DC1 was induced at 41+5. 43 hours of labour, born at 42 weeks.

Pregnant with dc 2.

Please tell me your experiences.

(Especially if you had a looong first labour and a quick second!)

prayforthecottransfer · 12/07/2023 22:56
  1. 33 hours until emcs after 2 hours of pushing.
  2. 7 hours until emcs. I chose to have the emcs. If I went for a vbac it'd have been under 4 hours.
prayforthecottransfer · 12/07/2023 22:57

Oh, forgot to add:

  1. 40+1
  2. 38+3

Around 36 hours latent labour at home, 2.5 hours active labour in hospital (including pushing!). First and only baby (so far) x

Hummusanddipdip · 12/07/2023 23:02

Suspected labour started 36+5, active labour started 37 delivery 4 minutes later.

Suspected start as was told probably braxton hicks for 2 days. It was only because I said I wanted to be checked that I was even in hospital for the birth. I was fully dilated and my mucus plug was in my underwear as they checked me in triage then wheeled me across to delivery.

So bit of both long self managed for approx 50/56 hours, or less than 2 hours from my first phone call to mat unit and dhs leisurely shower (was probably less than 5 minutes really) before he drove me there.

I'm currently expecting number 2, they've already told me to go in if I start having strong twinges at 36 weeks onwards (that and I'm under consultant due to ds birth size/weight)

swifterama · 12/07/2023 23:03

1st - 36 weeks- about 6 hours Labour
2nd - 34+6 - about 12 hours but not painful at all until the last couple of hours

PermanentTemporary · 12/07/2023 23:05

40+4 after a sweep. Hindwater leak at 4pm, contractions felt around 6pm, born 5 hours later.

Nat6999 · 12/07/2023 23:08

DC1 40+2 labour 48 hrs established labour 28 hrs

DC2 40+1 established labour 11 mins

i take it that’s the kind of answer you were hoping for OP! Don’t hang around getting to hospital with the second is my advice.

Yikes that's some difference!

37+3

80 hours.

Started 11pm 24th December. Born 7am 28th December. 🙈🙈🙈

Ouch. You must have been exhausted by the time the baby was born!

So many of you with quick 2nd labours after long first ones.

Gives me equal measure of hope and fear I think! 😅
On reflection more hope, which may be a bad thing if I end up with another long labour.

@BoobsOnTheMoon
Yes, not all day every day. Went to the hospital, they said I was only a couple of cm, so I could either stay in and wait, or go home and come back when things had progressed.
So glad I didn't stay in🤭

Hadalifeonce · 13/07/2023 07:50

Sorry, that was meant for @Ohitshappening

fugly1 · 13/07/2023 07:51

26hrs!! Was exhausting but the most amazing experience and beautiful outcome with lovely supportive midwives

sanityisamyth · 13/07/2023 18:31

@Ohitshappening I had no pain relief either except in the last hour they gave me one injection of diamorphine as I was exhausted.
