly? Make sure you stress that you are down for a section and you are not giving birth vaginally.

I asked what would happen if I started going into labour before my c-section date and my consultant said they’d get me in then and there for the section. I was also back to back.

I know it's frustrating but if they did the examination and started you off in active labour then that wouldn't be good and you wouldn't want that when you have a planned c section for tomorrow. They're being rightly cautious x
