NativityJane · 03/12/2006 23:18

Blinkin' 'eck, how's a girl supposed to be able to keep up to date when you all chat so bloody much?

And no, no baby or labours here, though I have seen Kaybee's news on the Nov thread thanks Debbsy - hopefully tomorrow's full moon will bring us all a visit from the stork?!!

I am feeling really down and sorry for myself tonight, I've had loads of contractions since our trip out earlier, which I know aren't doing anything, and which I know will keep me awake till silly o'clock in the morning, DH has been trying to cheer me up with comedy films and chocolate but it hasn't worked.

Someone asked how late I am now, by my dates I am 8 days over, by scan dates 4 days.

And yes I try to spend the evenings with DH (unless he is watching football) so I only come on when he goes up to bed. But if I do ever go into labour at home I will be on here until I can type no more, so don't worry, you will all know what is going on!

lulumama · 03/12/2006 23:21

Hello Nativity Jane, Benn reading your thread over the past few days whilst suffering with food poisoning. Its been a marathon for you but kept me from feeling too sorry for myself. Wondered if you might want to think about your dream some more though. Psychotherapists would say that the imagery in your dreams is not to be interpreted literally. The theory is that the people that we dream about are actualy representations of their personal charateristics - for example do the NHS glasses and white hair remind you of anyone? Might be an older person or someone at school to have NHS glasses. What characteristics do you associate with this person e.g. kind, friendly, popular.... Those are the characteristics you might be hoping for or fearing for your baby! Just a bit of fun

NativityJane · 03/12/2006 23:58

Oh no! Food poisoning? Don't envy you that! I hope you are starting to feel better.

I don't think I know anyone with bright blue glasses and white blond hair, certainly not now, maybe you are right though and it is someone at school or something that I sub-consiously remember? LOL Who knows? I do wear glasses myself and I know I did have a blue pair (they were the best - they had Snoopy on them!!! LOL) I will add I could have only been 4 or 5 at the time, and they were thin blue frames. But I have never had white blond hair, DH has very very very dark brown hair, so not sure where that came from really!!

I think the appearance of the baby wasn't the main thing in the dream, the fact that I had just given birth to an 18 month old shocked me more!! LOL

Yes must admit I have been thanking my lucky stars it isn't summer!

I have a sweep booked for Wednesday, I will be very interested to know what, if anything, has been going on down there. Having said that, they have already put it off 3 times so I might not even get one yet!

I think it will be a bit of a bitter-sweet appointment really, if she does the sweep and finds that I am dilating it will be good news, but I expect she will also be looking to get the induction booked in for the following week.

NativityJane · 04/12/2006 01:50

Right I am off for a bath, g'night xxx

jabberwocky · 04/12/2006 05:39

Hope it works for you, NJ

Morning

OK pick your brains time. A few weeks ago, I had swollen up like a balloon, my feet, ankles, and legs, one of my wrssts and hands my face and my tounge were all about as swollen as they could get. Midwife checked BP which had risen slightly the day before, but when she checked it had gone back down and my wee was fine, so no problem, since then the swelling had gone down everywhere except my feet and tounge, which were still swollen but only slightly. Now, yesterday I started blowing up again, same places, said to DH if it hadn't subsided by today I would ring the labour ward and speak to the midwife, but I have also noticed the last few days that no matter how much I am drinking (anything up to 3-4 litres a day) I am hardly weeing at all, I went for a wee three times yesterday and they were only little squirts - sorry!! So, obviously this swelling is likely to be down to having too much liquid in me, rather than anything like pre-eclampsia or anything, should I still ring them? Is the water retention something to be worried about in itself? To give you an idea of how swollen I am, DH had his hand resting on my leg last night, and when he moved it, I had a perfect hand print dimpled into my leg.

Any ideas?

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 04/12/2006 08:05

right
well, I would go and get it checked out TBH, better safe than sorry. All they need to do it check BP and wee. But it could just be water retention as you say. Are your face/hands puffy at all or is it just legs and arms?

anyhow, I would go and see them for your own peace of mind. They won't mind in the slightest, in fact they'll be glad you're being sensible.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 04/12/2006 08:06

oh you said same places as before - sorry!
get it checked.

christmas2NDTIMEmistletoeandwi · 04/12/2006 08:07

Morning NJ. at DH leaving a hand print on your leg!!

You need to get checked out today, for certain.

Ring your midwife and get them to come out to you.

Hope it's nothing serious.xx

jabberwocky · 04/12/2006 08:08

NJ, what you are descrbing are classic symptoms of preeclampsia. Do not mess around with this. Call and demand to be seen today.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 04/12/2006 08:12

they don't have to do much - just BP and wee - so just do it. now.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 04/12/2006 08:12

If you were on your feet alot yesterday then that will make you swell more, it is normal to be very swollen during prg especially ankles. If the swelling is sudden and all over i would phone the midwife and she will no doubt want to check your bp and test your wee (save some in a bottle this morning just in case you cant go later) Give her a call, she may sweep you too Dont worry at all, if it was summer you would have looked like this for weeks as the heat puffs you up too, and keep drinking.

NativityJane · 04/12/2006 08:16

OK I will ring when I've gotten DS off to school. I've no other signs that it is pre-eclampsia, no head ache or bad vision or anything, but as you all say I suppose it is better safe than sorry. And yes we did do a hell of a lot of walking yesterday so it is probably just down to that.

Thanks everyone

NativityJane · 04/12/2006 09:21

Just to let you know I have rang and they want me to go in just to check my BP etc.

Waiting for DH to come home because I have to go to the hospital in the next town!

Will let you all know as soon as I can what's gone on

CheeryGarciaFollowsTheStar · 04/12/2006 09:24

Good luck, NJ! And do come back and tell all us completely disinterested souls what's happening!
