Am I in labour???

I know it has been done 1000 times before, but if nothing else I just want something to do with myself while my body decides what it is going to do.

I felt fine all day, got to about about 5 o'clock-ish, and very suddenly started to feel sick, didn't want to eat dinner but DH made me eat some toast which perked me up a bit, have been having fairly mild but intense contractions (can you have mild and intense at the same time?!!) with a tiny bit of back pain, coming every 8-10 minutes or so. The contractions aren't painful, but just really tight, and the baby has dropped really low.

Anyone who has followed the last 5 weeks with me, this is completely different to every contraction I have had before!

I actually feel really silly posting this, in case it turns out to be nothing, but I am bored and can't concentrate on the telly, so thought it would at least take some time up.

good luck nataliejane, sounds like your in labour to me,how exciting! and youve got lulumama as a birth partner

megandsoph · 17/11/2006 23:12

oooh and this about sickness

Contractions in early labor are usually mild, might be uncomfortable and are similar to menstrual cramps. You might notice backache, nausea and mild diarrhea. Your cervix is 1-4 centimeters dilated

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 23:12

So the shaking is good, the contractions are obviously good, I have had loads of heart burn all day, and have got a bad headache starting as well, what do we think of that?

LOL I can't decide if I want it all to carry on or not now, it seems very scary all of a sudden.

LadyOfThePoinsettias · 17/11/2006 23:13

hospital told me to get up there when they were lasting a min and half and were 2 mins apart. how exciting, i would at least get the pool inflated.
im getting all slushy now, i want a go!!
had both mine in the pool, but at the hosp. of course, didnt want to have to pack it all away afterwards! am so lazy!! lol

oh yeah, keep forgetting, ds1 was moving like mad the whole time till he came out, ds2 didnt move at all from about 2 hours before first contraction.

lulumama · 17/11/2006 23:13

7up · 17/11/2006 23:17

is dh with you now or thinking its a false alarm and gone to sleep

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 23:18

The pool is blown up, poor DH, I have only just managed to get him to agree to go to bed (he has been up working since 4am this morning) I don't want to get him up if I don't have to.

How long does it take to fill the pool, anyone know? It said it is about the size of 2 and a half bath fulls but I expect that is probably a bit of a porky.

I didn't have a choice re the pain relief. I went into hosp when the contractions got to the stage that they did with dd when I was 5 cm and they said i wasn't dilated! I thought my pain threshold had gone really crap and went home got in the bath and th pain was unbearable went on the loo , had the biggest show ever went back to hospital and ds was born 40 mins later Igave birth in my jumper at the end of the bed!

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 23:25

LOL Lulu, even if this is it, I don't think it is going to be anytime soon, go to sleep, I will probably still be sat here in the morning, and will need you more then, which ever way it goes! LOL

7up · 17/11/2006 23:26
