Did you have any signs leading up to labour 2nd time round and if so what?

OP posts:

Cacraig2 · 06/03/2014 17:06

Despite due date no symptoms of any movement here Sad
I am hoping pasta and other ladies the lack of news means good news for you all Envy

MatildasCat · 06/03/2014 19:23

Well I've been for a long walk today and sat on my ball loads.

Does anyone else have a weird feeling like it's never going to happen? Each day that does past, the thought of going into labour seems further away.

apprenticemamma · 06/03/2014 20:56

Having contractions every 15 mins in my back sometimes every six mins since this arvo. I don't want to get too excited they are neither strong nor regular. They cld even stop, right? I didn't have a latent phase last time, can anyone advise? Having fruit enema haha then doing some grooming /hozzie back tweaking and maybe see if can sleep. ...

PastaandCheese · 06/03/2014 21:31

At last! Went into hospital for want of something to do and I was only 3cm so they said to go home. Waters broke as I was getting ready to do the walk of shame back past reception and a little boy arrived 55 minutes later!!

7lb 1oz. Gas and air. One stitch as he had hand on head.

Just like a switch had been flicked when water went and it just became incredibly intense instantly. Frightening as I was worried it wouldn't have got far and would have hours to go. Then had a massive contraction and shouted 'I'm pushing' and he came on the next push!!!!

Midwife was as shocked as me!

Wishing everyone a rapid and happy birth. Can't wait to hear happy news from you all.

KoalaFace · 06/03/2014 21:37

Oh congratulations Pasta I'm so pleased for you!

I knew it was imminent from how you described your day yesterday, it was so similar to how it was for me.

Enjoy your gorgeous boy Thanks

Sending big positive vibes and speedy labour prayers to everyone still waiting!

Cacraig2 · 06/03/2014 22:37

That is fantastic pasta thank god you never got home or it may have ended as an unplanned home birth. Another example of why its crazy the way they send labouring women home. So pleased for you enjoy your wee boy and hope your dc1 is a fantastic little helper xx

PastaandCheese · 07/03/2014 06:59

Thank you! How are you doing apprentice? It was just awful stopping and starting but it was definitely true in my case that the reward is a fast delivery at the end.

KatieChooChoo · 07/03/2014 08:28

MatildasCat · 07/03/2014 12:46

Horaay pasta!

frogslegs35 · 07/03/2014 13:54

Woohoo! Congratulations Pasta Thanks
I also had a feeling you'd not be long after what you were describing.
Glad it's all over now and your little boy is here.

Good luck to the ladies still waiting, hoping you all don't have too much longer to wait.

PastaandCheese · 07/03/2014 14:22

I shall find my way there katie!

It was a very good experience. The difference between how I feel today compared to after my first birth is incredible.

I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the babies on this thread arrive.

Cacraig2 · 07/03/2014 17:59

Saw midwife today 40+1 and told 3/5ths engaged so heading right direction. Sent to hospital due to reduced baby movement but scan and trace normal and baby piped up and been active since-typical.

This afternoon went for reflexology figured worth a try as midwife tried to assure me nearly there just need some contractions to get things going!! Also managed to source some clary sage oil so will add to bath and rub on bump later so here's hoping. Might even order another curry (any excuse! Wink )

KatieChooChoo · 07/03/2014 18:01

MataildasCat would you name be taken from the book? If so, its one of my ds favourite bedtime stories.
I felt like you, that the pregnancy was never going to end. Im not sure how long you've been following the thread, but i went over 2 weeks and ended up being induced. I had planned a home birth - pfft !!
The advantage ive found with going over is having loads of energy afterwards. That energy comes in handy with a toddler and new born so please dont dispear too much (much easier said than done!).

Sending everyone labour rapid labour vibes.

xx

frogslegs35 · 07/03/2014 18:43

Typical indeed Cacraig little bugger :)
Glad everything's ok.
Good luck with the oil, hope it helps.

PastaandCheese · 07/03/2014 19:05

Good luck cacraig and definitely have the Indian. I was eating an Indian when I went into labour with my first....

