And how quickly did you get into active labour, were the signs there long before?

Still waiting patiently for mine Grin

I had 2 minutes between contractions from the first contraction (both times) first was 5 hours total, two hours pushing as he got stuck. The second was 2 hours and 13 minutes and could of been out sooner had I'd been able to push in the car but only just managed to get to hospital in time. 2 pushes first one waters went second baby arrived (probably so easy because I'd had to wait to push)

AuchAyeTheNo · 25/10/2019 22:07

This will out me by hey 🤷🏻‍♀️

24 minutes. I lost my mucus plug and felt strange early hours, started to nest and couldn’t sleep. 12 hours later they asked me to come in for a check and due to extreme weather they kept me overnight. At some point I felt like I really needed the loo but it turns out I was in full blown labour. No pain relief was available it was all too quick

Pinklittle · 25/10/2019 22:08

46 for me, first contraction 20 mins after water breaking, it was a bloody long time but once your in it your in it so to speak haha! Good luck OP x

CalamityJune · 25/10/2019 22:10

36 hours from first waters at 8am. Contractions started slowly over the next 4 hours. Went to hospital at 2am at 5cm dilated then made no progress whatsoever until following lunchtime. Baby arrived just before 5pm after 10minutes of pushing.

user1019273703 · 25/10/2019 22:11

2 and a half hours from my waters breaking. Think this was the start as I didn't find my contractions painful until the last few where I had 4 taking me from 6 cm to needing to push.

Oliversmumsarmy · 25/10/2019 22:12

Just over 54 hours.

Dd would still not come out.

Back to back and induced. Ended with an emergency caesarean

PixieDustt · 25/10/2019 22:12

Induced and in total took 4 days. Once everything really started to get going probably around 18 hours

ToodlesnOOdleSAR · 25/10/2019 22:13

Good luck OP. I just couldn't sleep... My waters broke, 2 hours later baby arrived...
I had contractions every 3 minutes straight away. Only had to push for 10 minutes. I felt incredibly lucky. Fingers crossed it goes like this for you Flowers

lioness88 · 25/10/2019 22:13

18 hours from first contraction until baby out. For me, time went so quickly. I don't even remember most of the day. From active labour, it was 10 hours until DD came out, but I had an epidural so slept for most of that time! They woke me up when it was time to push.

Snowflake9 · 25/10/2019 22:15

34 hours... Active labour was 20.

First sign was about 4 in the morning, I thought I had really bad wind ! The pain was like I had a big old trumpet trouser to get out. 20 mins later same thing.

Around 12 in the afternoon they were 2 mins apart lasting 1 min 10 secs so went in... And I was 2-3cm only! They kept me in though as I was more comfortable in hospital which was a 45 min drive. Oh my god. The thought of having to sit in the car in labour. Hurrendous. Make sure you have a towel for any leaking ! And take a stress ball with you.

I wasn't allowed any gas and air until I was past 4cm. Trust me that first bit of gas and air was amazing. Used that and the bath for the rest of my labour but ended up having an emergency cecasarean as I got to 9.5cm but my cervix wouldnt dilate any more.

Midwives were amazing.

Snowflake9 · 25/10/2019 22:17

He was back to back too.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 25/10/2019 22:17

5 hours active labour after an induction which took 10 hours to work.

Jinglejanglefish · 25/10/2019 22:18

50 hours from waking up Thursday morning with contractions then DD born at 10.41 on Saturday morning. I had an epidural at about 4am on that Saturday morning and then just waiting. It's all a bit weird in my memory, no sense of time passing once things got going when I was in hospital. The Thursday and Friday at home we're just boring with contractions thrown in!

WoollyFoolly · 25/10/2019 22:21

Induced On drip and took 2hrs 20 mins from contractions starting, my shortest labour (of 3). My longest was only 4 hours, mind.

Frizzy1986 · 25/10/2019 23:12

Probably about 14hrs after my first pain although I had no idea it was a contraction.
Active labour was 1hr 50mins. I went from 6cms to baby born in 49mins.
Second time it was 6.5hrs from first pain. Active labour was about 35mins (I almost had him in the car on the way to hospital which was 28mins away!)

FriedasCarLoad · 25/10/2019 23:18

A bit uncomfortable for a few days but definitely not in labour.

6am, woken up by waters breaking.
Contractions start a few minutes later.

Painful very quickly.
Baby born at 3:16pm later that day.

Tweetingmagpie · 25/10/2019 23:22

First was 2 and a half hours start to finish.

I was induced at 42 weeks and had the pessary and it worked straight away! Shocked the life out of me because in all the books they tell you it will take days with your first!

I’ve had 6 more since then and they’ve all been under 3 hours, I didn’t have any pain relief with my first because I didn’t think to ask for any and no one offered, but with the others I had gas and air as soon as I could and it was so much nicer.

crankyotter · 26/10/2019 00:22

Was in active labour with regular contractions for about 36 hours. However the contractions actually started the night before then completely went away by sunrise. I had a whole day of going about my normal life with the odd contraction here and there then it properly started that night. A tens machine and gas&air got me through it!

All the best OP it can be a bit of a marathon but also an amazing experience.

MrsCl19 · 26/10/2019 07:51

Woke up 8:30am contractions noticeable but not painful.... went to get checked at 2pm who said I was only 3cm and to go home get some rest got home laid in bed and my waters pooped went back to the hospital at 4:30pm and was 4cm went in the pool till 8:30 was only 5cm then 10pm was 10cm and she was born at 10:46pm

HarrietM87 · 26/10/2019 07:58

@Tweetingmagpie with your others did labour start spontaneously? I had the pessary with my first at 42 weeks and baby was born within 3 hours of first contraction. I’ve been wondering whether the speed was due to the induction or not and so whether it would likely be as fast (or faster) if I have another baby, so really interested to know!

December2019 · 26/10/2019 08:00

About 19 hours for me, he got stuck though and ended up being delivered by forceps... he's still a stubborn one!

Journobourno · 26/10/2019 08:11

Slow labour for days, but manageable (if annoying). Drizzle of waters around midday. Pain ramped up 4pm/5pm. Another gush of waters around 6pm. Strong contractions then. Went to the hospital around midnight and was in active labour when I arrived (and vomiting all the time). Was fully dilated by around 2pm. But three hours of pushing later and utterly exhausted, we needed some help for the baby to arrive and had ventouse.

Good luck!

Tweetingmagpie · 26/10/2019 09:32

@HarrietM87 they were all spontaneous after that, my next was 1hour 30 minutes and I only just made it to hospital on time.

I’m not an expert but I feel like with me my body just needed a push to get going the first time and once I’d done it it knew what to do the next time.

Symptomless · 26/10/2019 09:39

27 hours all in all. 23 hours from first contraction to the active part of labour and then 4 hours of the active part.

Pinkblueberry · 26/10/2019 09:40

5 and a half hours, from waking up because waters broke - I had no pain at all for an hour and then it all came on really fast! Not really what you expect when everyone tells you that your first labour will take ages.
