Feel like I am going to be the first woman in history to be pregnant FOREVER

Am 40+4 with ds2.

MW tried to do a sweep this afternoon but cervix was totally posterior, high, hard to reach and she couldn't tell if it was favourable or not - but presumes not as she couldn't reach it!

Ds1 was born at 41 weeks exactly (incidentally, 4 days after a sweep with the same midwife!) - I don't know why but I expected this time to go into labour earlier/easier and totally fed up.

Please can someone reassure me that the odds are in my favour of a spontaneous delivery, having had one before?? Really not keen on induction .

Mzzzf you sound calm about the induction. I'm a bit freaked out to be honest! But am certainly trying my best to extricate by boings alone Grin

Hello all, congrats to those of you who have popped!

Good luck with your inductions, muddy and mzzzf (presuming of course nothing happens before they're due to start)...I think if your waters have broken the induction process is often easier, isn't it?

I saw MW this morning for another sweep and my cervix is still high/posterior/unfavourable :-(

Feeling weepy and fed up now.

Have asked to be booked in for induction next week at 40+13 so hopefully something will happen naturally before then.

Going to try sex tonight...! Might as well get some naturally occurring prostaglandins up there, before resorting to ones artificially made in a lab, next week...

Welly, I'm far from calm. I've been an emotional fanny since yesterday afternoon, because as stupid as it is I feel bad that my cervix is so unfavourable. And that in itself makes me nervous for induction because I think that's means I'm more likely to get other interventions on top of that too - ARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!

I'm praying I respond to the first pessary rather than needing to go the full long haul of getting round to the drip the next day.

Hang on in there ladies, cake helps!

Mzzzf - I totally hear ya. I feel the same: I feel somehow guilty that my cervix isn't doing what it ought to be doing....!

I know this is totally irrational and bonkers, but that's just how I feel.

Guilty for not dilating.

Pregnancy is truly a time of madness.

It does drive you mad with all the symptom spotting and hope that each twinge might be labour.

I am so ready for baby to come now. The house is clean, all washing done and lots of batch cooking in the freezer. I've even shaved my legs!

Hope you are all doing ok, and Mzzf &muddy the inductions are going ok.
Bot, does hAving Induction booked make you feel less anxious?

Sometimes I think that counting the weeks and seeing 40 as the goal is so unhelpful.

Congrats shoogly... lovely name!

The drugs are supposedly doing their thing. Next epinternal is tomorrow morning, now to try to settle down with trashy telly on my iPad and not wince with every back spasm. Hope you're doing ok Welly!!

40+13 here with DS1 - glad you didn't end up in my situation! FWIW I'm glad I resisted induction till the end because it meant I was able to wait long enough to go into labour naturally. I would have been induced that night if I hadn't though so it was a close call!

waitingfornumber2 · 01/08/2015 17:57

Terra, I am going to hold out until the latest possible date too. Good to hear you went naturally in the end though.

Mzzzf, how are you getting on? Hope you have a baby by the time you see this!

40+3 here, and another one feeling like I'm going to be the first woman to be pregnant forever! Lol. I was also told that I wouldn't be allowed to go over, and then at 37 weeks they changed their mind, so it's dragged since then!
I can't even get an appointment with my MW to get a sweep :( So I may have to wait until my next consultant appointment where I'll be 41+3

Time seems to stop doesn't it Penguin? I have mw tomorrow at least but just wish something would happen now!

Hi penguin and waiting.
I. Still waiting too!
Tried curry and sex. Nothing.
Think a walk might be on the agenda later.
If that doesn't work I'm going to climb a hill tomorrow! Or a mountain if I can find one.

I've been walking the dog everyday and nothing! Even went to a pebbly beach thinking that might do something, but noooooope!

Oh deAr. How frustrating.
Wonder how bot and Mzzf are getting on.

It's bad you can't get mw appt a bit sooner... I feel happier knowing I'll get some news from my cervix on Thursday.

I've been so fixated on getting to due date, it's so unhelpful. At least now I'm late, I know I don't know when it's going to happen.

Grin at news from your cervix Guy!

Hopefully they are cuddling gorgeous little newborns and too busy to come and update us!

Went for a walk this morning and going to do curry for dinner. I am soo ready for this baby to come now!

I am now 40+10 and nothing doing here!

Arrrrrrrrgh. So frustrated and fed up.

Being induced on Thursday now at 40+13. Trying to just accept that I am having my baby on Thursday after calmly dropping ds1 off at nursery, and have essentially given up all hope of my happening befor then. Kinda weird when ds1 came naturally of his own accord at 40+7 dontchya think??

Am starting to worry that it's because this baby's head is literally so enormous it cannot engage in my pelvis (baby is predicted to be large - but then ds1 was 9lb4 so this is hardly a surprise).

Have been googling alarming stories about women's ghastly failed inductions when their babies heads are off the graph :-(

Must stay off google. Must stay off google.

"News from my cervix" Grin love it! I've managed to now get a cancellation appt for Thursday with the MW. So considering accepting a sweep then.

I've had exactly the same concerns Bot! My baby was engaged until 38 weeks when all of a sudden she wasn't anymore. I'm now scared she can't engage cos she's too big, as according to my growth scans and charts by now she is close to 10lbs!!! Shock

Good luck for Thursday!! At least you now know the end is in sight.

Bot, yes it is strange. We th I k our bodies will do similar to last time, but it seems they don't!. I had a due date baby last time, Nd was 100 % sure of my dates so was expecting similar this time. I'm not massively overdue yet, but still totally not what I expected.

I've been worrying about baby's size too. Not going anywhere near Google but might go and check my growth chart to freak myself out about how big it might be by now

Penguin, glad you got a cancellation, that's great. So we all get a step further on Thursday.... how about you, waiting?

I recommend having a sweep, if possible, penguin, it worked with my first and I avoided Induction.

waitingfornumber2 · 03/08/2015 22:34

Hi. I have a sweep tomorrow and will also ask mw what happens regarding induction as I'd love to still give birth on the MLU even if I need the pessary or ARM.

With my first I was induced early as waters went at 38 weeks but I didn't go into labour. Was a long process as my body wasn't really ready to give birth. So this feels like my first even though it's my second.

We need someone to go into labour soon though to give us hope that it happens!!

Report
Guyropes · 04/08/2015 09:54

Yes, and we need to hear from Mzzf and welly that induction wasn't so bad, but I suspect they might be enjoying baby cuddles so much they're off line!
Hope the sweep goes well today waiting.

Hi guys. Our little boy arrived in the early hours of Friday morning and is perfect. The arrival a bit less so. After my waters breaking my labour didn't really kick off so I had the pessary. Contractions ramped up quickly but with little progress, and after a few hours the baby was getting distressed. Suddenly his heartbeat dropped and stayed low, so I ended up with a crash section. But nothing found as a reason for the distress and he is doing brilliantly. So maybe not a brilliant induction story, but the happy ending is all that matters.

Congratulations! Sorry it wasn't quite the smooth induction you would have liked but at least you have your precious son at last!
