I always read on here how tea and toast was given to them after they had their DC and it was like the food of the gods..

I was really looking forward to it!!

I didn't get it!

About 4 hours later my mum brought me a tuna sandwich (which was amazing anyway Wink)

Then with DD2... I didn't get it again.

Have I sorely missed out and am I the only one??!

Yep! Got tea and toast with both babies. It is spectacularly awesome. I was sooooooo hungry after they were born.
Sorry.

McPheezingMyButtOff · 16/01/2014 23:32

I got coffee, two rounds of toast and a box of krispy kremes Wink

gallicgirl · 16/01/2014 23:35

I got a glass of champagne in the bath, followed by toast and pate.

Homebirths rock.

Just had my second and got tea and toast both times. It was even in two different hospitals. But My son was born at 6.30am and DD at 3am but I needed to go to theatre after and only got back to my room around 7 so it was breakfast time anyway for both. I love that toast.

BetterWithCheese · 16/01/2014 23:36

Gallic-amazing!

Snowflakepie · 16/01/2014 23:39

Tea and toast with DD in hospital, and it was fab even if DH pinched half!

Nothing though, compared to the wonderful Buck's Fizz and toast that my mum made after DS arrived very suddenly at home delivered by DH. Homebirth was amazing, but my own bed was the clincher.

Demand your toast. You've earned it!

curiousgeorgie · 16/01/2014 23:39

Is it because I had a C Section? Does it not count? Wink

I didn't get tea and toast either! I was starving so oh ordered a Chinese which he had delivered to the ward and it was delish

joanofarchitrave · 16/01/2014 23:40

No, I'd packed some apples which I knew I would want, and a litre bottle of water - I was petrified of The First Poo and started drinking from the moment I sat down after ds was born. Don't even remember if I was offered toast but as I'd had a Big Mac only 5 hours beforehand, I wasn't too hungry, just wanted something fresh and comforting.

SoonToBeSix · 16/01/2014 23:41

Yes I had tea and toast , it was amazing Grin

McPheezingMyButtOff · 16/01/2014 23:42

Mine was a section.

You was robbed!

Mellowandfruitful · 16/01/2014 23:46

I got a cup of tea, then chucked it up again. No more was offered. Don't remember getting toast at all. So you're not the only hard done by one Grin

GeordieJellybean · 16/01/2014 23:46

The lady who got it for me said "you had gestational diabetes didn't you?" When I said yes, she said she'd get me extra as I'd been carb restricted. She came back with 4 slices of toast, a bowl of Rice Krispies, orange juice and a cup of tea. It was amazing. She even got extra tea and toast for DH saying he needed it as we'd been in for so long. Smile

ShuttersAndMirrors · 16/01/2014 23:49

Nope not with DS
I'd read about it on here and tried asking for someone and the narky midwife looked at me like I was asking for rare truffles and vintage champagne. I think it marked me out as a diva!

DH got me a toastie from the cafe, which was nice but not the same

RhondaJean · 16/01/2014 23:53

Yep with dd1 and I promptly threw the lot back up over the midwife who had firstly told me just because I was sick with period pains (thought I'd warn them) it didn't mean I would be sick in labour, and then that I couldn't have gas and air because it was going to get a whole lot worse (when I had gone from 2cm to 8cm in 45 minutes with the induction drip). I have a good aim for projectile vomit Grin

I didn't with dd2 but she was a section and I was a bit out of it too so I don't know why.

Floggingmolly · 16/01/2014 23:53

Geordie Shock. Nothing for me, 3 times.

SmeeHee · 16/01/2014 23:53

I had tea and toast both times. Is it not in the NICE guidelines that one must have tea and toast immediately following labour? Grin

Don't remember enjoying it particularly though - was bloody knackered and a bit freaked out which tends to reduce my enjoyment of food... I think the midwives made some for DH too (or maybe I just shared mine Confused ) anyway I think he enjoyed it more than I did!

Mrswellyboot · 17/01/2014 00:00

I didn't get any due to Emergency Section or any breakfast but I got it when admitted earlier in the evening.

I remember sitting on a commode at one point in the night and dh was having tea and toast Confused ah well !

Xfirefly · 17/01/2014 00:02

I never and I had a EMCS. I wasn't allowed to eat...I had to beg for a cracker Sad. I hadn't eaten for a day and a half. lovely midwife brought me tea and toast in early stages of labour so didn't majorly miss out Grin.

hazchem · 17/01/2014 00:03

No! I got tea and a biscuit. I then moved to ward and got a bowl of cornflakes. My mum pinched a yoghurt from the lunch fridge(ward lunches not a personal stash) and was told off by a midwife. My mum said she hasn't eaten in over 24 hours and has PPH Cornflakes is not enough.

TSSDNCOP · 17/01/2014 00:04

I had tea, toast and marmite. Back in privatee room which was lucky and lush. Made me all drowsy and fabulous, then they took THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BABY EVER to the nursery and I slept the sleep of the newly minted mummy.

also had cathetar so didn't even need to get up to wee

shineypeacock · 17/01/2014 00:04

Nope, hospital didnt do toast :(
