What does this mean? Did I have a really big fanny then?

Both my babies, more than 8 lb with larger thn averge heads(ds1 has to wear 6-8 yr old hats - he is 3), left me with no tear at all. I am only 5'2 so did not expect this. Am also not particularly earshaped.

I'm built like the Chnnel Tunnel, aren't I?

i must be too then! dd was 8lb 14oz, didn't tear AND she had her hand next to her face as she was born. i'm 5'2.

Quootiepie · 09/01/2007 17:07

im 5'2", DS was 6lb 6 oz AND I had an episiotomy!

hunkermunker · 09/01/2007 17:07

No, you're just stretchy.

Cloudhopper · 09/01/2007 17:09

LOL colditz. The channel tunnel eh?

I'm not boasting but I tore and dd was small with a tiny head, but even a tampax was a struggle before then.

I don't think a small fanjo is all it is cracked up to be though. Given the choice I would go for channel tunnel every time, and use your imagination for why.

shazronnie · 09/01/2007 17:10

I'm elasticated too!
5 ft and those big roundy heads just popped out

dd was 7lb4oz and i only had a graze on my labia as she clawed her way out

ds was 8lbs10oz and not a scratch even though he had his arm over his face

í like to think i'm stretchier than average as opposed to gapped

TheDullWitch · 09/01/2007 17:15

ds1: 9lb baby, only minor scratches. ds2: 10lb baby, afterwards didn t even sting when I peed. Yup, stretchy!

"Fanfare please for The Amazing Colditz and her Fantastic Elastic Fanjo".

"She doesnt fire ping-pong balls, oh no, she fires cannonballs"

"Roll up, Roll up"

Could be a money-spinner.

winestein · 09/01/2007 17:20

pmsl laughing at "earshaped"

I gave birth to a 9lb-er and I am convinced that were it not for the speed he shot out at and the fact his hand was firmly lodged on his cheek (hey, make of that fadge bucket what you will) I am convinced there would have been no damage (externally there was a miniscule 1/2cm tear - it's just the insides shot out with him )

winestein · 09/01/2007 17:20

Like your thinking VVV

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/01/2007 17:21

DD was 9lb 13oz. I had an episiotomy to facilitate a ventouse delivery.

I swear the consultant stitched me back up a bit too tight. No bad thing i guess....

Then had DS - 8lb 12oz - tiny graze, nothing else.

lulumama · 09/01/2007 17:21

there is more to tearing than how big your fanjo is, or isn;t.....

and how well your perineum stretches, how fast the baby is delivered, the presentation of the baby, the position you are in , can all make a difference

a nice slow delivery of a big baby can be done over an intact perineum....

it is stretch above size i think...

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/01/2007 17:24

I had a HUGE long tear with DD (all the way 'up' I was told), as well as the episiotomy. Labour was long and drawn out, pushing went on for 3 hours.

DS was a quicker labour, pushed for 45 mins.

I think the difference, for me, was having an epidural with DD and being unable to feel what I was doing. I didnt even know when I was having a contraction - I had to look at the CTG.

winestein · 09/01/2007 17:26

OOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo, that has got to smart

I had an epidural and the little blighter was out after about 10 minutes. He was 15 days overdue and nothing was going to get in his way!

colditz · 09/01/2007 17:40

Ah, yes I aam abnormally stretchy. I could still put my big toe on my nose at 8 months pregnant, despite being 5 stone overqweight in the first plce

Skin not so stretchy

Mind you, if I'm wearing a skirt on a windy day, I sound like a woodwind jzz band tuning up.

ROFL!

Surely it sounds more like someone playing the castanets as an accompaniment?

colditz · 09/01/2007 19:43

PMSL

Honestly though, I have wondered, ever since, whether all my previous boyfriends were secretly thinking "Bloody Hell, it's like throwing sausages down the Grand Canyon!"

I don't mind now, I've had two babies!

had this chat with friends today - as speculums allegedly come in different sizes...

how do they choose?

Take one look at you?

How many you have had?

I had to have an 'exam' today and i wanted to ask what size speculum!!!

FrayedKnot · 09/01/2007 19:54

PMSL!

NAO maybe they look at the way you get up on the couch - stretchy you get up via a handspring, tight you have to ask for a step ladder?
