DC1 was induced at 41+5. 43 hours of labour, born at 42 weeks.

Pregnant with dc 2.

Please tell me your experiences.

(Especially if you had a looong first labour and a quick second!)

OP posts:
KateyCuckoo · 12/07/2023 19:31

41+ 3 14 hours
38+4 4 hours
39+4 6 hours

PerspiringElizabeth · 12/07/2023 19:32

Ah. I was going to say I was induced at 40+11 and took 6 hours to get going then 2cm-born in 40 mins (do not recommend). He was VERY ready to come out but my body was not ready it seems.

Everyone I know who has gone into labour naturally has had a lovely time of it. Everyone induced has had a terrible time 😬

I subsequently had 2 c sections 😄 which were no cake walk either.

LobsterCrab · 12/07/2023 19:33

DC1 - went into labour naturally at 41+1, 28 hours of labour
DC2 - went into labour naturally at 41+0, 3.5 hours of labour
DC3 - went into labour naturally at 39+4, 3.5 hours of labour

Good luck OP!

1st 38+2 spontaneous 72 hours (10 active)
2nd 39+4 spontaneous 3 hours total!!

Nursemumma92 · 12/07/2023 20:50

DD1 started with waters breaking at 40+3, contractions started an hour later and baby was born 36 hours later at 40+5.

DD2 was born at 41+2 after a 2.5 hour labour, nearly didn't get to hospital!

Whyohwhyohwhy123 · 12/07/2023 20:55

41 weeks had him at 42 weeks it was a long week
number 2. 38 weeks. About 24 hours of twinges then 12 hours.

WombatBombat · 12/07/2023 20:58

Induced at 40+12.

He was still too comfortable for another 24hrs, but was born 12 hours after my waters broke.

It actually could have been shorter but the midwives didn’t think I was having contractions & kept telling me that I wasn’t in labour. Then suddenly when I was telling them I needed to push, they panicked which made me panic & my body just totally stopped contracting for about 90 mins, so they had to hook me up to a syntocin drip.

NamiSwan · 12/07/2023 21:02

DC1 two days of slow, back to back labour, was awful. No sleep for two days, loads of interventions etc. Two hours of pushing before she came out and had to have an episiotomy. Really was just horrendous.

DC2 couldn't have been more different: first twinges at 10am, born at 6pm so roughly 8 hours from start to finish but really only tough at the very end, and only took three pushes to get her out! Didn't even have any gas and air. Had a water home birth and it was a really empowering experience!

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 12/07/2023 21:03

First 39+6 - 5 hours

Allhailkingcharlie · 12/07/2023 21:20

37+3 and first part was about three hours and then pushing for 23 minutes. Was fabulous. That was my second!

Mimmi22 · 12/07/2023 21:29

1st, boy - 2.5 days latent labouring at home plus 14 hours of active labour in the hospital resulting in a epidural and baby having to be turned by forceps in operating theatre. Horrid back pain and summer heat and a slog. Born 40+5.

2nd, girl - waters broke at 9.30pm at 40+2. Went into the hospital and came home again by 12.30 as nothing much happening but a few twinges. Ramped up quickly and left home again for hospital at 4am-ish. Transitioned in the car, arrived at the hospital and had a huge pushing contraction in the corridor (I screamed) Quickly bundled into a delivery room and baby arrived 8 mins later with no pain relief whatsoever. A shock, but much better birth experience overall!

Pacific101 · 12/07/2023 21:35

My first labour was about 30 hours.

My second was 6 hours and it was only the last hour that was intense. It was so much easier.

OfMark87 · 12/07/2023 21:56

1st - 40+1 4 hours from start to EMC (both our heart rates kept dipping)
2nd - 39+1 3 hours from start to EMC (he was booked in for ELCS the following day but couldn't wait 🙄)

Got to hospital and was 9cm dilated with both of them 😂

annlee3817 · 12/07/2023 22:16

DD1 - spontaneous labour at 40+5 - 5 hours from first contraction.
DD2 - Induced at 39+5 - 5 hours from waters being broken

PyjamasToMyLeft · 12/07/2023 22:33

DC1 40+2 labour 48 hrs established labour 28 hrs

DC2 40+1 established labour 11 mins

i take it that’s the kind of answer you were hoping for OP! Don’t hang around getting to hospital with the second is my advice.

sanityisamyth · 12/07/2023 22:35

DC2 40+2, 4 hours from first contraction, established labour estimated at less than an hour, born 1 minute after arrival at the hospital!

crackersforcheese · 12/07/2023 22:48
