41+3 and have lost all hope of ever having this baby Sad
Dc2, hardly engaged, failed 2nd sweep yesterday and absolutely nothing happening.
No signs, nothing.

I'm giving up.

Oh poor you Thanks

I was in your position about 2 years ago and I was miserable. I had the worst heartburn which started from about 11am every day and lasted all day, SPD, sciatica, back pain and a toddler to look after.

I remember having a scan at about 34 weeks (I had a low lying placenta) and they told me that the baby was already very low so "expect her to come early". So I had been expecting her to come at about 37 weeks or something and she ended up being 12 days late. I was in so much discomfort and DH used to come home every day to find me in tears.

Your baby will come soon lovely. Hang in there.

MsBug · 18/09/2014 13:38

Is there definitely no one you can ask if you need emergency childcare on Monday? If a friend in your situation asked me I would probably do it, even if it wasn't someone I knew very well.

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 18/09/2014 13:41

No, we've two sets of friends I'd trust and both are away and my Childcare for the day is in hospital.
Just typical!
I know he's going to suggest his mum as dad but I'm no contact with them and it's upset me too much to have them look after her.

:( if it's any consolation I went into labour at 4 am both times and can't imagine going into labour at any other time. I always just woke up with contractions and thought 'oh good, I'm in labour' then went back to sleep for an hour or so. No signs before bed or anything, babies not particularly engaged, just started.

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 19/09/2014 07:37

Just to update, had another sweep yesterday and nothing. Not a twinge. Got 2 days till induction Hmm

Hope it comes today, Ds1's birthday :) He was 10/7 late and very reluctant to appear, and is now a beautiful 15 year old

DizzyKipper · 19/09/2014 07:56

I had my sweep yesterday too, also nothing Sad

frannie2013 · 19/09/2014 07:59

Mummytomog I was hoping that was going to happen to me last night. Nope! It's like waiting for the phone to ring. I just need to chill but it's so hard!!! Good luck all xx

SEX!

Sorry you're fed up. Have you tried having sex? The stimulation is a bit like a sweep. And the sperm softens the cervix.

I asked my midwife what I could do to bring things along she said, there are many things, but none are guaranteed, try "sex, pineapples, raspberry leaf tea, sex". She said "sex" twice and gave me a knowing look.

I was thoroughly fed up when pregnant with DC2 so demanded DH sort it out! We had sex, and then 6 hours later contractions started, a further 6 hours later DC2 was here!

I know you've tried everything and probably sex is the last thing on your mind. But give it a go (again!). Make sure DH "finishes" inside (sorry TMI). I'm convinced it'll work!

Serotonin · 19/09/2014 08:06

showme I am on the antenatal thread had the same due date as you I think. have my third sweep tomorrow and then we will get an induction date.

everyone is going to have their babies before me Sad my DS was 11 days late so I'm not expecting miracles here.

hope it happens for you soon x

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 19/09/2014 08:29

We keep doing the sex and nothing! Poor dh, I've never been so disappointed afterwards GrinWink

Showme same here...
But I'm amazed OH can as I can't move v well & look like a whale but it's interestingly different and one of the good things about being late! Having more now than we've had for months!! Not working though (from a get baby out perspective!)

BettyFlour · 19/09/2014 09:20

Oh showme I'm sorry. Fingers crossed things will move along.

My DH was most upset that the times I was most keen on sex was either to make a baby or get it out!

Bolshybookworm · 19/09/2014 09:46

I tried every trick in the book to get labour started, including a 3 mile walk when 40+11. None of it worked. Just put your feet up and get as much rest as you can (albeit with a toddler)!

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 19/09/2014 10:24

Me and dd are doing sweet fa today! Smile

Might bake with her in a bit (guilt + cake = both happy)

I've epilated my legs and washed my hair. Currently laid like a beached whale on the bed watching show me show me.
Spd is getting worse, just moving is killing me.
Also, had my nails gel polished (was a present, don't normally indulge in such fripperies) and she's put on 'sparkles' one of which is wonky and really pissing me off!
I keep looking at it in rage Grin

upyourninja · 19/09/2014 16:28

Oooh! Good luck!

MummytoMog · 19/09/2014 16:42

Yay!!!! No sex now, but bounce on a ball if no contractions yet :)

squizita · 19/09/2014 16:48

Starting to get utterly paranoid my body has some switch missing. Blush
Constantly worried that at 41 weeks my BH are too "weak" (a MW pulled an "are you sure" Face when I described them last week), I'm not making enough colostrum, I'm not waddling enough... like I've regressed and got LESS pregnant. Duh.

ajandjjmum · 19/09/2014 16:48

Wooo - Good Luck ShowMe!

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 19/09/2014 16:49

Ooh that's good news, hopefully it'll all kick off now!

squizita · 19/09/2014 16:55

Showme my friend went from waters to baby in 3 hr! Hope it's quick (but not that quick... she had to rush to the hospital) now for you. :)

ThursdayLast · 19/09/2014 16:59

Yes!
Every time I've seen this thread on active today I've quickly flipped it to check your labour status Showme!
Hope you're ok

TheTravellingLemon · 19/09/2014 17:04

Good luck Showme!
