Well netfriends, my baby is finally here!
I wasn't sure where to post this, and did not want to hijack anyone else's thread.
For those of you who went two weeks or more past your due date , four days will not seem much but they really dragged, and I finally had strong contractions at about midnight on Saturday.
We got to the hospital at about 2 am and my perfect baby boy was delivered about three and a half hours later. It went very well,(as being in labour goes); I will give all the details later if you are interested but time is tight at the moment.
I am so grateful for my lovely healthy baby and for the fact that he came into the world safely and without too much outside help.
For those of you who care about weight he was 9 pounds 11 ounces ( and there is a bit of a tale to tell there too, but I will save it for later)
I will be posting soon on the breastfeeding advice threads !

Congratulations Dixie and lots of love to you and your family xxxxxxx

Oliver is a lovely name. Well done on your little boy. Take huge care of yourself and I do hope you all feel better soon. Your birth experience sounds very, very upsetting, but Oliver will be your son for the rest of your life and you will have so many wonderful years together to make up for any sadness around his arrival. Good luck to you all.

congrats, dixie. I thought my c-section followed by nasty midwives/broken hospital everything/etc. was bad, but definitely not like yours. I too spent weeks crying after the birth, not from sadness but from hapiness (and lots of natural hormones)....my husband kept asking me what was wrong and thought I was nuts when I kept telling him that I was crying because I was so happy. All I can say is let him try 9 months of pregnancy, 40 hours of labor and a c-section all the while being treated like a reject from a meat market...and see if he doesn't cry a little.

congratulations Dixie and hello baby Oliver. So sorry you had such a nasty time - hope things improve soon.
I have also had my baby - a little girl called Amy! I am finding it hard work with a 2 year old as well, but there are lots of mumsnetters with similar situations and my DH is a star, so I think we'll be ok...

Congratulations Cerys and hello to Amy. I will be in the same boat as you by October, coping with a baby and two year old so please keep me informed with any tips.

Hi everyone - have posted most of the details on 'mums-to-be' thread as that's where my progress was being monitored(!) but just to let you know DS2 arrived safely on Sat 3rd Aug - 9lbs, 6oz. What can I say except he's completely gorgeous!

oxocube · 08/08/2002 18:12

Motheroftwo, I have just congratulated you on the previous thread, but 9lbs 6oz!!! What a whopper

MotherofOne · 08/08/2002 18:32

oxocube - yes sounds big, but DS1 was 10 lbs 3oz, so this one's 'tiny' to me!!

Azzie · 08/08/2002 18:44

Congratulations Motheroftwo - we were all on tenterhooks waiting for your news!

Interesting to hear from you and Malmomum - two quite different but very positive birth experiences.

Now who's the next expectant mum (this could get addictive...).

leander · 08/08/2002 18:46

Congratulations motheroftwo and family welcome little fella

jasper · 08/08/2002 20:12

congratulations motheroftwo...will you be joining us on the breastfeeding threads?

Loobie · 09/08/2002 21:57

Azzie i am 26 weeks at the moment am due 14th Nov but previous pregnancies have been earlier than due.

Mo2 · 09/08/2002 22:18

OK - so I've changed my nickname (formerly MotherofOne!) and yes, Jasper, I'll probably see you 'in breastfeeding' as it were, although all is going OK on that front at the moment!
Thanks everyone for your kind messages - I've printed off this and the Mum-to-be thread, as they are as much part of the birth as all the 'bricks and morter' cards and flowers etc we've received. Isn't it wonderful that we can have so many genuinely caring & well-wishing virtual friends on here?
