If your first baby was born early, was your second too?

Just that really. I went into labour with DD1 at 38 weeks and things started very quickly - contractions were 3mins apart within 90mins and I was dilated within a couple of hours. Things didn’t go smoothly from there however and I ended up having an EMCS.

I’m very keen to have an ELCS this time around and am scared of going into labour early again, and particularly of things progressing too fast for a section to be possible.

So if you had an early first birth, how did things go the second time around?

My first was 7 weeks early, (baby in distress) , emergency csection. Second time around I had an elective csection 2 weeks early, all good. Good luck!

First was 4 days early. Second was 1 day early.
Third was 2 weeks late!

1st was 4 days early, 2nd was 3 weeks early. Both times contractions started 3 mins apart and labours were both 15 hrs with VD at the end.

1st was three weeks early, 2nd was four days late. That was a long few weeks!

My first was 8 weeks early- second was four days late!

Dc1 came along at 36 weeks and dc2 was due on the same date 12 months later. She arrived at 38 weeks.

First was born at 39 weeks exactly, second at 39+3

Yup - but not much - 38 & 4, then 39

1st 38 weeks, 2nd 35w6d, 3rd 38 weeks.

1st I went into labour at 4am at 39+2. 2nd I went into labour at 7am at 39+2. (Or 6am as the clocks had gone forward.)

I like to be consistent!

First was born at 36 weeks. Second was 38 weeks and third was 39+5

First one was born at 37 weeks , second one was on the due date.

First at 35 weeks exactly and second at 35 weeks exactly too, both same weight.
Easier said than done, but try not to worry.

All three of mine were early.

DS1 5 weeks early (induced as waters broke but no contractions), DS2 2 weeks early (planned induction due to his size)

Dc1 10 days early
Dc2 18 days early
Dc3 10 days late (felt like the never ending pregnancy)

Nope, first was 8 days early and second 3 days late 🤦🏻‍♀️

I went into labour with dc1 at 38 plus 4 and with dc2 I made it to 39 weeks exactly. Dc2 should have been an elective but we never made it. They told me the odds of it happening were very low and everyone else I know who had an elective made their date. Good luck

My 1st was 5 days early
2nd 2 weeks late
3rd 1 week late

First was born at 33 weeks, very sudden EMCS. Second I had an ELCS at 39+4, was so worried that I wouldn't make the date but I did and it was such a lovely experience compared to the first!

Yes. First was 11 days early and second was 14 days early

36 weeks DC 1
38 weeks DC 2
37 weeks DC 3
37 weeks DC 4

1st- 36 weeks
2nd- 41 weeks
3rd- 39 weeks

Both at 39 weeks
