Noisy people on induction ward!!!

I have to vent.

Currently 10 hours into induction, 2nd pessary in. OH gone home for sleep. Contractions getting stronger but manageable, only 1cm at last check but feeling ok.

Except for noisy f**kers opposite who are having a loud, giggly, sweary conversation even though it's nearly midnight Angry Lady in bay next to me is trying to sleep too. Why are some people so thoughtless and rude?!

Do you have headphones you could plug in? Find some sleepy music on the radio.

Oh goodness I had a c section last week was in thu-sun it was horrendous. Snoring eating loudly at 2am some kind of slurpy soup and smashing the spoon into the bowl, watching phones loudly, loud conversations, moving chairs around, noisy bin lid slamming etc etc I got zero sleep

Surely he should be sent home - visiting time is over?
I really don't see a need for partners to stay the night on ladies wards. Sorry for the rant but it's just so wrong.

If you don't feel able to ask them to be quiet yourself, it's ok to ring your bell or go to nursing station and ask the staff to tell them to be quiet.

Noise when you want to sleep is horrid. Best wishes.

I feel your pain! Had to go in for monitoring over night recently. Men snoring!!! The loud conversations, people on the phone, others seemed to think it was a jolly. Was so exhausted when I came out! Fingers crossed you get moved to labour room soon.

Oh that’s awful! I clicked on this thinking it would be people being noisy because of being in pain with the induction/contractions but these people are just inconsiderate!

Best of luck for a swift and uncomplicated birth, and enjoy your baby!

It's so frustrating as you go in to hospital and expect to be able to rest. After my last birth experience I'm worried about my c section in two weeks. I was so exhausted after seven nights in hospital I was pretty much hallucinating when I finally got home with the baby. Horrendous. So noisy, constantly woken by midwives to check blood pressure etc. Really hoping this time I feel better when I come home.

I hope the induction goes well and you and baby get home quickly where you can properly rest and enjoy those lovely first few days as a family.

It's unbelievable how inconsiderate people are on wards!

I only survived thanks to ear plugs and an eye mask.

Lowlight was the partner of the woman in opposite bed discovering some kind of rave music archive somewhere online and reliving his raving youth track by track with running commentary! And their friends coming in and having loud arguments on the phone, and FaceTiming their kids from the ward- that's the visitors doing that, not the patient!

No one said a word to them including us. It's a strange social etiquette that stops us.

Oh I feel your pain. I was on a ward for my 3 day induction and it nearly drove me insane.

The woman across from me paced the floor all night and would have had my sympathies if it wasn't for the uninterrupted slapping of her really fucking loud flip flops. I finally fell asleep about 8am and missed breakfast!

Then every visiting hour, she had 8 visitors crowded around her bed, which encroached on my space. I had to ask people to move to get in and out of my bay. It was no wonder my blood pressure was so raised!

My induction took 4 days, you have my sympathy!

I got moved during mine for a tiny reason.... the woman next to me kept vommiting on the floor so I asked to be moved, they did straight away. Why she couldn't use a bowl I don't know

You need to get some rest. I was induced with dd1,took forever, no sleep, ended up with forceps. It all impacted very badly on me and on my first few months with my baby. Get the nurses to tell everyone to stfu, ask to be moved, anything that means you get the rest you need before you go into a protracted labour

I'm still in tonight, first round of induction failed...waiting to move to another ward (yes it's nearly midnight) even though I'll be back on this ward first thing tomorrow morning (go figure). They've said I can pop home for a couple of hours tomorrow which is brilliant, it's been an awful few days and deciding whether to accept the induction has been a nightmare. Just want my baby born safe now. They've said if second round doesn't work it'll be a c-section, scary but will accept if that's what we need. But hopefully waters can be broken and things will go ok.

Just had my little bundle of excruciating pain and torture😂 They're keeping me in for the first time ever because someone messed up with a test antenatally and now they have to redo it. But they gave me a private room. Massive score!

Please by yourself some sleep headphones (amazon). They are on a headband and dont stick into your ears, you can just plug them into your phone (really long lead) and play white noise. They work SO well.

Aww, thanks Smile It's looking like a c-section as I keep having bad reactions to the pessaries. I'm kind of ok with this - it's been an awful week and I just want my daughter out safely now.
Meanwhile...I'm back on the induction ward. There's a lady opposite me having pretty close, obviously intense contractions, she is really struggling and crying, poor thing...this isn't stopping the people next to me having a loud conversation and dragging chairs around Angry

Don’t be worried about a c section. I had one with my little boy after two failed induction pessaries and a week in hospital. The week was awful the c section was glorious. Music playing skin to skin and a perfect bundle of baby at the end (actually about 10 mins in it felt like)
Recovery was sore but manageable. If it comes to it stand as straight as you can as soon as you can and keep on top of the painkillers at first. Good luck

A c-s sounds pretty appealing considering what I just went through again. Pluses and minuses to everything.
