And how quickly did you get into active labour, were the signs there long before?

Still waiting patiently for mine Grin

From first little contraction to delivery, 21 hours. Active labour was about 12 hours. Not quick, but not horrendous either.

LucileDuplessis · 25/10/2019 09:43

27 hours from waters breaking (which was my first sign of labour), 20 hours from 5cm dilated.

Good luck OP!

CmdrCressidaDuck · 25/10/2019 09:44

19 hours from "I think that's a contraction" to baby out. But you're going to get everything from "a week" to "five minutes" on this thread! "Normal" varies massively and people have everything from week-long latent labours to very fast precipitate ones with their first.

I probably had 8-9 hours active labour I think. I was already nearly 8cm when I made it to hospital and baby was out four hours after that.

ShutTheDoor666 · 25/10/2019 09:44

I was fully dilated in 90 mins then unfortunately pushed for two hours, baby declared stuck, another two hours to be transferred to hospital and forceps delivery so about 6 hours total

sirmione16 · 25/10/2019 09:45

4 hours from water's to baby arriving. To the minute. Scary! My midwife didn't believe me when i said how much pain I was in and went for a coffee!! 10 mins later she pops back and I'm 8cm ffs. Whirlwind!

MatildaCat · 25/10/2019 09:49

4 days of latent labour with on off but painful contractions not doing much. That was grim. Then I think 9 hours of first stage and 30 mins 2nd stage. Started on a Tuesday am and finished Saturday pm.

Char20499 · 25/10/2019 09:49

I was induced for my first labour due to preeclampsia and all it took was one pessary and 2 hours later I went into labour and it was just under 9 hours from start to finish

RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty · 25/10/2019 09:52

Waters broke then contractions started 7 hours later. Six hours after that I was still in early labour (3cm), but another three hours and I was at 10cm.

LolaLollypop · 25/10/2019 09:52

Went into hospital at 10pm, daughter was born at 5am, so 7hrs active labour. Was feeling contractions at home for about a day beforehand but was manageable. Pretty good for a first baby tbh. I stayed really active throughout - well, every time I sat down the pain felt worse so I just basically walked around for 7hrs til the baby came out!

RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty · 25/10/2019 09:52

Also absolutely no signs before my waters broke, I wasn't expecting it as it was at 35 weeks!

BeanBag7 · 25/10/2019 09:55

About 4.5 hours.
With hindsight I had a few clues the night before (mucus plug and diarrhoea) so there may have been mild contractions overnight that just didnt wake me. I woke at 9 with a stomach ache and DD arrived at 1.30pm

OldEvilOwl · 25/10/2019 09:57

About 8hrs from waters breaking, but no contractions, to giving birth. Second one almost exactly the same

sugarbum · 25/10/2019 10:07

3 hours from first 'period pain'. 3.5 hours from passing meconium (I rang the hospital and they said come straight in) Waters didn't break of their own accord (for either birth) DS1 was double footling breech. Which was...unexpected. He's a strapping fucking huge 12 year old now.

WhatALearningCurve · 25/10/2019 10:32

My waters broke at 00:30, contractions started about 5pm, by 11pm varied between 90seconds apart and back to back for the next 13 hours, ended with an emergency c-section at 1:30pm. However, even with how bad it was, by the time I was wheeled into recovery I was already saying i'd happily go through it all again - it is possible the drugs hadn't worn off, but in reality holding my baby was worth every moment of the labour

mnahmnah · 25/10/2019 10:36

Contracting for 12 hours. Active labour for 10. Same with my second labour too.

Daddystilllost · 25/10/2019 11:57

38 hours

preggers4959 · 25/10/2019 12:13

I woke up with back ache/period pains on the Saturday at about 7am. It was like that all day literally just felt like the first day of my period. Woke up 3am Sunday morning due to pain increasing to the point I couldn't sleep. Went to hospital 6am as for me this was when contractions became very strong and frequent. Had DD at 10.30am. So I suppose my 'active' labour was for just over 4 hours.

Daddystilllost · 25/10/2019 12:16

Actually from when contractions began it was actually 53 hours

JillGoodacre · 25/10/2019 12:20

5hrs from waters breaking and first contractions to delivery.

7Worfs · 25/10/2019 12:25

At 41 weeks my waters broke at 10am, no contractions. Got put on the drip at 5pm. Extremely long and painful contractions and zero progression, resulting in 6am EMCS.

moonlight1705 · 25/10/2019 12:27

66 hours from when first contraction hit. 48 hours of slow contractions i.e. one every ten minutes and then 18 hours of active labour. Ended up in a c-section as DD got stuck and didn't engage.

homley · 25/10/2019 12:51

46 hours from first contractions, not sure what time my waters were broken and pushing was under an hour

Gorbie · 25/10/2019 14:04

With my first, I had my first contraction about 12.20am then he was born at 3.35am so quick, the other births were much longer. My second baby was the longest

MrsMyreton · 25/10/2019 21:52

Woke up at 07:00 with a 'sore back', went to hospital at 11:00 (when they were three in ten) and had her before the clock hit 16:00. Smile

Good luck OP!

NatureGal · 25/10/2019 21:59

1 hour from contractions starting to delivery. Active Labour was minutes, two pushes and he arrived. My waters went 18 hours before with no signs of labour. All four of my Labour's have been quick. My third was 30 minutes.
