I had a c section 5 weeks ago up till now it stings when I see and has a funny smell.
I just noticed just now in the bath that my scars gone bright red. The reason why I got in the bath aswel was because I suddenly got pain and coldness in both of my calves and my feet. Shall I ring 111 or wait till Monday for the doctors

I would get that seen to ASAP, you may need a course of antibiotics.

Bobbiepin · 03/01/2021 07:57

Have you called in OP? If you have a car seat I would take baby with you in a taxi but definitely call for advice.

esselllx · 03/01/2021 08:57

thanks all for your replies 💖
@Bobbiepin I don't have enough money for a taxi I'm going to get the bus soon and ring triage on the way I'm going to get my sister to look after her don't want to take my daughter out in this cold weather plus it's two busses to get there she's also suffering from colic so wouldn't be a good idea to take her

Did you manage to get seen?

Suzi888 · 03/01/2021 14:36

You shouldn’t be bathing after five weeks, should you? If it smells funny/ you need advice ring 111.

Brenna24 · 03/01/2021 14:38

How are you doing?

RJnomore1 · 03/01/2021 14:40

Why should you not be bathing after 5 weeks? I was in the bath 48 hours after mine and that was in hospital?

Anyway op I hope you have been seen now and are ok?

wherewildthingsare · 03/01/2021 14:52

Hope you're okay op. Sounds really
Scary.

Suzi888 · 03/01/2021 21:22

@RJnomore1 the doctor told me not to as it increases the chances of infection. By bathing I don’t mean a shower, I mean immersing yourself in a tub for thirty mins. NHS guidance states three weeks, just looked it up.

user1471549213 · 03/01/2021 22:08

How are you doing OP?

esselllx · 04/01/2021 06:26

I rung 111 they said I'd get a call back and I never did and my symptoms got worse so I rung 999 because I was sick of waiting for them 6 hours had passed and no body called back. They sent me an ambulance to come and check me the paramedics were Two young girls who were convinced it's just a urine infection...... and said I don't need to go to hospital. I know I don't have a uti I've have utis before never have I had pain in my lower legs, chills, and nausea. She saw my scar and said yeah it is red but it's not burst open so your ok. I feel like going to the actual hospital instead to get seen by someone else Who actually knows more about the subject. I'm paranoid about getting sepsis or something cause something just doesn't feel right

OP posts:
OverTheRainbow88 · 04/01/2021 06:49

If it doesn’t feel right I would go to A&E or your GP to get checked out.

With sepsis your blood pressure can drop as
Can your O2 levels- did they check these?

Is there any redness tracking away from your scar? Like a red line moving away from the where you were cut?

Bikingbear · 04/01/2021 06:56

It does sound like an infection that needs antibiotics.
Try 111 again or try the GP when they open in an hour or so.

wherewildthingsare · 04/01/2021 07:04

Do go to the hospital and complain about the paramedics who have obviously given you the wrong advice. Idiots they are!

You know better than two trained paramedics who actually attended this women based off a few comments on a thread. 🙄
spotlovesbedtime · 04/01/2021 07:40

I had redness round my scar and it was sepsis, I needed antibiotics in hospital, I was caught early and never experienced other symptoms. Can you ask your midwife?

esselllx · 04/01/2021 09:30

@OverTheRainbow88 they did my blood pressure twice the first time was Normal then just before they left she did it again and said to the other girl it's dropped now a bit. And they didn't say nothing about it 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
esselllx · 04/01/2021 09:31

How do they check if you have an infection or sepsis all the paramedics did was check my blood sugar and blood pressure and that's it what if they just do the same thing at a and e

OP posts:
princessjasmineofagrabah · 04/01/2021 09:51

Blood tests will show sepsis. You said it smells funny, I think people think you mean your wound and I think you mean your urine. I've had aches pains and chills with a nasty uti. Can you post a photo of your scar?

princessjasmineofagrabah · 04/01/2021 10:05

Was the scar red before you got in the bath?

Alternatively the highly trained professionals may have been correct in their assessment of the OP.
ProfessorSillyStuff · 05/01/2021 22:37

How are you doing now @esselllx?

CanWeHaveSnow · 06/01/2021 00:01

They would check blood pressure, Oxygen, Temperature and do blood bloods, which would show an infection

ASK Can this be Sepsis

YukoandHiro · 06/01/2021 17:35

Are you ok OP? Did you go to hospital?
