I know it has been done 1000 times before, but if nothing else I just want something to do with myself while my body decides what it is going to do.

I felt fine all day, got to about about 5 o'clock-ish, and very suddenly started to feel sick, didn't want to eat dinner but DH made me eat some toast which perked me up a bit, have been having fairly mild but intense contractions (can you have mild and intense at the same time?!!) with a tiny bit of back pain, coming every 8-10 minutes or so. The contractions aren't painful, but just really tight, and the baby has dropped really low.

Anyone who has followed the last 5 weeks with me, this is completely different to every contraction I have had before!

I actually feel really silly posting this, in case it turns out to be nothing, but I am bored and can't concentrate on the telly, so thought it would at least take some time up.

lulumama · 27/11/2006 23:07

maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars! take your pick from the buffet....! we have some sort of duck confit !!

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 00:41

Oh no Lulu, sorry But whatever this is I have, it isn't a cold! I honestly can't remember if I have ever been so ill before with out a 'real' reason, and for so long, this is the forth day since it turned really nasty and it is still getting worse. I would love to be brave and say it isn't that bad, but it is!! DH is staying home tomorrow morning, just to get DS to school for me and then he is finishing early just to pick him up and it isn't as though the school is a good walk away, it is literally just across the road from our house Anyway enough of the woe is me...

I want cake please, lot's of it, and a lovely latte with extra frothy milk, and I want to fast forward to Christmas Eve, when hopefully everyone will be better, the baby will be here, Christmas will be done and sorted just waiting to be enjoyed, we'll all be snuggled up on the sofa watching a cheesy film and smelling the turkey being cooked, and that raw sort of smell that the veggies give off when they are soaking in water, christmas tree lights flickering away doing everyones head in but no one wants to turn them off I can't wait!! LOL

But I suppose I should tell all of you uninterested people, that after losing some more of the jelly baby (all over the living room carpet, which was, ahem, interesting!) I have just been woken by contractions, they are strong enough to take my breath away, with loads and loads and loads of pressure, really bad period type pain in my back and sides, and I am sat here with my legs firmly crossed just willing it to all go away till I am better, there is no way I have enough energy to do any amount of pushing tonight. I'm not too worried yet, I still don't have that 'oh my god this is it' feeling, so hopefully it will all die down again.

hi, nj sorry to here your poorly, why do contractions always start at night very annoying. Don't worry though if tonights the night, you will find the energy it's amazing how the body finds reserve of energy.

Am ok thanks comes in waves of sadness anger, hurt loneliness and sometimes relief

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 01:03

I can imagine you have that many different things running through your mind at the moment, that you would be hard pushed to find words for most of it. Is he with the kids now?

OP posts:
carol3 · 28/11/2006 01:13

No isn't with the kids, have a wonderful mum who babysits every monday and tuesday so I can work, am very lucky really. Anyway how are the contractions ? any more ?

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 01:16

They are coming really quite strong, but only maybe 12/13 mins apart, not staying for very long either so fingers crossed they will dissapear again soon enough!

I have an appointment with the midwife tomorrow, I don't know if firstly I will be up for going down to the surgery, that is on a wait and see basis I think, but I am booked for a sweep, I think if she even tries to start this labour while I am still poorly, I will cut her hands off!!

OP posts:
carol3 · 28/11/2006 01:19

ring her and tell her your ill she may do a home visit. Am sure she won't do a sweep unless you want one,
are you over due know have lost track,

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 01:32

I was due by my dates on Saturday just gone, but due Wednesday by their dates, so take your pick!! LOL

I think I am going to go and get in the bath (that will be the forth one today!), it is the only place I can rest my back, and it helps unblock my nose as well! Looks like sleep is off the menu for tonight, but I am hoping the bath will at least slow things down, if not stop everything, for now!

I might see you in a bit depending on how long I am in the bath for!! Take it easy, thinking of you xxx

LOL

hope you are feeling a bit better..you sound a bit more chipper..xx

largeginandtonic · 28/11/2006 09:54

Hope you are having a nice lie in after your busy night NJ. You do sound poorly, it may be today you turn the corner and start to feel better...id imagine you should stand by though if you do....

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 10:31

Good morning

Oh how good is it to be able to breathe????? I'm sure I had forgotten what my nose is actually for!! Still feeling quite rough and sounding all croaky and yuk but I do feel loads better.

I got in the bath last night, the contractions initially got stronger, and I remember thinking well if it has to happen when I am ill let's get it over with, next thing DH is waking me up a couple of hours later, I was as shrivelled as a prune and freezing cold!! But no contractions!! DH put me in bed bless him, he woke me up to say DS wasn't well enough for school, which I had half expected, and so DS got into bed with me, and we just woke up about 1/2 hour ago.

I have rang and cancelled the midwives, even though I could probably make it there on my own now, DS is still with me here, and I don't want to take him out as he is.

Had another huge show this morning, literally seconds after getting out of bed (I think I am getting a little too attached to it you know, everytime more comes out there is this little part of me that feels a bit sad....!! ) And I have tightenings back again, but no pain so once again watch this space!

QP, I have bought a TENS machine, but I don't want to use it until I know something is happening, it only has one set of sticky pad things with it, and they want £10 for a set of new ones, which I don't fancy throwing away on my fake labours!!

Who would have thought so much could happen when I have spent probably 90% of the time I have been away asleep?!!!

MKG · 28/11/2006 13:27

NJ I hope you are doing ok over there. Not too much longer to wait.

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 13:36

Yeah I am doing OK, feeling loads better than yesterday now, still full of a cold etc. and I am getting really tired really quickly (just going up stairs for a wee has me flaking out!!) but still it is moving in the right direction!!

The midwife rang before, I've made a new appointment for tomorrow, she has said if I can't make it to ring in the morning and she will come and see me here instead. I think as long as I am no worse tomorrow I will let her do the sweep, if nothing else I am curious to know what sort of state my cervix is in!

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 28/11/2006 13:42

LOL NJ have just been on another thread talking to Harrogatemum, we are discussing self examination! This could be another notorious thread topic....

I tried with dd but she was op and my cervix was right round the back of her head so i couldnt tell. If your cervix is round the front you may stand a chance...if you fancy it....

MKG · 28/11/2006 13:47

These sweeps that everyone talks about sound interesting, we don't get them done here.

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 13:47

I think I would be really scared if I felt my own cervix!! LOL I don't know why, but it would feel like I was touching my kidney or brain or something... urgh!!! LOL

...Might get DH to have a go, he is normally up for this sort of thing!! LOL

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 13:50

MKG, I don't know if they are quite a 'modern' thing, I was induced with DS (nearly 5 years ago) but was never offered a sweep to see if would get him shifted. I don't think I had even heard of a sweep, though I was in a different area of England then and I didn't have the MN world of knowledge at my door!
