Baby is here at last

Well netfriends, my baby is finally here!
I wasn't sure where to post this, and did not want to hijack anyone else's thread.
For those of you who went two weeks or more past your due date , four days will not seem much but they really dragged, and I finally had strong contractions at about midnight on Saturday.
We got to the hospital at about 2 am and my perfect baby boy was delivered about three and a half hours later. It went very well,(as being in labour goes); I will give all the details later if you are interested but time is tight at the moment.
I am so grateful for my lovely healthy baby and for the fact that he came into the world safely and without too much outside help.
For those of you who care about weight he was 9 pounds 11 ounces ( and there is a bit of a tale to tell there too, but I will save it for later)
I will be posting soon on the breastfeeding advice threads !

Congratulations, Lil, good to hear it all went so well. And with her start in life, she has got to be the sunniest babe around.

Eulalia · 04/04/2002 21:31

Congratulations Lil on your baby girl and how wonderful to have such a quick and easy birth. I think it is a nice time of year to be having a baby :-)

I am still very much pregnant (now 4 days late) but am expecting to go a week over as I was late with my son. However I've to hang on another 27 hours or so till the 6th (start of the tax year) as apparently there is a large tax benefit for a baby born in the next tax year. So I am taking it easy tomorrow!

Rhiannon · 04/04/2002 22:46

Congrats to all and to Liz Hurley who had baby Damien Charles today. Too posh to push? we'll know by how soon she comes home. Must admit do feel sorry for her without her partner. R

Tinker · 04/04/2002 22:59

Nice one Lil.

Eulalia - I know a Matthew born on the 5th - so called because of the tax benefits for his parents. Not sure what they are though!

jessi · 05/04/2002 09:07

Congratulations Lil and best wishes to Eulalia too.

Tillysmummy · 05/04/2002 09:21

Congratulations Lil. Great news. What's her name ?

Eulalia · 05/04/2002 19:48

Still here and looks like I am going to make it to the 6th ... just over 4 hours to go!!!

Then please can I have this baby?!

Eulalia · 06/04/2002 17:40

Well I've hung onto the new tax year. No sign of anything happening but baby seems to be lower down so it can't be long. Induction date is 15th April but I am sure baby will come him/herself. You may well go before me Bugsy!

ChanelNo5 · 07/04/2002 00:28

Good Luck Eulalia. All 3 of mine were late too!

tigermoth · 07/04/2002 12:04

Good luck, Eulalia. My second was late, too. I could feel him getting lower in my womb but still nothing happened for some days. Then when it did, the birth was easer than I'd anticipated. Hope all goes well for you.

Eulalia · 07/04/2002 20:48

Thanks for the well wishes. I may start a topic on lateness/being induced as there doesn't seem to be one but will wait a day or two. Policy on induction seems to vary quite widely from hospital to hospital. Anyway I am hoping something happens soon ....

Pupuce · 08/04/2002 08:06

Hi Eulalia,

Topic has been covered as I remember it well... here : www.mumsnet.com/s/Talk?topicid=1365&threadid=744&stamp=010805145721#16375

Read from Emmaggee - 17 May onwards

You can always start a new discussion you might get other ideas.

Bugsy2 · 08/04/2002 10:21

Eulalia, you have my sympathy. With only 5 days to go now, I am desperately hoping this baby will not be late as I am so uncomfortable all the time now.
I have several friends who swear by reflexology to get things going - could be worth a try!
Good luck

Marina · 08/04/2002 18:40

Good luck Eulalia and Bugsy - hope the wait is not too long for either of you.

mollipops · 09/04/2002 06:46

Ditto from me, as I remember well those "past due" days (5 days with both dd and ds, tho only induced with ds)...along with the physical discomfort you have all the well-meaning friends and relatives calling or seeing you saying "Are you still pregnant? Haven't you had that baby yet?!" Uh well no thanks for reminding me, I had quite forgotten...grrrr Hang in there, it won't be long now until you finally get to meet your precious bubs!

Eulalia · 09/04/2002 08:02

Still here - this is the 9th day ....!

Thanks again for the well wishes and thanks for the link Pupuce. Had a look but I'll probably start a thread later. I am just keeping going by having something organised each day. Today the 'highlight' is watching the QM funeral with my parents. Not very jolly but then again it is not really sad is it? She was 101 after all.

I have the option of a cervical sweep tomorrow and I may take it. Apart from the physical discomfort it starts to play on your mind.

I was really only joking Bugsy but if it is 4/5 days now then it is quite likely you may have your wee one before me (arggh!) :-)

ChanelNo5 · 09/04/2002 12:31

Eulalia - My no.3 was 11 days late, by then I'd tried EVERYTHING (fresh pineapple, running up the stairs, hot curries.....even sex!!!!!!!!!!) to make him be born. My advice:- Put your feet up and enjoy the peace(?) while you can, as soon as it starts you'll be wishing it hadn't LOL. Also, I had a cervical sweep for no.1. Found it painful, but it did work and baby was born early the next morning. Good Luck, thinking of you

Lizzer · 10/04/2002 00:34

Typical! I'm away for a bit and miss a birth! Congratulations Lil and family

Eulalia-I have a message for you on induction thread, good luck X

Tinker · 12/04/2002 00:17

Eulalia hasn't posted today!!!

Eulalia · 12/04/2002 08:03

No Tinker I am still here (sniff, boo hoo!) It is a beautiful sunny morning too, just the sort of day where I'd like to give birth. Looks like the midwife will have to put her rubber gloves on after all. It will be soon one way or the other - I guess you are all fed up of hearing from me without any news.

tigermoth · 12/04/2002 09:18

Eulalia, the day has only just begun, you never know what will happen. Even if nothing does, at least every day brings you closer to the big one!

Hope you enjoy the sunshine.

Hilary · 14/04/2002 12:43

My first was 10 days late and my second was 13 days late so I know how it feels. Try to enjoy the peace and savour the 'I wonder who it will be' feeling. Get lots of sleep!

With good wishes...

jodee · 14/04/2002 22:12

Eulalia is very quiet !!!! Some good news soon I hope!

Jaybee · 15/04/2002 16:16

Eulalia was still around on Saturday (on late/induction thread) - she had had a sweep and if nothing happened meantime she is due to be kick started today....
