Just a curious nosey oneGrin

Did you all feel any pressure or anything just before your waters broke? Or was it literally just a big gush, a trickle?

What were you doing when your waters broke?

Be interesting to read! X

Mine broke as I was pushing in the birthing pool. It was a strange sensation as it happened in the water, but the relief was insane! I felt my bump physically deflate 😆

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 06/08/2021 20:26

I was in the birthing pool in quite advanced labour. I heard an audible "pop" and the pool was suddenly full of tiny pieces of the membrane. I was a bit distracted by the full on contractions and didn't really feel anything else.

Most people's don't go unti quite late in labour.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 06/08/2021 20:27

I needed to wee alot in the 20 minutes up to waters breaking. I was on the loo when they broke. Felt a little pop.

2nd time it went JUST at the moment the needle went in my back for the epidural.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 06/08/2021 20:30

I was fast asleep. Woke to a pop at midnight.. Ds was born ar 2.55 am.
Another dc they went at home while chatting to older dd's bf. His face when he realised was priceless!!
Then I rushed to Sainsbury's to do some shopping before I went to hospital!!
Grin

Just thought I’d wet myself…but it didn’t stop….went to hospital 30 mins later sitting on 3 towels. Car seat still wet. No one told me how much it can be and for how long…I guess some people’s just whooshes out..mine didn’t…like a loooongggg slow pee😳🤣

TheWayTheLightFalls · 06/08/2021 20:33

I was 9/10cm dilated at that point and in the car on the way to the hospital. DH drove over a speed bump, waters went.

Twizbe · 06/08/2021 20:36

Mine went while pushing too. It was just a big pop

seanceinterrupted · 06/08/2021 20:37

DC1 My midwife was scrummaging to prove me wrong that they hadn't broken check when they burst on her.

DC2 is gone to have a lie down because I was cranky and tired. I if nowhere they popped.

DC3 was induced by breaking the waters (40+15)

Gloucester15 · 06/08/2021 20:38

Out for a midday walk with DH, feeling a lot of pressure, then water just gushed out and we had to quickly walk home! Baby born 1pm the next day.

Pipperleen · 06/08/2021 20:43

Went for a wee and it wouldn’t stop!
Had previously been bouncing on a birthing ball after being induced so didn’t notice a pop.

Bigtoejoe · 06/08/2021 20:44

First time contraction late on in labour, felt a relief in the pressure down there and a gush of water. Baby born very soon after. Second time waters went in bed, felt like a warm trickle. Knew it definitely wasn't a wee, could feel it was from a different place! Baby born around 12 hrs later.

Garman · 06/08/2021 20:45

I was in bed asleep, felt nothing, just woke to a gush of water. Baby born 2 days later by non elective csection.

TheGriffle · 06/08/2021 20:46

Can’t remember feeling much apart from the pop with dd1, but with dd2 I felt them bulging as I was walking round Tescos, like a had a waterbomb shoved up there. They popped 20mins after I got back thankfully. Would have been mortified if they’d gone in the shop.

moonlight1705 · 06/08/2021 20:48

Sitting in the hospital Costa waiting for a delivery room to be ready. Needed to have a cough and then felt it pop as it gushed over the fabric chairs and floor.

Got into delivery suite and changed as I was soaked then 5 minutes later another pop and gush as the hindwaters went.

Sadly another 18 hours until DD arrived.

Candycats · 06/08/2021 20:49

Mine went while I was having a wee too! But they continued to leak out for the next few hours - walked down the corridor to my birthing room with soaking wet pyjama bottoms as the maternity pad just wasn't sufficient Grin

ShowOfHands · 06/08/2021 20:51

With dc1, I was eating chilli and rice and watching Kill Bill and my waters went out of the blue. Was a pop and an enormous gush. Underwear, trousers and sofa drenched and I still lost water in gushes for the next 31hrs.

With dc2, I was asleep and woke up to a pop and a medium sized gush. Got up and the gushes continued. 38hrs later as I was wheeled to theatre, I was still soaking through pads.

messybun101 · 06/08/2021 20:54

@TheGriffle weren't you tempted to continue your shop? Isn't there a supermarket secret that you get some sort of baby products for life if it happens in store? Or was that a fib I was told long ago?

Justme10 · 06/08/2021 20:55

I was asleep and woke up thinking I was peeing the bed until I realised I had no control of it, it just kept going Grin
And I was still trickling 2 days later when I went to get induced

Passionfruitpizza · 06/08/2021 20:56

Woke up and something just felt weird. A little pressure. Went into bathroom walking with legs pressed together. Stood over toilet about to sit down and waters broke spectacularly 😅

queenie273646 · 06/08/2021 21:00

I was walking to the kitchen all of sudden I felt wet thought have I wee'd myself or is this labour. Wasn't a big gush or anything and felt nothing before hand had to wear pads all day but I couldn't really feel anything even though a lot was coming out through the day.

toomanyplants · 06/08/2021 21:00

Fast asleep, woke up and heard a pop, was like a giant water balloon burst! No pains at all, DD born an hour later in the entrance just as I walked into the maternity hospital, was bizarre, had they have gone whilst I was out and about it would have caused a tsunami

NatalieH2220 · 06/08/2021 21:00

No warning at all. First time I'd just sat down on the sofa about to eat my dinner. Constant stream. That was the first sign I was in labour. Half an hour before we were walking round Tesco's so glad we got home when we did 😂

Second time I'd been having mild contractions that morning. Got up to go to the toilet and they broke. More of a trickle initially then got heavier.

Isit2021yetplease · 06/08/2021 21:04

Mine went in bed - woke up as they gushed out! Baby born 2.5 hours later 😱

DramaAlpaca · 06/08/2021 21:09

Each time, waters broke just as I was about to push the baby out.

With DC2 they broke just as the unfortunate midwife bent down to do an examination. Poor woman got a faceful Blush

OddsNSodsBitsNBobs · 06/08/2021 21:10

It isn't noticable in most cases! I assume mine broke in active labour but no noise or sensation either time.
