I'd love to see all the different signs and experiences.people have had. I'm 40 weeks and feel pretty normal and happy to still be pregnant really!

I started to have cramps, not painful but definitely felt like things starting to begin.

Raindancer411 · 30/10/2019 16:47

The night before I had really bad back ache and couldn't sleep, and was on and off the toilet pooing. (TMI sorry but it's part of the lead up to labour). I was absolutely fine the following morning until the evening when I felt a bit of a leak and then the aches started. 15hrs later my boy was born.

RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty · 30/10/2019 16:48

Both times I had no signs at all the day before!

CupCupGoose · 30/10/2019 17:06

Both times I had no signs the day before. I lost my mucus plug about a week or two before but apart from that, nothing, until I was actually in labour.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 30/10/2019 17:10

Day before DD1... Just frustration I was still pregnant.

Day I had DD2 (on due date) I attended the nursery cake sale, was amused by looks of horror on people's faces when they asked due date and I said that day, walked the mile home... And went into labour.

ImportantWater · 30/10/2019 17:12

No signs at all. DS1 I went into town, bought a video camera at John Lewis, came home, went for a walk around the park, had a roast beef dinner, though vaguely I had a bit of a tummy ache, had a bath, thought this tummy ache isn't going anywhere, oh its gone, oh its back again, oh I suppose I might be in labour. Ds1 born at 10am the next day.

DS2 I can't even remember what I did, probably went to the park with DS1, but had no signs at all - he was two weeks late though. Woke up at about 4am, uncomfortable, wandered around downstairs for a bit until it was obvious I was in labour, had a bath, went to hospital, DS2 born at midday.

pjani · 30/10/2019 17:13

No signs! Might have gone for a swim or just hung out with my sister. Woke up with tightenings the next day at 5am. Wasn’t too bad till later in the afternoon and baby born the next day 6pm!

ImportantWater · 30/10/2019 17:14

Actually come to think of it both times I had a runny nose and cold symptoms a few days before - I remember because I thought both times how awful it would be to have to have a baby while suffering from flu. But symptoms vanished before labour. Could be a coincidence.

BikeRunSki · 30/10/2019 17:14

1 - I was uncharacteristically grumpy abd had a craving for a tuna melt! Was really miffed when we discovered the cafe that we went to for a takeaway was closed! Waters broke at 11.30pm that night, baby cNe at 6.30 am the next day.

2- chasing around after a 3 year old. How I felt was irrelevant. Waters/contractions at 3pm, baby arrived by crash section at 11.45pm.

MIdgebabe · 30/10/2019 17:19

At doctors, with midwife, desperately trying to find baby heartbeat. All was fine in the end, but it was one of the most horrid days ever.

Raffles1981 · 30/10/2019 17:22

I was 40+6 before I went into labour and the day before I slept - a lot! I took the dog for a lovely long walk and then slept for a few hours before reading and sleeping again. I remember being very thirsty (I'd had a terrible thirst in the first trimester) and having a few twinges but nothing outstanding. That was on the Saturday and I had my show on the Sunday evening.

BeanBag7 · 30/10/2019 17:22

I had been on maternity leave for a week and was bored so I went back in to work for a few hours, chatted to my colleagues and wandered around.

Went to a friends house in the evening and watched Game of Thrones.

justgivemewine · 30/10/2019 17:35

Ds1 early planned cs so not relevant

Ds2- pottering about as normal with 5 weeks to go, completely oblivious. Next day in hospital after blood and mucus plug went being told I was dilating and could I feel the tightenings. No!

Ds3 - random cramps a few days beforehand. Spend the day before joking about how this one was actually going for the full 40 weeks just to be awkward when I wanted him to come a bit early to avoid planned cs in a weeks time. Next day, got out of bed, water broke, full blown labour within minutes, ds3 born at 2pm

PhannyMcNee · 30/10/2019 17:39

Dc1 - ELCS so no labour but we did move house the day before she was born.

Dc2 - Took dc1 to an Easter egg hunt then deep cleaned the kitchen cupboards - first and last time I’ve done that Confused

Dc3 - 2 school runs and a Chinese buffet for lunch as contractions started (and stopped on and off all day Angry)

Dc4 - spent the day at a kids birthday party then family BBQ grumbling that I potentially had another 4 weeks to go...

Fifthtimelucky · 30/10/2019 17:52

Ist) no signs at all. Went to bed and waters broke at 2am. Phoned hospital who said to go in. Baby born at 10am.

2nd) no signs at all. Possible mucus plug about 8am. Phoned midwife (planned home birth) who came to have a look, confirmed things would probably happen that day and said she'd come back when I needed her. Baby born at 1.30.

TwoBlueFish · 30/10/2019 17:55

DS1 I was at work the day before, sprang a leak and was induced at 35 weeks.

DS2 also at work the day before scheduled induction at 38 weeks due to him measuring large.

Quite happy with both, bit hot and tired with DS2 as he’s an August baby.

Aria2015 · 30/10/2019 18:03

No signs. I was at work all day the day before I went into labour. It took me by surprise!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 30/10/2019 18:11

Long time ago now, but I had been in slow labour for 2 weeks and DS showed no signs of budging , he was 3 days overdue. In a last ditch attempt to evict him, I went out dancing the night before, I even remember the 90s cheese that was on at the disco, along with Ricky Martin Grin

We then went to a lock in at the pub down the road, then came home at about 3am. It was actually quite good fun being out late and being sober for once! Went into active labour during Coronation Street the next night, waited til it finished then got my mum to take me to hospital!

feelingchange · 30/10/2019 18:12

With dd1 I was having very random tightenings and I went for a walk round a retail park. I remember being in m&s and they were getting more frequent and it was January so I had a big coat on and I kept stopping and waiting the pain out and I turned around and the security guard was following me through the store until I undid my coat and he could see I was pregnant and then he went away🙄 obviously just thought I was shoplifting 😂

Sexnotgender · 30/10/2019 18:16

I had bugger all signs!

Even at 5pm the day I had him I was happily eating domino’s! I was 41+6 at that point and resigned to an induction the next day. I had him just after midnight.

armitageshank · 30/10/2019 18:17

Walking up and down a hill after a curry and copious amounts of pineapple juice with my friend who was also due the next day, can't prove any of the above worked as she had her dd two days later, having been friends for 17 years was all good fun!

pinkcardi · 30/10/2019 18:22

DC1: day before I was shopping, on a bus (standing as a grumpy women bullied me out of my seat) and baking. Waters went in the night. No signs at all.

DC2: shopping, walking miles, on the bus again but wiser to seat harassment, picking up DC1 from nursery as my waters went. No obvious signs but I had had two sweeps

MrsBertBibby · 30/10/2019 18:29

I spent the day buying some last minute things in B&Q. A plastic dust sheet for the bed and a shoe rack. I love that shoe rack and I left it at my ex's. Still want it back. One day.

Drove home, made a huge casserole of veg in cheese sauce. Sat down to eat some at 9.30pm, waters broke. Thought I had wet my pants. Contractions started around 11.00pm baby born 4.30am.

In retrospect I felt different all day, kind of spaced out and odd but I was 10 days before EDD so didn't imagine anything could be afoot.

nanny3 · 30/10/2019 18:33

WORKING lol

SoyDora · 30/10/2019 18:33

Baby 1- Christmas shopping in Bristol. Had my first contraction in Nando’s.
Baby 2- just looking after my 19 month old! It was a completely normal day (toddler groups etc).
Baby 3- induced at 14 days overdue. Another normal day beforehand... it was the last day of the Christmas holidays so ironing school uniform for the older DC and boring stuff like that!
