If your baby was late, how late?

mamaAJ · 19/04/2020 19:16

40+3 today and feeling fed up Sad

How late were your babies? Were you induced? How was your labour?

OP posts:
DigitalGhost · 19/04/2020 19:18

10 days. Went into labour the night before my induction but ended up induced anyway as labour slowed down.

PotteringAlong · 19/04/2020 19:19

DS1 - 40+14
DS2 - 40+12
DS3 - 40 +13

Induced with 1 and 3, spontaneous labour with 2 on the morning I was meant to be induced.

1 was 23 hours from first pessary to birth, 2 was about 10 hours from first twinge to birth and then 3 was 14 hours from pessary to birth.

ItchySeveredFoot · 19/04/2020 19:19

First was 13 days late! Arrived in the evening the day before my induction was booked! Second was only 4 days late. I feel your pain op!

Chinks123 · 19/04/2020 19:21

5 days late and then precipitous labour, he was born within 15 minutes of me waking up with a bit of belly ache Blush Kept me waiting and then decided he’d be born immediately. I was booked in for a sweep that day if he hadn’t arrived.

MrsL2016 · 19/04/2020 19:21

41 weeks exactly. Went into labour the day before and had a sweep to help things along. Unfortunately ended up with an instrumental delivery but just one of those things.

TheSmallAssassin · 19/04/2020 19:22

My first was 12 days late (sorry!), midwife gave me a sweep, but it didn't make any difference. My second was 7 days late. I didn't want an induction, so just waited...

Both labours really fast (second one less than two hours!) and pretty straight forward.

Hope it's not too much longer for you!

AnneElliott · 19/04/2020 19:26

DS was 12 days late but they had my dates wrong and refused to change it Hmm

So I think he was 5 days late. Very quick on arrival though!

EThreepwood · 19/04/2020 19:27

Both 5 days late

TobyeBella · 19/04/2020 19:29

Purplequalitystreet · 19/04/2020 19:31

6 days, then bam contractions arrived first thing in the morning already 5 mins apart. He didn't actually arrive until the following day though!

Jenjenn · 19/04/2020 19:33

14 days. Induction on 40+12, emcs 48hr later. Worst time of my life. Never again. Sorry.

Igmum · 19/04/2020 19:34

15 days late and induced (sorry) it was such a hot summer too!

userabcname · 19/04/2020 19:34

My first was 40+4. My second was an ELCS so 39+3 - I tell you what, it was only a week different but felt so much shorter! Good luck OP, hope your little one arrives soon.

BubblesBuddy · 19/04/2020 19:35

12 days late and 12 hours labour. She started to arrive the day before inducement appointment. No 2 was 7 days early.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 19/04/2020 19:36

12 days for the first, had to have a sweep which set off labour. 38 hour labour. 8lb 8oz
10 days for the second, went into labour naturally. 5 hour labour. 10lb

Both born on the 26th of the month.

NickMarlow · 19/04/2020 19:37

Second baby (first was ELCS)

First contractions evening of 40+3. Born by EMCS morning of 40+6 - failure to progress, certainly felt like active labour but just wasnt dilating. The first 24 hours was fine, the next 24 I would definitely not like to repeat, then I had an epidural waiting for the section!

WeDontTalkAboutLove · 19/04/2020 19:37

Induced and went into labour 40+3, DD born 40+6. The 3 days before induction felt like a lifetime, as did the labour!

NameChange30 · 19/04/2020 19:38

I believe the average gestation for a first time mother is 40+5.

In France the due date you are given is actually 41 weeks, so baby isn't "late" until then.

My DS was born at 40+11 (41+4). I wanted to avoid induction if at all possible. I had a sweep at 41 weeks which was painful and did nothing. Acupuncture at 41+2 which was relaxing but no immediate effect. Sex at 41+3 which did the trick, labour started hours later and DS was born within about 12 hours of having sex!

The waiting is torture but personally I would avoid induction until medically necessary. My cut off would have been 42 weeks, I think.

TheGriffle · 19/04/2020 19:38

Dd1 was 11 days late, spontaneous labour, 7 1/2 hours from first pain to baby with TENS and gas and air. There’s hope yet!

Goostacean · 19/04/2020 19:39

41+5, labour started the day before my booked induction. Then 41+2, labour started 4 days before a booked induction. Hang in there, baby WILL arrive before 42 weeks! (Assuming that’s the latest your doctors will let you go...)

Theweasleytwins · 19/04/2020 19:39

13 days😭😭😭had three days of contractions no sleep and then an emergency csection
Had sold at the end too

NameChange30 · 19/04/2020 19:40

"Assuming that’s the latest your doctors will let you go"

The final decision is with the patient not the doctors.

ManualFlusherSnot · 19/04/2020 19:43

I was 11 days late with my DS before they decided to do an emergency c-section (only because his heart rate was lowering)

Itwontrainallthetime · 19/04/2020 19:52

ds was 3 days late ,went into labour on his due date but he didn't arrived till 3 days later he was due on the 3rd and came on the 6th. Contractions were painful from the very start and went in and was sent home and called the midwife out the next day and I was still no further along so had to stay at home in agony no sleep for 3 days. When the contractions ramped up I wasn't going to go in as I thought I'd just been sent home. I was with my mum and she could see something was happening so me and dh rushed up to the hospital around 7:30pm on the 5 th was 7 cm and the stubborn monkey still took till 2:12am to make an appearance. I was exhausted.

dd was 12 days late , was due to be induced but when I got to the hospital ,they put me on the monitors I was having contractions , that I couldn't feel. So they left me to progress on my own, this time round I would of preferred to be at home as I couldn't even feel them and when I could they werent as bad as my first labour, however I had to stay in. Even though my labour wasn't as long as my first ,it was more painful once it progressed and I wasn't even dilated to more than 5 cm ,I was begging for it to just end ,gas and air didn't touch the pain . So opted for pethidine and within minutes of having it ,I needed to push and the rest of the labour was a doddle my DD was born quite quickly once I had the urge to push. I was shocked as was the midwife as she had only examined me and I was still 5 cm I sat up and bam needed to push very odd experience, my established labour was from 6pm and I gave birth at 10:33 pm. So although shorter labour it was painful, despite not even feeling the first contractions.

All the best to you and yours , you will have your little one here before you know it.