Matildascat I felt exactly like it was never going to happen. Once I went past the point where DD had been born I just felt quite down about it all and just felt it was inevitable I would go two weeks over.

In reality I only had to wait another couple of days but each day felt like a lifetime. It is such a hard time.

MatildasCat · 07/03/2014 20:58

Thanks Pasta and Katie . It's a comfort to let off some steam with people who understand.

I am hoping for a home birth too Katie and yes, you're right on the inspiration for my current user name Grin

We've had curry tonight.......bring on the contractions!!!!

Yonineedaminute · 08/03/2014 03:33

Congratulations pasta! Sounds like a wonderful birth as well!

My DD finally arrived on Thursday evening. Unfortunately it wasn't quick though - all going really well (arrived at hospital at 6cm, birth pool, just gas and air) then suddenly progress totally stopped, and it ended with all the drugs, epidural and ventouse in theatre. It is so similar to what happened with my first birth that we think that the shape of my pelvis must have something to do with positioning of baby's head as it turns.

But she is here and is lovely (sleeping on me right now at 3:30 she won't settle in her crib!) and that's all that matters.

Good luck to all of you, your babies will be here so soon!

Springbells · 08/03/2014 09:07

Congratulations pasta and yoni, glad your little ones have arrived safely. I'm hoping for a quick birth like yours pasta, can't believe they were sending you home!

PastaandCheese · 08/03/2014 10:04

yoni congratulations. ThanksThanksThanks wonderful news. Hope you enjoyed the snuggles even if they weren't followed by a nice snooze in the basket (same here BTW!).

I had failed vontouse and forceps with my first so I can really sympathise with that experience. As you say it is done now. Thanks

springbells in all fairness to them I knew it wasn't painful or frequent enough so I think I knew they'd say go home. Something changed instantly when waters went and she could tell just by putting a hand on my bump?

onceipopicantstop · 08/03/2014 10:43

Congratulations to the new arrivals!
40+3 here and no sign of progress. Even bh have settled down Sad. Feeling much more impatient than I did with dc1, but not alot I can do about it. He'll arrive when he's ready I guess!

Out if interest were those of you who were postdates closer to your own dates rather than the scan date? For dc1 my date was brought forward by 1 week after my dating scan, compared to my dates from lmp. And he was 9 days late. Same thing has happened with this pregnancy so wondering if I should just assume he's going to be at least a week late!

Cacraig2 · 08/03/2014 13:49

Hi onceipop I can't remember what date I thought i was due with dd1 but was 40+3 but vaguely remember it being earlier than I expected. with this one my edd from scan was 6 th I worked out 9th from lmp and ovulation kit and currently 40+2 so maybe as usual mums are right Wink

Still no sign of any labour symptoms feeling absolutely fed up Sad

onceipopicantstop · 08/03/2014 16:01

Hi cacraig 2 good chance tomorrow will be the day for you then!
I'm just fed up being uncomfortable and unable to do anything. Dh and ds have been in the garden playing on the trampoline, I'm barely able to walk because of spd and general awkwardness. Am waddling like a duck!

Cacraig2 · 08/03/2014 22:13

Away to bed again with no sign of dc2 feeling weepy, huge and sore. Honestly this is like some kind of cruel torture with no end in sight ! Of course I know that is rediculous it has to come out sometime even if by forced eviction but every day feels like an emotional and physical struggle. Poor dc1 having a grumpy mummy that has the physical abilities of a 90 year old Angry Sad

onceipopicantstop · 09/03/2014 11:03

No news here. Had regular and more uncomfortable tightenings and back ache from 5pm last night, every 20 mins or so, and was hopeful that things were starting off but had stopped before I went to bed.

Beautiful day here though so planning on a long walk - even if it is like torture because of spd, I'm getting desperate!!

MatildasCat · 09/03/2014 12:45

The curry worked!!

Our baby boy was born yesterday evening at home, as we'd hoped. Quite a hard back to back labour. Very different from the "easy" labour I'd had with DC1 but all worth it.
