S'only me
Any tips of bringing this blinking baby on?
Due on Friday ... am very hot and uncomfortable (humid Auckland summer ... got elephant ankles - nice!)
Am HUUUUUUUUGE (scan last week showed monster baby weighing 9lbs+ already) ... SPD giving me all sorts of bother ... not sleeping due to heat and needing the loo every blinking hour (desperate to pee but just doing a teaspoonful) ...
And the pressure is on because my lovely gorgeous Mum and Dad flew in last week to 'surprise' me (a plan hatched by them and DH 3 months ago) but can only stay until 5th Feb ...
SO .... hot curries (not a fan)? sex (it's been so long I've forgotten what to do)? Pineapple (heard that it only works if you eat 4 fresh ones in one day)? Castor Oil (heard it was a bit violent)? Raspberry leaf tea (apparently tastes disgusting)? WHAT WORKS ... if anything????? Should I bother????
Yours fed uply....

HI ghosty - good luck. I tried reflexology - started the baby off that evening. could have been a coincidence but my reflexologist used techniques that an aussie midwife who specialises in maternal reflexology swears by - it was great!

Well, still here ... due today ... no baby yet ...
Twiddling my thumbs .... 'dum de dum de dum ... diddly diddly dum .... '

Oh ... and although I love my mum more than anything ... I mean that, she is truly a diamond and I wouldn't change her for the world ... If I hear one more time how she got into her pre pregnancy clothes immediately after each of her 4 babies I will SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!

Yours grumpily

Ghosty....immediatley......IMMEDIATLEY.........what like as soon as the baby popped out.......like straight away........Mmmmmmm no I didn't think so

I know I'll deserve a wallop for saying this but it really won't be long now. How is the weather? is it still hot? Maybe a long walk on the beach or something might do it.

bobthebaby · 29/01/2004 19:52

My mum said exactly the same thing Ghosty - she took one look at me the next day and said "oh, I was much thinner wasn't I?" Yeah right! I think the part of your brain that forgets the pain also forgets that you were HUGE for a few days afterwards. I did want to kill her.

Ghosty · 30/01/2004 05:29

emmatmg ... bobthebaby .... apparently she did ...
She said that the day she came home from hospital from having me (I was the 4th) she was wearing her size 10s ...
Grrrrrrr.....
Anyhoo ... 'Dum de dum ... diddly dum .... '

Didn't they stay in for 2 weeks in those days though? I'd want photographic evidence myself.

motherinferior · 30/01/2004 19:58

Ghosty, wonderful though your mum is, NONE of us want to know that!

best of luck honey

How's it going Ghosty, is no news good news?

Ghosty · 01/02/2004 06:14

Still here girls ... grrrrrrrrrrr!
Have had a curry and started drinking raspberry leaf tea (doesn't taste too bad actually) and had a bit of the old 'rumpy pumpy' and then had a show this morning ... but I am well aware that you can have a show and then have nothing for days so I am not getting my hopes up ...
Am now 2 days over ... ho hum ...
At least it has cooled down now ... peeing with rain actually - I am the only person in Auckland happy about that!!!!

Excellent Ghosty.......every morning when I log on I look for this thread straight away. I'm certain we'll all get to hear about your little phantom soon.
If I was a gambling woman I'd say within 48 hours.

Glad to hear it's raining too, I rememeber that feeling from our summer last year.

bobthebaby · 01/02/2004 07:16

Good luck Ghosty. My midwife reckoned that women wait for a cold spell to have their babies because its just too damn hard in the hot. So by her reckoning - any time now.

batey · 01/02/2004 10:12

Fingers crossed.....

bobthebaby · 03/02/2004 18:33

You stay in 3 days in NZ. 5 for a CS. Maybe today...?

emmatmg · 04/02/2004 07:38

I was thinking about ghosty during the night (DS2 poorly)........she must have had her babe by now....it has all very quiet, hasn't it.......really looking forward to the announcemnet.

bobthebaby · 04/02/2004 07:54

I think tomorrow should be about right for some news. It is a public holiday here on Friday so they will want her out before then. Sibble might know. Are you there sibble?

motherinferior · 04/02/2004 08:08

I keep checking this thread neurotically...

emmatmg · 04/02/2004 08:28

ditto M.I.

WideWebWitch · 04/02/2004 09:54

Me too

SpringChicken · 04/02/2004 10:18

I'm even thinking about her at home now - was telling my DP about her last night! Was hoping for there to be an announcement this morning!

Come on Ghosty
