Am I in labour???

I know it has been done 1000 times before, but if nothing else I just want something to do with myself while my body decides what it is going to do.

I felt fine all day, got to about about 5 o'clock-ish, and very suddenly started to feel sick, didn't want to eat dinner but DH made me eat some toast which perked me up a bit, have been having fairly mild but intense contractions (can you have mild and intense at the same time?!!) with a tiny bit of back pain, coming every 8-10 minutes or so. The contractions aren't painful, but just really tight, and the baby has dropped really low.

Anyone who has followed the last 5 weeks with me, this is completely different to every contraction I have had before!

I actually feel really silly posting this, in case it turns out to be nothing, but I am bored and can't concentrate on the telly, so thought it would at least take some time up.

lol love this thread

MKG · 23/11/2006 23:26

I'm back from Thanksgiving, and NJ I ate a lot of Mashed potatoes and stuffing with a ton of gravy. Yes it all went down fine.

Although I come back and there is another discussion of sniffing bodily fluids. Your dh must think you have lost your mind. I'm a very visual person, and I have this image of you chasing him telling him he has to smell your pads.

I hope you are still ok, and I've decided that this baby is never going to come out and that you will be pregnant forever.

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 23:40

LOL I get the feeling this sniffing thing is going to follow me around like a bad smell

Glad Thanks Giving went well Dinner sounds yummy!

The baby is well and truly tucked up for the forseeable I think, I am still really wet down there, but it isn't wee, it isn't even the right colour for wee! Have been having the usual contractions and tightenings, bit of pressure here and there, and I did have one very painful contraction a while ago but no more since. Not that I am either looking for labour signs anymore, or reporting them on here, since no one cares and they then always dissapear anyway!

I admit I did skim read a lot of it! Was in a really bad mood about being at work at 6.45am, but you've made me laugh out loud. The guys here think I'm nuts. Which I obviously am, if I'm hanging out with you lot!

How did you get on last night, NJ?

lulumama · 24/11/2006 08:13

so very very bored now....I agree with MKG..this baby is never coming out! ever!

doing school run and errands....i will see you later!!

burn is healing thanks!!

NatalieJane · 24/11/2006 08:52

Still getting the odd very painful contraction, but there is certainly no pattern to them.

DH is home for at least the morning, we have managed to get DS an appointment at the doctors for 12 o'clock, he is no better, and his cough is worse, he was awake most of last night, he can't move/speak with out coughing, and he is still burning up badly when I don't give him calpol for a while. I am going to take advantage of DH and go and get some sleep, I have managed about 4 hours since Sunday night, wouldn't mind making it up to 6 or so!!

Catch you all later xxx

NJ are you alternating Calpol with Nurofen for Children? That way you can give him something 2 hourly which will hopefully keep the temperature at baby.

I think that once you've sorted your DS and start to relax things will progress more quickly for you.

Hope your day improves.

NatalieJane · 24/11/2006 09:02

I started him on the Calprofen yesterday, thing is you can only give both of them 4 times over a 24 hour period according to the box, so I can't keep him fully dosed up, so when he has slept through the time of the next dose I have waited for him to start getting worse again before dosing him back up if you know what I mean?

I haven't given him anything this morning because I want the doctor to see how high it is going. So far DS is sleeping but whether he can hold out till 12 without any I don't know....

Anyway, I am off for my beauty sleep, because by God I need it!! LOL xxx

hellooooooooo..have had a crap morning...so have bought a sandwich and a copy of heat. babylulu asleep . all i have done today is errands in the p*ssing down rain...and housework , and entertained a 15 month old. who will not walk !!!!!!! so i am going to veg for an hour!!!!!!

how are you?

NatalieJane · 24/11/2006 13:42

The doctor has given DS some penicillin, and told us to carry on with the calpol and cough mixture, not much more they can do really, I suppose we went for our peace of mind more than anything!!

My cold has finally come out properly, it has been trying all week but I have finally sucumbed, not as badly as DS's mind, and DH has started with a sore throat, so it looks like it is doing the rounds.

DS didn't walk for ages either, he could stand up with out holding on to anything at around 9 months, but he wouldn't walk until he was coming up to 15 months, but then once he did, he completely missed the toddling stage and would walk for as long as we wanted/needed him to, now he can walk a fair few miles before he starts getting tired! They all do it in their own sweet time.

I am going to go and sit with DS for a bit, he is feeling really sorry for himself now, I think the trip out to the doctors has really taken it out of him.

Hope your afternoon is better than this morning xxx

Nothing new then....thought not.....

Poor you lulu, amazing what heat and a sandwich you dont have to make yourself can do

Am going to clean now as my parents are coming this weekend, yay! Company....that doesnt require me to be online.......

MKG · 24/11/2006 13:54

Lulu,

My ds is 15 months and won't walk either. He took a few solo steps last week and hasn't attempted since. They should start the "Lazy Bones" club.

Creena · 24/11/2006 15:05

Hello there, NatalieJane - hope you don't mind me wandering in. I'm another May 07er and was intrigued by all this talk of pad sniffing! I just had to read your thread all the way through. In your honour, I will start a thread called "Who wants to sniff my pad?" when I go into labour in May!

I have to say that I have been so impressed by how calm and serene you seem to be and how you've kept your sense of humour - if I were in your situation, I would be tempted by now to see if a sink plunger would make any difference!!

I'll keep popping in to see how you're getting on - not that I'm in any way interested of course; nobody on the May 07 antenatal thread is!

MKG · 24/11/2006 15:08

That plunger part has me PMSL. The image is hilarious.

NatalieJane · 24/11/2006 15:11

LMAO!!

Thanks for that fantastic advice, I will text DH and get him to bring a plunger home with him then I don't think he will be that puzzled after the 'sniff my fingers' he came home to yesterday!

OP posts:
lulumama · 24/11/2006 16:16

NO MORE SNIFFING OR TALK OF SNIFFING !!!!!!! FGS!!
come on, lets talk about something else......like ....... erm, stuff..

anyhoo MKG..my DS was 17 months before he walked , so don't know why i am surprised at this laziness! everytime she stands up she flaps her arms and squeals which is very cute !

largeginandtonic · 24/11/2006 16:56

Wish mine walked late, they all bugger off in top speed by their first birthday. Even the 3 month early twins! They had to wait 6 months before startrite had shoes to fit them, we had none of those crawler, pre walker thingys then, it was daisy roots. I do love them though and the star child ones, they have a fab website by the way.

Was about to post saying dont give NJ any ideas creea....too late

How did the heat and sarnie work out lulu? What was in the sarnie, magic?!

Sorry i knew the pad sniffing would have them all over here....

Sugarfree · 24/11/2006 19:48

Not been here all day and I don't care in the least that there is no news!!!

MKG · 24/11/2006 20:20

Maybe NJ is having her baby and can't log on. . . I highly doubt that though.

Sugarfree · 24/11/2006 21:17

I don't care if she is or not.

But I hope she is!
