my ds is 6 months old on saturday and i've been thinking back to his birth. it was an emergency c-section which was a bit scary but i have the loveliest memory of the night following. i had him lying on me almost all night, bf him every now and then, with the lights all dim. i know i nearly lost him but there was something magical about that night and it is one of my best memories ever.

wondered what were the best bits of childbirth for other mners ?

That second they burst/fall/flood out of you.

Episiotomy with DS1, so he sort of flooded out, tore with DS2 and felt him burst out, was vertical with DS3 and he nearly fell out . I love that bit - the realisation that it's all over and you have a healthy baby.

Tea and toast was nice too

This is going to sound really selfish, but doing it all on my own,( not dh's fault he wasn't contacted, long story and in the middle of complaining about my birth experience). Looking back now (ds is 7m)it was amazing to have done it on my own. After he was born and checked over, as he landed on floor that first initial cuddle and cry! on our own was incredible. Selfish, as dh felt a bit left out as didnt come til about 4hrs after!

The tea and toast with butter and jam you get given usually about the same time I gave my first breast feed. It's the best meal ever!

omg
i ll start crying
dd - seeing her wrapped up me all dozy after ener c/s, and dh with tears in his eyes holding her to me.
ds - seeing him being whisked over my head to the scales as everyone gasped at his size and i relieved that the great lump was out!

Having a two hour long soak in the pool without being interrupted by 2 year old!

Having baby snuggled into me when being wheeled back to ward after c-secton. I've never held onto anything so tightly in my life

I was in labour for 37 hours, so the gas and air at 27 hours in was the very best bit! I was too shattered to enjoy the first few hours with DD, that priviledge was given to my DH who had her fall asleep on his chest, much to his delight.

Finding out the sex. We were left to discover we had a boy for ourselves which was lovely. Just what you need after all those hours in labour!

Also, at 4am, ds and I were wide awake having a cuddle and stroking his gorgeous skin. I just could not believe this beautiful baby was my own.

Am now in tears just thinking about it.

I have 2 best bits

1st being when i was pushing DD out and my my waters were pushed out like a balloon first my sisters face said it all, Its really hard to push and laugh at the same time.
2nd was having my DD skin 2 skin after her membranes were pulled from her body.

the beginning...gas and air...what a giggle
and the end....OMG love love love

Mine was my DH getting really stroppy with me as I kept getting really bad giggles on the gas and air! Mind you this was before they broke my waters! Certainly wasn't laughing after!
