waiting for emergency section, 35 weeks with twins, handhold ?

Hi all, I'm 35 weeks today with my identical girls. Been in hospital now for 3 days due to severe reduced movements and a drastic dip in their growth. They made the decision today to do a "non emergency" emergency section today at 35 week. No idea what time, so I'm sat here with DP twiddling my thumbs.

Both babies are head down and I'm showing signs of preterm labour and I was looking forward to having a induction/natural birth and I'm incredibly nervous of having a section.

Any words of wisdom or just general well wishes that might stop me from feeling anxious would be greatly appreciated as to be honest I'm crapping myself right now !

@soontobemummyof3 good luck for when they finally take you and you get to meet your beautiful babies!
I've had 2 sections (1 emcs) and had no problems with milk coming in, I've never heard of anyone getting medication for that. I also had a super speedy recovery both times with very little pain.
Hopefully you won't have much longer to wait 😁

Good luck. Keep us updated. And enjoy the tea and toast.

Good luck OP! You got this. I've been through two sections. The first an emergency at 31 weeks. The second an elective at 37. If the babies go to the neonatal ward, don't panic. Ask lots of questions. No question is too silly to ask. The neonatal staff with DC1 were amazing and I owe them everything. They're just brilliant.

I remember that anxious feeling so well. But the c-sections, especially my second, were absolutely fine. I felt on cloud nine after DC2 (I had about an hour's notice of my emergency section with DC1 so was traumatised more than anything!). I was last to go in to theatre on the day so I spent all day thumb-twiddling with DP and getting evermore anxious. But once DC2 was here it was just an amazing feeling. Best of luck OP!

Good luck :)

I don’t think ‘VB vs CS recovery’ comes into it because everyone is different.. however, I know someone who was induced for twins and ended up birthing one twin vaginally and then needing an EMCS for the second twin for some reason? Apparently this isn’t unheard of. So she had two sets of ‘recoveries’ to go through. At least you know what you’re having with a planned section.

Good luck x

Hi everyone ! Was whisked off and babies were born at 7:23pm and 7:25pm, both had to go to NICU due to not being able to keep their oxygen levels up and seem so teeny tiny. I felt quite poorly last night but think it was a mix of emotions, tiredness and general weirdness from being under spinal, managed to have a shuffle around and get down to NICU in the night to see them, had a sleep, and just waiting to have some toast and tea so I can nip and see them again. So bizarre they even sound the exact same when they cry Grin Thankyou all so much for your well wishes ! X

How you doing lass?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 30/08/2019 08:11

Congrats!!!!

NICU is the best place for them; it’s a bit of a head f*ck for you and other half seeing all the bleepy machines dwarfing tiny babies but wrap your head around the initial shock (sounds like you’re doing ace) and you’ll be dandy. Xx

Well done. I am sure they are in good hands with you and the unit they are in. Hopefully they will let you express colostrum to be given to them.

I have twins so am always interested in twin births.

soontobemummyof3 · 01/09/2019 19:01

Thankyou all ! Twins are doing beautifully, still in NICU but doing very well, I have suspected infection unfortunately so I've spent today being prodded and poked and now on an IV with fluids and antibiotics whilst bloods are being sent off, not ideal but hopefully I'll be feeling better soon ! All the well wishes are greatly appreciated 💗

@Xenia yes, they've been given my colostrum and just about to start pumping for them, they've been brilliant letting me start to establish breastfeeding as well in my unit x
