Did you wax (or trim/use cream or whatever) your fanjo in preparation for giving birth??

And if so why??

Hand on heart, right now I really couldn't give a flying fu*k what my fanjo looks like. I'm sure the MW doesn't care either.

Why put yourself through the agony of waxing when PG (I've done it once to go on holiday when PG so I know it bloody hurt 10,000 times more)and why tie your self up in knots trying to trim or apply cream???

I just don't get it.

I went for a wax at 39 weeks - the beautician had never waxed a preggers lady before - she was very nervous and didn't do a great job...

Highly embarrassing in reception when she said she would only charge me for an eyebrow wax as she hadn't taken much off!

had wax booked for the works, ,as well as pedicure,,,, looking forward to blissful spoiling , but had to be induced early, date was arranged very soon so had to cancel appt, waters broke day before induction date, therefore attempted shaving in shower, befroe journey into hospital, was very distracted as dh was getting nigh on hysterical outside the bathroom, he had started the car 40 mins earlier and i was refusing to leave unless my fatima whitbread legs and minge were shaved.
Minge looked like a dogs dinner, still gave mw something to laugh about,

I used to wax all the time ( did it myself....no huge bank balance!)but when i could no longer do it for pain and veiwing reasons i decided to use cream.....all over...(don`t say it ...I know ),just over 6 weeks before my due date.I thought i could then get DP to touch up with scissors/clippers/razors in the following weeks once it started to sprout again.

Went into prem labour 2 days later with a semi naked, stubbly muff.

still reckon it was that stuff that set me off.

Will just be getting DP to do it this time

I opted for the shaved option - just neatly trimmed although I couldn't actually see what I was doing from about 5 months pg so DH did the honours (and my legs to and painted my toenails....!!!) - I remember the MW giving my bits a second look as though 'why has she bothered?'

Pheebe · 23/02/2007 08:29

No I didn't and really really wish I had. Had to have loads of stiches, ds came out with a hand on his head and ripped me to shreds! Took 5 months...yes 5 months to heal cause of hairs gettin in the way of healing. If you can, do would be my advice lol

Have Immac-ed the straggly bits round the edges and cut the rest really short, now just keeping it neat with a razor. Can't really see what I'm doing so had to go by feel and looking in the mirror.

Not doing it for vanity really but because I can't stand the thought of the lochia and other gunk getting matted in it, which seems really unhygienic to me.

After reading the C-section stories think I might Immac the top bit as well so I don't have to contend with stubble growing in my stitches and being really itchy and uncomfortable.

jhyesmum · 24/02/2007 17:22

No!! I couldn't see it! And I wouldn't let DH loose on it!

However, when I had DS, and I could manage to catch a glimpse of the old girl again, the only thing that would get through that bush was my husbands hair clippers!

I went from one extreme to the other.

DH wasn't amused his clippers were blocked either!

I planned for a natural birth at a midwife unit where they couldn't give a monkeys if I sprayed it pink and crimped it - ended up with an emergency section at a major hospital where the midwife quickly did it with a bic razor (ouchy/itchy for weeks) AND then the surgeon inspected it and did it AGAIN herself .

So if I ever do have the chance again, I'm going bald for the event!
