Am I in labour???

I know it has been done 1000 times before, but if nothing else I just want something to do with myself while my body decides what it is going to do.

I felt fine all day, got to about about 5 o'clock-ish, and very suddenly started to feel sick, didn't want to eat dinner but DH made me eat some toast which perked me up a bit, have been having fairly mild but intense contractions (can you have mild and intense at the same time?!!) with a tiny bit of back pain, coming every 8-10 minutes or so. The contractions aren't painful, but just really tight, and the baby has dropped really low.

Anyone who has followed the last 5 weeks with me, this is completely different to every contraction I have had before!

I actually feel really silly posting this, in case it turns out to be nothing, but I am bored and can't concentrate on the telly, so thought it would at least take some time up.

at Nj still posting at 4am...stern words from lg&t too....

Mkg has an excuse she is an American chick....one who is very much looking forward to Thanksgiving on thursday, so she can scoff lots of yummy food. Its all for her growing baby you understand...

Notice im not even asking about NJ....sooo not interested.....even though she had some more show....its probably just a big blob of jelly up there, no baby at all

Am out all day, going for a scan so cant check till much later, not bothered at all though....

MarsLady · 22/11/2006 08:44

Now I'm not evening vaguely interest in NJ and the labour etc.

NJ the reason you are having the contractions that you are is because your uterus is stretching and thinning at the base to make the space for the baby to come out. These things can't be rushed you know (I know, I know..... we all want to rush that bit). And whilst all of this is going on baby is getting into optimum position.

So remember... everything is doing as it should do so that you can birth this baby.

Now I shall continue not being interested at all. And there's certainly no excitement in the Mars household re this birth... oh no!

MarsLady · 22/11/2006 08:45

not even! even!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 11:10

Poor DS is still laid up, he had a really bad night last night, he is bored of being ill now, and keeps saying things like 'Why is it me that is poorly mummy?' which just breaks my heart.

I am still getting contractions, but they are irregular, sometimes I could get 6-7 in an hour, sometimes 2, and I am also starting to wonder if it is a piece of jelly in there rather than a baby, maybe a jelly baby? Boom boom!! (Sorry I know that was cheap, couldn't resist!!) I can't believe there can possibly be any more of my show left to come out, and then more does, and I am wrong again!

And yes 4am posts are not my idea of fun either!

Good luck with the scan LG&T

Thanks

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 11:21

Nope he is still staying put, I was just saying on the Nov. thread though, I am dreading the baby turning up while DS is this bad, the running around after DS, and the baby and getting over the birth would be bad enough, but I really wouldn't want to risk a newborn getting this what DS has. I wouldn't even let my nextdoor neighbour in the house yesterday incase she took it back to her grandkids!!

Is everything OK with you?

ps still not interested or remotely bothered...xx

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 16:12

Well for everyone who isn't interested at all, there is no more news!! Lost more of my show, maybe the jelly baby is actually a reality , if a show comes away in one piece, just how big is it? (TMI) I have been losing it in tiny bits for weeks and weeks, but the last couple of days have had a couple of large lumps (sorry) and more stringier versions of it evey time I go to the loo... Seriously, I'd have been scared to death if the same amount I have lost over the past few weeks came out in one go!!

Contractions have changed course again, now not really hurting, just really tight and maybe every 15-20 minutes.

But of course I have just wasted the last 5 minutes telling all of you that aren't bothered even in the slightest!!

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 16:13

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 16:32

LMAO

Yeah but, no but, yeah but, no but.....

I got the discharge as well LOL I am calling whatever is green the show, and it is a very real green colour, if I had discharge that luminous I would be serious worried!!! The discharge tends to either be clear or white, there is a difference in texture as well, do you want details???! LOL

oh NJ, poor you!
Get some sleep if you can, I know how hard it is![sad}
Hopefully not long for you now!
By the way, I am now breastfeeding for every hooour or two, sometimes for half an hour at a time, and just did continuous two hours this afternoon, my ass is so numb.
Get some sleep!
You will need it!

