Rememeber to breathe. Big Breathing really helped me

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 10/12/2006 11:38

Debsy, I'm here. You're lucky I sent dh off to work early.

Are your contractions less than 5 minutes? Are you able to talk or walk at all when you have them? Remember this pain is good pain, so don't get worried. They don't call it labor because it's easy. If you think you can't handle it anymore, definitely go to the hospital. They can either send you home, or check you in. Were you dilated at all with your last visit? You may just go and ask for an exam to see where you stand.

I hope you are ok. And I think today is the day.

Wholeheartedly agree with MKG, I have a feeling about today...

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 10/12/2006 11:42

lulu its agony i cant stop crying with it but the contractions arent regular they were for 9 hrs but have spaced out again now ive had 2 baths cococodomol and using tens machine. It literally roots me to the spot when i get the pain.Yes i have been screaming with it also think my waters are beginning to go as put on two pairs of pjs damp in both of them got a pad on now.Does the pain get more intense when that hsppens?

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 10/12/2006 11:43

The pain will intensify if you are losing your waters. It's the loss of padding, but it means you're on your way.

Have you tried lots of different positions. On your knees, bending over the bed, lying, sitting etc?

lulumama · 10/12/2006 11:44

yes , darling , it does...the water cushions the cervix from the babies head...when the water starts to go, the cushioning goes, the head comes down onto the cervix -which is great as this really gets dilation going.......and the pain does intensify.....get off the computer.....go to hospital....and sit on a towel !!!!!

you sound like are you need more help than we can give you on-line !!!!

you have stuck it out since early hours of the morning......how far away is the hospital?

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 10/12/2006 11:45

Debsy, the further dilated you are the more painful it gets. The intensity is different for everyone. I didn't get really intense pain until I was 10 cm.
Think of it on a scale of 1-10. 10 being the highest. If you are close to your 10 go to the hospital, because staying home will just frustrate and worry you. IF you think you can take more of this stay home for now. You sound like you are close to your 10.

there isnt one position i can get in i cant lie down i cantt stand up that makes it worse i cant sit down either im just on theend of my ball but when the pain comes it paralyses me.

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 10/12/2006 11:46

Yes, I think go to the hospital chick. They are the best people for you right now and the pain is just frightening you.

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 10/12/2006 11:47

Debsy I'm so excited for you and so jealous of you right now. I'm glad I woke up early, or I would have missed this.

good advice from mkg......

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 10/12/2006 11:48

but my contractions arent regular now

lulumama · 10/12/2006 11:48

is the pain in your back ....or moslty around the bump? if in your back,,try to stay upright...lying down will make it worse......

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 10/12/2006 11:49

both low down under my bump and in my back

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 10/12/2006 11:50

You say the bath doesn't help, do you have a shower you could try? Try concentrating the water on your lower back, lean against the wall and breathe deeply through the pain. Try not to hold your breath when it hurts.

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 10/12/2006 11:51

Lean on your DH like you're dancing. Let him support you while your standing up. Have you tried a shower? Sometimes just the hot water makes you feel more relaxed. Get in with your dh though. The most important thing you can for yourself is stay calm. Your body know what to do, even if you don't know it now. Just stay come, and trust yourself.

Great minds MKG and you're right, Debbsy your body knows what it is doing, you're having this much waited for baby...

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 10/12/2006 11:53

This is getting ridiculous MKG...

lulumama · 10/12/2006 11:53

absolutely.....or DH pressing deeply into the small of your back as you have a contraction......good advice...

if you can bear to stay at home....stay.......you know your limits and what you can get thgough....but if you feel you need to go ,..then go

if the pain is in your back,, do not lie down!

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 10/12/2006 11:54
