Well netfriends, my baby is finally here!
I wasn't sure where to post this, and did not want to hijack anyone else's thread.
For those of you who went two weeks or more past your due date , four days will not seem much but they really dragged, and I finally had strong contractions at about midnight on Saturday.
We got to the hospital at about 2 am and my perfect baby boy was delivered about three and a half hours later. It went very well,(as being in labour goes); I will give all the details later if you are interested but time is tight at the moment.
I am so grateful for my lovely healthy baby and for the fact that he came into the world safely and without too much outside help.
For those of you who care about weight he was 9 pounds 11 ounces ( and there is a bit of a tale to tell there too, but I will save it for later)
I will be posting soon on the breastfeeding advice threads !

Congratulations to you all Eualia!

Lil · 19/04/2002 14:55

Hooray, at last, am so pleased for you Eulalia. I have been logging on everday, each time thinking how weird it would be to still be preggers (didn't think you'd want me to say so at the time!!). Just goes to show how far out dates can be. Aren't little girls easier! My daughter happily spends her time breastfeeding and sleeping, leaving me twiddling my thumbs..er when ds isn't around of course. Congrats again, are you sick of pink yet!!!

Lil · 19/04/2002 14:56

Ooh, doesn't that just leave Bugsy - how's it going??

Lindy · 19/04/2002 20:32

Congratulations Eulalia - have been trying to 'wean' myself of Mumsnet as I seemed to be spending so much time on it but kept sneaking a look at this thread to see if you had any news - so why am I now sitting here with tears of joy running down my face, even though I don't know you the power of mumsnet friends must be very strong.

Very best wishes

Eulalia · 19/04/2002 21:01

Baby Eulalia is called Anna (her brother is Jonathan). I'll post a birth story soon. Anna has slight jaundice. Fortunately it was a gorgeous sunny day today and she sat in my parents conservatory all afternoon.

Lil- yes it did start to seem unreal - was wondering if I'd ever have a baby at all! I only got my first pink things today. I'd not bought anything at all but a friend gave me a big bag of newborn clothes. Glad to hear things are going well with you.

jasper · 19/04/2002 22:05

Eulalia, that is my favourite name for a girl.Guess what my daughter is called?

Ah, nice one Eulalia! Feel like we've experienced it with you!

Bugsy2 · 20/04/2002 10:56

Thanks for asking Lil, yes I'm still hanging in there. 41 weeks pregnant now and well hacked off. SPD really annoying now, not comfortable in any position for more than 10 mins - chronic insomnia v good preparation for lack of sleep to come!!!! Had reflexology on Monday, drinking gallons of raspberry leaf tea, walking as much as I possibly can, rolling around the floor playing horsey with ds, curries etc. etc. Will be induced on Tuesday if baby still refuses to join us!!!

Joe1 · 20/04/2002 15:58

Congratulations Eulalia. What was it like buying girlie stuff?

Joe1 · 20/04/2002 16:07

Forgot to ask how is your ds taking to his very important role as big brother?

Eulalia · 20/04/2002 19:16

Joe1 - someone gave me a big bag of pink clothes and I've been getting presents so not spent a penny yet! Big brother has been brilliant. He wanted to help change her nappy today. All I need now is to get him out of nappies before he turns 3.

Eulalia · 20/04/2002 19:21

Oh Bugsy I know just how you feel and as you'll see from the being late/induced thread I moaned every day I was late here on Mumsnet! I just hope if you are induced it will be easy. At 42 weeks I really didn't need much encouragement. I found that becasue I wasn't in labour when I went in to hospital it did give me a bit more time to rest. Don't worry baby will come soon and you'll forget all about the wait. I've started calling my daughter the daffodil baby as there are masses growing round in the fields here. It will be nice for her birthday every year.

Eulalia · 20/04/2002 19:28

Joe 1 - how selfish of me (I am still on cloud nine with my new baby) I didn't ask you how things are going with your pregnancy.

Janus · 20/04/2002 20:32

Bugsy2, I had friend who used acupuncture and thought it brought on her overdue labour, may be worth a try? I drank gallons of raspberry leaf tea too (only 4 days overdue) but I did go into labour myself so maybe it helped. Anyway, hang in there!!!!! Good luck.