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 16:44

Awww, I was thinking of you this morning, meant to see how you were getting on, and then here you are!! LOL

God, I remember that feeding routine with DS, it is one of my major concerns with this baby actually, because after 6 weeks of that routine with DS and a HV that wanted him on formula I gave in to one bottle and he never went back to the breast again I have already got my name down with a breast feeding group thing though for this one, and of course MN is here, so hoping I can pull it off this time.

(hug) xxxx

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 22:38

G'night xxx

Same as earlier here, I am waiting for the contractions to go and then will try and make it to bed before DS wakes up which he is bound to really. I don't think I can handle another sleepless night after the last few days! And on top of everything else, I have a sore throat and a blocked up nose, so it looks like I am coming down with this thing that DS has, I was really hoping I would get away with it, I don't know what will be worse, labouring after sleepless nights and with the 'flu, or my body not letting the labour happen until I am over it...! Fingers crossed it is just a cold rather than than the 'flu.

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 23:21

Too late, DS has already woken up, so that is me awake all night again, how am I ever going to get to the end of this week? I have had an hours worth of very uncomfortable and restless dozes in and out of sleep on the sofa this morning - since Monday, the up and down of looking after DS sets the contractions off everytime I move, with losing all of this show over the last couple of days, labour can't be that far away (can it?) and on top of that I have this cold, or worse, coming. I wish I could go to sleep for the next week and wake up when it is all over with!

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 23:23

And on top of all of that, I am such a bloody moaner, sorry girls

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 23/11/2006 07:56

Morning NJ, i checked on you yesterday (even though i was not at all interested you understand) but was too tired to post.

Im sorry you are getting no sleep, hopefuly when you have had the baby it will be an angel (call him Gabriel) and sleep right through...Im not too sure on that theory though as i called dd Seraphim and she is not very angelic more devilish really....

Scan went well, they have moved my dates which i hoped they would. I was concerned (due to very long cycle) that my due date was too early, they dated the baby at 15+3 instead of 16+6 so i get an extra 10 days. Sounds daft wishing more prg time on myself (especially after your thread NJ) but really dont want to be induced, as i would have to go to hospital.... Id have to pack a bag, get nice jammies,oh no not for me. Cakes and my own bed are for me

Anyway NJ i hope you managed some sleep, and ds is a little better. Rest lots as that will keep the bugs at bay, and eat lots of veges and fruit (and chocolate)

Think of MKG with her very full belly by by now....

Galmum · 23/11/2006 08:02

Hope things are moving on - it's very possible that the fact you're feeling unwell is a sign that labour may come soon!! When pregnant with DS I was gutted that I started to feel like I was getting a cold or something - anyway retired to bed later that day (having been to Ikea with dh!) and waters broke everywhere - he was born 12 hours later! Hope this gives you some hope!

lulumama · 23/11/2006 08:50

off out for baby group...see you later.....! xx

don;t worry about the moaning..i think you have been remarkably restrained all things considered!!

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 10:57

Oh god, today is going to be hard, just reading your lovely posts has brought tears to my eyes - and I am not normally the crying type!

LG&T, so glad your scan went as well as you hoped it would So when is your new due date?

I have been up all night as expected, DS is dozing on and off but he is still really poorly, his temp soared last night after he slept through the time when the calpol was due again, he is getting to the point now where he is (quite understandably) feeling very sorry for himself, he hasn't eaten anything since Sunday so he is fed up of me pouring pints of sweetened fruit juice down him! I don't feel any worse cold wise since yesterday so hopefully it is just a cold, I am just walking around in a slightly zombie-ish state.

I had to practically threaten my DH with divorce to get him to go to work this morning, I wouldn't rest properly knowing DS was still ill down here, and having DH to cope with as well as DS would just annoy me, so I finally got him out of the door, dealt with all of the phone calls and texts checking on DS and checking if I had had the baby yet, put some washing on, and cleared up the mess that always accumulates when someone is ill, and I think that is about me done for the day.

Hey looking on the bright side, you will all only have to put up with me moaning on (...and on and on....) for a maximum of 3 weeks now, which sounds great compared to the 9 weeks I facing when the contractions started all those weeks ago!

Can you believe it has been nearly a week already since I started this thread?
