I know it has been done 1000 times before, but if nothing else I just want something to do with myself while my body decides what it is going to do.

I felt fine all day, got to about about 5 o'clock-ish, and very suddenly started to feel sick, didn't want to eat dinner but DH made me eat some toast which perked me up a bit, have been having fairly mild but intense contractions (can you have mild and intense at the same time?!!) with a tiny bit of back pain, coming every 8-10 minutes or so. The contractions aren't painful, but just really tight, and the baby has dropped really low.

Anyone who has followed the last 5 weeks with me, this is completely different to every contraction I have had before!

I actually feel really silly posting this, in case it turns out to be nothing, but I am bored and can't concentrate on the telly, so thought it would at least take some time up.

Where in NJ? I live right on the Delaware River, 45 minutes from NYC and 1.5 hours from Philadelphia, but all I see from my window are farms.

lulumama · 26/11/2006 20:36

erm...not sure.....plains something!! has been a while!!

no farms though!!

MKG · 26/11/2006 20:39

HMM could it Morris Plains? I know where that is.

I think we should be starting a pool as to when NJ is going to have this baby. I am going to say that she will have this baby on Friday.

lulumama · 26/11/2006 22:19

not sure...will have to email him now!

i think she is never having the baby ! lololo

but i don;t think he will make an appearance until she is better..so i will say wednesday night or early hours of thursday!

NatalieJane - 2nd December

I have had an inkling all along of it being then, it is our wedding anniversary, my sister had a dream at the end of October that he was born on the 2nd, she got all excited thinking it meant the 2nd of November, obviously not, so she has put it down to the 2nd December! And it is a Saturday, which is the one night I have been praying I wouldn't labour on, x factor and casualty, even with sky+ I couldn't not watch them on a Saturday night!! LOL

And yes, I know I should be in bed, but I am actually getting a sore patch of skin because of the mat things on the bed incase my waters go there, they make my skin all clamy and it itches like mad after a while!

So what's the prize if one of our guesses is right?

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/11/2006 23:26

the prize is a baby! so you'd better be right ! LOLOLOLOLOLO

NatalieJane · 26/11/2006 23:29

LOL OK, if anyone else wins I will offer up a bag of jelly babies, but you must love and cherish them forever and ever

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/11/2006 23:33

ok..that is fine!! don;t stay up too late! x

NatalieJane · 26/11/2006 23:35

I won't

G'night xxx

colditz · 26/11/2006 23:38

OOOOO NJ put the mat thing under your sheet - you will still have to wash the sheet, but you won't get sore and your mattress will be fine.

NatalieJane · 26/11/2006 23:45

It is under the sheet, with a towel on top of it, and it still makes that bit of skin sore, it wouldn't be a problem if I could move when I'm led down, but I just can't, so I am literally in the same position for hours on end. It isn't as bad as it sounds, it hasn't actually come up as an open sore or anything, it is just itchy every time I do get out of bed.

lulumama · 27/11/2006 07:36

mooooooorning!! hope you are feeling a bit better today xx

largeginandtonic · 27/11/2006 08:29

Morning how's the itchy patch? My guess is the baby will put in an appearance on saturday morning. Wouldnt it be nice if we, i mean NJ, didnt have to wait too much longer....

largeginandtonic · 27/11/2006 11:54

Have just lurked on you AN thread NJ to see if you were up and about. One of them on there has had khim looking after her, she is lovely. I had accupuncture from her to induce ds#3, it worked! I dont live in Plymouth anymore though, am in Portsmouth now. Hope she gets her again she was so nice and very alternative, so id imagine having her while in labour would be fab!

Anyway where are you?

Am making Mars lemon drizzle cake luludoula fancy a slice?

lulumama · 27/11/2006 12:01

yes please...keep meaning to ask mars for the recipe!

largeginandtonic · 27/11/2006 12:13

I have it if you would like it? Well i just posted it on the due in may thread weekg beginning 27th nov. All attributed to Mars of course, she will be famous for it over there soon!

lulumama · 27/11/2006 12:15

can i be really lazy and ask you to put it on here! at my laziness!!

yummy !!

largeginandtonic · 27/11/2006 12:35

Of course lulu

12oz self raising flour
9oz caster sugar
9oz marg/butter
4 eggs
6tbsp milk
3 tsp baking powder
rind of 2 lemons

Put all ingredients in to a blender and whizz, pour batter in to a large roasting tin or square tin. I used a massive roaster so it was not as thick as Mars, it cooked in 25 mins on 180. Im guessing if you used a smaller tin you would need to drop the temp and cook for longer, Mars cooks hers for 30-40 mins at 180.

Prick the cake all over with a fork.Use the juice from the lemons and mix with alittle icing sugar so still runny, pour over the cake while still in the tin (saves on mess) Cut in to square and eat Mars is clearly a genius.

Think NJ shoud do a spot of baking for the midwives? Where is she anyhooo

Am going to get ds #3 in a mo from school and then go to toddlers. Im being a good mummy today having been a rubbish too tired one yesterday.

saralou100 · 27/11/2006 12:47

hi, just popped in to see if nj's been here today (i'm from the nov ante-natal thread) but no sign here either...

lulumama · 27/11/2006 12:48

that sounds nice and easy...should be the cake of choice of all birthing women !! shopping tomorrow..so will buy stuff and have a go !!

NatalieJane · 27/11/2006 12:49

Hello I am here, still poorly, I think I am actually getting worse DS is picking up, he is still laid up on the sofa, and still no decent sleep or proper meal (since weekend before last!) but he is definitely on the road to recovery. DH has it as well, but it hasn't come out properly yet, so I have that to look forward to because you just know he will have it 100 times worse than either me or DS!

My contractions had stopped yesterday, but they are back today, I was a bit worried this morning that something was going to happen when I am ill, but then I realised it must just be my uterus telling me it is still there when I found the contractions were only coming as I moved/sneezed/coughed/blew nose etc.! So fingers crossed he is staying where he is for now.

I am going back to my poorly blanket, DS is waiting for a cuddle, I don't know who is getting the most comfort from our cuddles at the moment, him or me!

I will let you all know if anything happens, but I don't think it will xxx

Hello there, NJ - sorry to hear that you're poorly. As if you haven't had enough on your plate to deal with recently! Hope that you're better soon (and glad to hear that your DS is perking up now)

As for the sweepstake, I'm going with this;
