Do woman who gave birth Vaginally resent woman who have had a C-section?

I have had 3 c-sections, and my sister in law who has had 2 vaginal deliveries, says she thinks she resents the fact that i never had to go through childbirth! - this has confused me somewhat as before this, she has made it quite clear both quietly and publicly that she thinks women who have c-sections are just lazy Angry)(sorry its an old and overplayed topic c-section V Vaginal) but i have never heard of women resenting about it before?????

OP posts:

I got told by my sil and my mil that i took the easy way out by having a planned section and i am bloody glad i did as the consultant said ds ouldnt be here if it had been vaginal.

monkeytrousers · 13/04/2006 17:16

I find these bucket jokes really distasteful - is it just me?

Yes, same here lockets. Had to go to theatre for manual removal of placenta after DS2 was born and that was bad enough.

lacrimosa · 13/04/2006 17:20

No way! I'm so glad I didnt have to go throuh a major operation, and could just get on with enjoying mymmyhood!

No way! I felt lucky not to have one. C sections take ages to get over. Two women I was in hospital with had a terrible time getting over theirs, whilst I bounced straight back.

CarolinaMooncup · 13/04/2006 17:24

tbh before I had ds (when I knew next to nothing about childbirth and pg) I was actually a bit sceptical about caesareans, esp elective ones. I didn't really "get" how things could go wrong during birth, how babies got stuck or distressed etc.

I got my come-uppance when I had to have an em cs myself Smile.

Has your SIL had quite straightforward deliveries herself? I've met a few women who've had relatively easy births and seem to wonder what all the fuss is about and have a general air of smugness, and I do wonder if they are thinking the same thing as your SIL (while being too tactful to say it out loud Grin).

PutAPeachyInYourSimnelCake · 13/04/2006 17:27

No, I just assume their labour / lifestyle was different to mne

Can't fathom why anyone would opt for caesarean by choice as ime labour is over and done with quickly enough compared to c-section scar, but it's just personal choice

expatinscotland · 13/04/2006 17:29

No, I've had major surgery and I am SO glad I never had to face recovery from a csection. I'd take vaginal birth w/no drugs any day.

intergalacticwalrus · 13/04/2006 17:30

I got the opposite when I had DS. I had an emergency CS, but the women at my NCT group knew me as "the one who had the Caesarian" I was like the shit on their shoes, quite honestly. I stopped going after a few weeks, as they made me feel so inadequate.

I say each to their own with birthing experiences. There are far more important things in life, tbh

intergalacticwalrus · 13/04/2006 17:32

Obviously giving birth is v important, but it's a comparatively small aspect of bringing up a child, IMO.

IW, that is Shock. What a bunch of cowbags!

I was the only cs in my NCT group, but none of us had an incident-free birth - it was all forceps and ventouses and pphs so we were all a bit shell-shocked together.

dinosaure · 13/04/2006 17:36

You had princesspeaheads??

flutterbee · 13/04/2006 17:37

What an odd thing to say, has she had 2 very traumatic vaginal births?

I personally am soooo glad that I didn't have to have a C sec, for me that would have been the most terrifying experience ever, give me vaginal birth any day.

sniff · 13/04/2006 17:41

no I have admiration for them I have had 2 v births and although they were complicated they cant be anything like abdominal surgery

no offense intended but she sounds like she has very strange opinions

tbh now i dont give a damn what they think but they do look down at me and tell me often that it was easy for me, i point out that it is major adominal surgery but they dont seem to get that i had months to recover and they had a sore fanny for a few days. I try not to let it bug me and i shall speak my corner next time.

CarolinaMooncup · 13/04/2006 17:44

Grin dinosaur

flutterbee · 13/04/2006 17:44

Just for the record I also find the bucket jokes offensive and distasteful.

What are pphs? (I know, I'm being really thick, but I can't think!)

Filyjonk · 13/04/2006 17:47

er...yes of course I resent other women for having had major abdominal surgery then having to look after one, or sometimes 2, newborns singlehandedly. Duh! Its a no-brainer.

Seriously, she sounds a bit mad. And you have been through childbirth, anyway! What a daft comment!
