Did you wax (or trim/use cream or whatever) your fanjo in preparation for giving birth??

And if so why??

Hand on heart, right now I really couldn't give a flying fu*k what my fanjo looks like. I'm sure the MW doesn't care either.

Why put yourself through the agony of waxing when PG (I've done it once to go on holiday when PG so I know it bloody hurt 10,000 times more)and why tie your self up in knots trying to trim or apply cream???

I just don't get it.

Enid · 23/11/2006 15:18

yes I did

niceglasses · 23/11/2006 15:18

Noooooooooooo but I do cut my toenails. Dh does it in special ceremonial cutting. Usually I look like a dray horse.

Enid · 23/11/2006 15:18

did it help the thrush LTH?

maxwellsmum · 23/11/2006 15:26

I tried desperately to 'trim' but nearly cricked my neck trying to peer over my huge bump! And after my very best efforts i had an emergency CS and got the lot shaved off.... i swear the itching when it was growin back after DS was born was worse than the soreness of my scar!!!!

maltatheterrible · 23/11/2006 15:28

pmsl @ niceglasses....pecheron or clydesdale, and does he go the whole hog with ribbons?!!

nailpolish · 23/11/2006 15:32

lol

i remember nearly passing out trying to bend down to paint my own toenails while 40+ wks pg

dh made such a mess but at least it stopped me haivng to break my arm to do it myself

Enid · 23/11/2006 15:37

i did mine by feel with nail scissors

could have been nasty

diy epistiotomy anyone

LadyTophamHatt · 23/11/2006 15:55

Enid, I've had mild thrush about about 1000 times during this Pg so I'm not entirely sure it did help

sleepfinder · 23/11/2006 16:15

No I did not - but this may be because I coulnd't even SEE what was down there past the bump.

Why bother anyway? Who are you needing to be tidy for when you're squeezing out a baby and everything that goes with it?

They can wash you afterwards, its not like you're going to carry all that muck around in the excess hair....

pebblemum · 23/11/2006 16:23

I made sure i was nice and trimmed but as i couldnt see too well Dh did it for me, it was better than struggling but boy was i nervous. It was worth it though just to now my baby wasnt being born into a jungle

Enid · 23/11/2006 16:30

lth I had it loads when pg with dd3

none since her birth hurrah

msnomer · 23/11/2006 16:32

I did (well my aprtner did) the tops cos I was having an elective c-sections and a friend warned me that they may not be that careful doing it at the hospital

Gobbledigook · 23/11/2006 16:40

No, I didn't. Just didn't care by then.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 23/11/2006 16:41

I trimmed mine and because I couldn't see what I was trimming cut myself!

aliceband · 23/11/2006 16:50

the ? doctor put some hair removing cream on for me when i had a c section. smelly stuff.

aliceband · 23/11/2006 16:51

and i think i did it myself for my first.

Tortington · 23/11/2006 16:53

arse

nah i had more hair on my fandooky than the midwife had on her head. - thats somewhat of an assumtion as she was wearing a wig
it was crooked

chelle479 · 23/11/2006 17:00

laughed out loud when i read this thread title - as it's my favourite prebirth memory. i have never been a particularly vain person but in late pregnancy became obsessed about mw etc seeing my "natural" state. Anyway ds1 was a few days overdue and i still hadn't got round to doing anything about it. Was woken in the night by my waters breaking(no contractions or anything) and immediately rang hospital who said i needed to come down to be checked. It being my first i panicked a bit and said to the lady on the phone "but i haven't even trimmed my mary", to which she replied " well, if you want, i,m sure you have time for that". so my lasting memory of ds1's birth is standing in the shower frantically washing my hair for the glamorous "post birth photo's" with dh crouching down trimming my Mary".
reality was that by the time he was born 48 hours later with drip based induction i looked like a sack of sht and didn't give a tss.
Needless to say for ds2 i didn't bother with the hi-lights in week 39 and ensured my mary was trimmed regularly in the last few weeks

Gemmitygem · 23/11/2006 18:11

I SO didn't care,

and don't normally.

it's what God gave us; men don't shave/do anything to theirs (well only a v small minority), it's a gross offshoot of the porn industry and I think it's slightly sick because it implies that hairless (prepubescent) = sexy and desirable, hairy (grown-up women) isn't...

Probably if it was incredibly easy to wax etc and not painful, I'd do it anyway as a treat for DH, but it's bloody agonising, so no way!

And as if the midwives or doctors care! I mean as long as you didn't have a novelty Santa design or something

Ilovemyboy · 23/11/2006 18:23

I'm haven't waxed as my skin seems to be really sensitive since I have been pregnant.

I have been shaving my bikini line and DP has been trimming me down there.

I am always well-trimmed down there anyway. Growing stubble or a full bush would make me feel like I'd grown a new leg or something.

poppiesmum · 23/11/2006 18:48

Just kept up with my regular professional waxes that I've being having for years. It didn't hurt any more when pg than it does normally.

JoolsToo · 23/11/2006 23:16

In my day they shaved you (dry - ouch!)
