Home Birth Planned - Overdue

Hi all,

I'm currently 41 + 1 and hoping to have a home water birth.

According to my hospital they will only allow you to go Term + 12 which will take me to Tuesday.

I've had a sweep yesterday and apparently the "Presenting part (head) is still high" my notes say 3 above spine. Also in my notes on my 20wk scan (was 20+1) it was reading I was 19+6 and 19+2 depending on different measurements.

I'm absolutely petrified of having to go into hospital to be induced. What rights do I have to refuse the induction and still have a homebirth? Can I use the fact that at 20 weeks I was possibly only 19 and therefore now only actually 6 days over?

Thanks all

Yes, it would be a lot easier if all births were the same!

Would be a bit boring for good ol' Lulu and Marsy though

Do you know if you are having a boy or a girl?

lilyloo · 16/01/2008 11:01

Suppose it would
Don't know what i am having but have thought it was a boy !
No news yet Beetroot.

Beetroot · 16/01/2008 11:03

she has not been around for a while.
hope al lis well

NatalieJane · 16/01/2008 11:05

Sorry Beetroot, didn't see your message

Maybe she got fed up with the monitoring and asked them to start her off since she was there anyway?

Maybe, they found she was in early labour (what with the pains and the shows etc.) so she legged it home quick to fill the pool?

Beetroot · 16/01/2008 11:08

oh didn't realsie she had been on yestrerday!

lulumama · 16/01/2008 12:17

she might have gone in for monitoring and found to be in labour or agreed to induction, or gone home to labour...? i am sure we will get an update as and when

liliyloo- sorry you are feeling you can ask for a sweep on friday, if you have not had your baby by then, and delay induction and ask for expectant management, if you are not happy about being induced yet....

it is so frustrating, we all get fixated on the due date as being the end point, and set in stone, and only 5 % or so of babies arrive on their due date

lulumama · 16/01/2008 18:07

hello?? anyone there??

wwyd · 16/01/2008 18:15

hope you're doing well

lulumama · 17/01/2008 07:36

this has to be a birthy silence..

yogimum · 17/01/2008 07:49

I dreamt I was on a labour ward last night. must be because my sis is due anyday now.

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 07:51

Mmmm thanks Lulu

Got a feeling we're all going to need some good energy building food, stanima is the key

(NOT that I am interested in the least, I am not waiting for news, nor am I going to be checking every blooming 5 minutes today, I do hope the refresh button doesn't have a life expectancy...)

lulumama · 17/01/2008 09:13

ooh, i love those dreams yogimum!!

LOL at the refresh key, NJ

I am so broody, but broody for labour, not a baby ! I must be crackers

MarsLady · 17/01/2008 09:23

I think she's snuggled up to her baby right now. Still I might get a chance to finish my book whilst we wait!

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 09:41

Finish a book? I could have read 100 by the time she stops snuggling and remembers we are all here not patiently waiting.

lulalullabye · 17/01/2008 10:16

I have been lurking on this thread and I keep checking and I can't believe there is still no baby !!!

Pleeeease sooon.
Sending positive vibes

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 10:21

Well she was due for inducton last night, wasn't she?

I'd have thought if not before, things will have started getting moving by now?

Or she may have spontaniously gone into labour at home, and like I said, forgotten us.

lulalullabye · 17/01/2008 10:27

I so wish that she gets what she wants. I went 14 days over and had dd2 at home in pool, very nice. The hospital kept ringing me and begging me to be induced and refused. It did help that I had independant midwives and they were very supportive.

foxythesnowman · 17/01/2008 10:27

Just wafting my positive birthing vibes your way>>>>>>>

Reading this took me back to 6 months ago when I was 40+13 and waiting, at risk of losing my HB too.

All the aches pains and waiting made for the most wonderful, easiest birth possible. I am crossing my fingers and toes hoping it is the same for you LuckySalem.

Good luck, we are all rooting for you

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 12:18

Just popping my head in as I walk past, my refresh button is still alive, whoooo hoooooo

lulumama · 17/01/2008 12:19

everyone ok? maybe a little sing song at about 2ish??

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 12:21

Count me in. Could do with cheering up a bit, fed up of being fed up now LOL

JFly · 17/01/2008 13:00

Having just read all nine pages of this thread, I'm feeling a little let down that there is NO baby announcement.
Now I'm not going to be able to leave the computer!

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 13:21

I think she must have had the baby by now, there has been nothing on facebook since Monday, nothing here since Tuesday (I think!)

peanutbutterkid · 17/01/2008 13:34

I hope L'Salem is okay (crossed fingers) It worries me that she said she had a lot of bloody discharge, that doesn't sound normal or good.
