I thought about getting a doula, but someone being there trying to be supportive would just piss me off.

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 01/12/2006 22:11

Although I would hire a funny doula. Here you always see them on tv as being very hippyish saying "supportive things". I need someone to keep things light. I'm weird though. The nurse, midwife and I were cracking jokes towards the end of me pushing ds out.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 01/12/2006 22:11

It would?! My mother fussing round me while in labour with dd was really annoying. Well she was looking for my hairbrush while trying to pack my labour bag, as i was being transferred in to hospital by ambulance cos dd was stuck. I swore at her if i remember correctly...she still mentions it now, lol. I had been pushing for 2 hours with no baby to show for it...

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 01/12/2006 22:13

Yeah I kicked my mom and sister out, mainly because they wouldn't shut up. They tried to be nice sitting in the hospital with me, but I told them to go home. Honestly I liked having just dh there. He didn't say anything. He just held my hand.

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 01/12/2006 22:14

Yeah 'cause what you really need when your in labor is a hairbrush. I think I would have sworn at my mom too.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 01/12/2006 22:17

Am off to eat the rest of my pizza and watch a movie now. I get to lie in again tomorrow, yipeeeeeeee!
