Off for my CS tomorrow. Please send lots of no-pain-be-home-by-Friday type vibes please.

I hate being in hospital because it's so bloody boring, but on the upside, it does give me a few days where I don't have to vacuum/wash up etc. I'm also going to enjot tomorrow morning, when I can lie in bed and read trashy magazines without being interrupted with poo fiascos and constant demands for drink/food (I have to be in at 8am, and they do the CS in the aftrenoon)

Anyway, will I be in loads of pain afterwards? I had an emergency CS with DS, and I can't really remember what happened for the next six months, as I was on another planet!!

EEEEK, starting to shit myself now........

accept any offer of pain relief, find out how many hours later you can have more and ask for it, if it's not delivered. pain is much better managed if it's anticipated imo. after my 2nd c/s (crash that time, so GA not an epidural) I took out my own catheter and ripped off the plaster from my wound in the shower (both the day after the op) and generally found it all much easier to get over. and you don't just get a "few days" off hoovering, washing up etc, no strenuous stuff like ironing either for 6 weeks, it's official

Don;t worry, I shall be milking the no housework for 6 week rule for all it's worth...

Mind you, I'll probably get fed up with living in a house that looks like the council refuse site, as DP can't be relied upon

Definitely agree with bundle re pain relief. Try and get hold of some homeopathic arnica tablets, they help with bruising afterwards. Don't worry!! Good luck.

Have been on the arnica since yesterday. Hopefully, it'll all go towards helping.

Can't believe how much less pain I was in after cs with ds2 - forceps with ds1 was totally so much worse recovery so enjoy!

I dont remember been in that much pain tbh, granted it was a bit sore when moving around when I had to get up and about the day after but not painful as such. Drain, catheter, dressing all out and off without any bother as well. I think I only ever had a few paracetamol here and there.

I have a couple of "helpful" friends who said that it was agaony for a couple of days, but I really don't remember it being that bad.

More worried about how I'll cope once he goes back to work next week.

Hey IGW - I was thinking of you - have a lovely "last night at home" - God that sounds dreadful - like you're off to the gallows or something !!
You'll be fine - I think the worst is the hanging around waiting for them to "take you down" !!
BTW - we did get a Desh last night !!

Although my Mum is coming to pick DS up at 6pm, so might see if I can talk DP into one. Yum!!!! I need a nice curry, you see.

i had emergency cs and tbh i didnt find the pain bad at all, was given painkillers in hospital but i only stayed in 1 night as i was so desperate to be at home. I couldnt get any rest or settle in hospital and was much better when i was in my own bed. I was given painkillers to take home and only took them for a few days.
Its more uncomfortable than anything else, like trying to sneeze or cough coz it feels like you'll burst.
Once your stitches are out you'll fell 100 times better..good luck

I had fish and chips from the Panda in Weston the night before my CS - was up all bloody night with heartburn !!

Ew, the Panda is rank. It's our emergency takeaway, as it's closest to where I live. Bath needs a good chipper. Maybe that could be my future...

If I did that though, I'd end up being 50 stone with arteries made out of rock.

Kayleigh - I was the same - had cs for DD on the Thursday, was transferred to a maternity unit on Friday pm ( DH drove us there and we had to pass our house so of course I burst in to tears !!) and at 6am on Saturday told DH if he didn't bring the car seat as soon as possible i would walk myself and DD home ... He did and I buggered off - community m/w was with us within the hour and I instantly felt better for being at home - and I had 2 glasses of wine as painkillers !!!

I think the worst thing for me will be being away from t'internet (or, more specifially, MN) for more than 4 hours.

When looking after my patients I try to make sure they continue to take paracetamol etc even when pain is negligible/mild. That way it 'stays on top of it'. Hopefully you will be on paracetamol at least and also have other pain killers you can request on an 'as needed' basis. Please don't underestimate the power of paracetamol - it keeps many post op patients comfortable. However, at the same time don't be afraid to ask for more if you need it - no good being a mayrter. I think as a whole, pain relief is getting better in the NHS - good luck and I hope the arnica works well for you.
